Any endurance sport sleevers?
swimbikerun replied to ryan_86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Look up Don Bernandini. He is one of the guys who had an RNY and can manage it. -
Both. Ketones.

No. I was able to swim 2 days short of a month, but I already was in good shape and only 75% overweight. I dropped 25% of my weight in the first month. Unless you were already exercising like crazy before the surgery, and walked walked walked during the first month, and were as small as I was already, probably not. The incisions and the like are an issue. You haven't factored in the inability to eat and drink to support the above either.

The best surgeon on Hampton Roads, Va is: Dr. Terracina
swimbikerun replied to mswisdom's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
You didn't say in your note whether or not you saw all the responses on this thread. That would have given you the information you were looking for. I gave you an update. If you are asking specific people who posted, contacting them privately would be the best way to see if they've changed their minds. -

swimbikerun replied to mswisdom's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
The previous responses all did. I can tell you about the 3 groups in Hampton Roads or impressions I've gotten and heard. Dr. Terracina, and then after that Dr. Clark, have been the best overall so far. -
Swim meet both days.

What Vegetarian/Vegan Food Have You Eaten Lately?
swimbikerun replied to Shana Lee's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
Ya my fave beans, eggs, little bits of cheese. -
Beans here get eaten, no matter what people think of the carbs. Rather than think of protein in it, the fiber you need for colon health and cancer prevention lines of thought, most are still too attached to it is only for carbs. Yet they'll eat fries, want to drink beer, etc.

Question for all post op vets ( at least 2 years post op or longer)
swimbikerun replied to xoxococojay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am over 5 years. You can't eat like you did before. Does it get better after a couple of years in terms of how much you can eat at one time? Yes, but it still isn't a lot. I can do a cup but it depends on what is in that cup. -
Yes. I used to drink it like sodas.

Soups and Stews for cold weather and sickness
swimbikerun replied to ForeverLabradorFan's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I go for soups and don't worry about it. There is usually not enough liquid it is a problem especially as you have only a few noodles. -
Feeling Great? Do You Still REALLY Need Lab work?
swimbikerun replied to Elizabeth Anderson RD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
You might want to add Vit C, zinc. I've had problems with those and part of the reason why is the Vitamins I get. Vitamin K was an issue for years too. I didn't have a DS either ... that should tell you something. -
HIPAA violation: What would you do?
swimbikerun replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in Rants & Raves
I've found they don't get fined, and in addition, it is not the AMA you complain to. Its the HHS/OIG. I've done the complaints and that is who I complain to. Do not complain to the hospital itself. Let it be in writing to HHS/OIG first because you really don't get responses unless the govt. puts its nose in and you have a record of retaliation. -
HIPAA violation: What would you do?
swimbikerun replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in Rants & Raves
I disagree. If you report it, they will retaliate. That is what happened to me. They don't care if the law says dont, I have proof that they will. Not just me but others. There was recently at least 1 multi million dollar whistleblower lawsuit because of admins doing this. It should be reported and documented up the hilt. -
Drink decaf coffee (with no stuff in it), water, Powerade Zero. No caffeine and no sodas.

I am so very happy for you! Vic -
Hi, I saw the Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual Health and Wellness forum but didn't know if it would be a place to discuss attitudes you see on the boards, and what to look about/read before posting to a board. Still haven't seen a forum that works as good as BP. I've seen one that comes close but it is limited. Vic

Did you get it all straightened out? The problem is that the HIPAA people don't always do a 'by the law' job. -

I guess you are never too old to get on a bicycle.
swimbikerun replied to James Marusek's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Got 90 year olds that can swim. We just lost a 100 year old swimmer, and yes she still swam. -
Probably the last quiet day at the gym for a while
swimbikerun replied to LittleBill's topic in Fitness & Exercise
This is why I say people should try swimming. It can work various parts of the body without being hard on knees, shoulders, etc. If you look at these swimmers you see them looking pretty good. The fly develops the core and back and the legs. As you can tell the main guy didn't get shoulders like that from lifting weights. Okay, that was pretty impressive. -

@@LittleBill Check out the 50 meter fly here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loZAwxtiwv4. Most of the Chinese don't have arms and do it in less than 30 seconds. They broke the world record again and the 2nd place guy was only .03 slower than the old record. No arms. You can work the whole body. -

@@LittleBill Have you seen the paralympic swimmers? There is a Chinese guy who does the 50 fly (LCM distance) and has no arms. It can be done. We still have people competing in the middle age and above group. -
New Year, New Start Challenge- OFFICIAL thread
swimbikerun replied to mi75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Would love this but a problem: I put on some weight, I've found out, but I can bicep curl 50 lbs at 5'1". I have traps like Michael Phelps. My shoulders, back and chest are about bigger than the stomach but the stomach is getting bigger. I've been using medicine balls to pick up when I do situps and a lot of fly work. A massive amount of fly and distance work actually. I got Christmas Day, today off. I could have gone today but I've been doing declutter around the house, and I don't mean dusting. I mean putting up ceiling fans, painting, moving dish sets all around, rocker recliners.
