Anyone had a TT and Breast Lift at the same time?
Shells_Almost_There replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have really enjoyed reading about the various procedures that people have had done after their weight loss. It is inspiring. It looks like many people go to Mexico and have both procedures done, although there is a longer recovery time. Good luck! -
What do you tell the haters?
Shells_Almost_There replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This. My psychologist and I discussed this exact issue during my appointment - his best advice was to not tell anyone, but if they ask what "diet" I am on (once the weight loss becomes obvious) to encourage them to see their own doctor and nutritionist for a personalized plan. No mention of surgery, just keep on truckin' towards my own better health. Good luck to you! -
First official entry.....pre-op appt today and the awesome pre-op diet begins, thought I would write a few things down...

I too worry about my own "Fat mentality" after I lose weight with the sleeve although it has really been a long time now since I was at a decent weight where I could imagine I looked slightly ok and attractive to the opposite sex. I too am keeping my procedure pretty much a secret (maybe 5 people know - during my psych evaluation, the therapist absolutely advised against telling anyone for a long while!). Good luck to you in the next step of this amazing journey. I am hoping for a September surgery date, and it's a scary but excited feeling! -

Help! Need to lose 4 lbs before my surgery!
Shells_Almost_There replied to TN_Vols_MiMi's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My insurance requires a certain percentage of weight loss before they will authorize my surgery. I am currently trying to lose weight for a weigh in at the doc's office in a couple of weeks so I feel your pain. The minute I decided I would lose the weight within 4 weeks, I started having extra stress at work, knee issues, and sugar cravings. It's so frustrating, but I'm ready to do crazy things to lose the weight. Good luck, I'm sure you will do it! -

Good luck with the surgery tomorrow! I'm sure it will go great - you've done that prep work that is the first big challenge. -
Liquids!

I've scoured the suggestions list and found these additions to above items: GasX strips for post-op gas pains, ear plugs (loud hospital), small pillow, warm socks, and a heating pad. Oh and someone mentioned sugar-free cough drops and gum for the dry mouth/sore throat after surgery. Good luck! -

**IF YOU STILL HAVE YOUR GALL BLADDER PAY ATTENTION****

Interestingly, I specifically asked my surgeon about this last week, and she absolutely shook her head NO. She prescribes preventative meds for all her post-op patients instead. As with most things on web forums such as this, it is easy to find contradictory information. Trust your own doctor, ask questions if you have them. -
Psych Eval

I was also nervous, and my doc turned out to be a guy as well. The first thing he told me was that he had also had weight loss surgery, which really put me at ease. The session was very quick and informative. Wishing you luck for a great session! -
I was just in Walgreens filling a prescription and was completely amazed at the amount of junk food that is all over that store. There seemed to be very few areas or aisles that didn't have a display of high carb/sugar junk food on "sale" -- it was sad, really.

I don't want to get any older and be this weight - I feel like too much of life is passing me by! I've done a year's worth of research before deciding on the sleeve and I'm pretty excited (yet scared, of course) to get 'er done.

Who Are You?

I just got an email showing your posting, but it's the first one I've seen. Welcome to the process of the "new us"! What part of the journey are you in? I have done most pre-op appointments and meet with my surgeon on 7/2. Scary but exciting. -
Who Are You?

Newbie here! Hello, I'm Shell and I am in the early stages of this process. Yesterday I had my first 4 appointments at the surgeon's office. It was a trip - Got my sleep study take home equipment, had an EKG and a blood draw (ouch), met with the Nut, and met with the exercise guy. Oh and all that without any food or drink, because I had been fasting since 10:30 pm the night before and then had back to back to back appointments. Next for me: Sunday night I will do my at-home sleep study with a hilarious monitor doodad, and next week I have my first psych appointment. Things are moving fast after many months of haunting these boards and mentally preparing myself to take this leap. I'm actually calmer now that I have been to the office and met people involved in helping me make this surgery happen.
