Constant nausea after gastric sleeve
swimbikerun replied to Dorla's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The 8 mg on the tongue pill? I don't wait, I take it immediately. I also have shots at times before the IV's. Phenergan, but it makes me sleepy. -

I have zofran that you put on your tongue. Courtesy of a heme/onc, but any one can prescribe. -
100 miles in 100 days fitness challenge
swimbikerun replied to alcn1derlnd's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Had a meet, so basically started this week back into swimming. I'm about 3/4 of a mile almost every day now. -
I wasn't tired on TPN after I got out of the hospital. I was a bit worn the first few days but went back to work after that. I had a backpack and had it in there, so it was odd with the backpack but no one really figured out the line going under was into the arm. It may be the issue of what nutrients you are getting. Are you getting blood pulled 2x a week?

The only ones doing a 20 min. or less are Katie Ledecky and the Chinese & Australian men in the Olympics in swimming. LOL. -
100 miles in 100 days fitness challenge

That's great! That's 40 laps in a 50 SCY. IM. I love fly and IM. They don't always love me, but I love them and mid distance. -
100 miles in 100 days fitness challenge
swimbikerun replied to alcn1derlnd's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Depends. Reason why I say that is it depends on what your 100, 200, and 400 times are. You can not flip turn and have bad technique and turtle and it take 1 1/2 min to do a 50 SCY lap. You can do some fly and no matter what you do, that's a good work out. Swimming has a lot more variability than running does. -
100 miles in 100 days fitness challenge

Maybe we can have something for the swimmers? I can swim a mile but yes it is going to take less than an hour. I can 13-14 laps in 20 min, depending on what you want me to swim. I would have a problem starting it because I have a meet next Saturday so no mile every day for me right now. I'm doing more sprint stuff, will back to normal mid distance after that. I also would have an issue with a few things because I swim competitively and do meets. -

Having had a problem doc, go elsewhere. They will try to ruin you. -

What do you wish you'd asked at the Consultation

What kind of problems have you dealt with and what ones haven't you dealt with? Who do you refer problems too? How would you recognize problems? Things along that line. -
Gastric Leak for 6 Months - Help!
swimbikerun replied to Greta Griggs Hannah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'd pray they are able to get correct medical care without the prejudice from docs. -
Vast majority gain the weight back. I have multiple other issues and have various forms of malnutrition/vitamin problems but it isn't like death is on my door every 5 minutes.

6 Month Structured Diet Program Requirement
swimbikerun replied to Apple203's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Great! I think it is just on the part of being lazy by the insurance people. I mean seriously, it is in those documents they sign with groups as to what coverage is there and what isn't. -
6 Month Structured Diet Program Requirement
swimbikerun replied to Apple203's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Ok try this. 1) Ask the surgeon if they have submitted to this insurance before, and ask them to call and see if it fits their needs and the insurances' needs. 2) Ask to move further up in the chain and you need a specific yes/no answer as to whether or not it would be approved if submitted. Be nice, but be firm and keep asking. Dang. I will say BCBS gave us a list of what would and wouldn't fulfill the requirements. -
6 Month Structured Diet Program Requirement
swimbikerun replied to Apple203's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
What does the one paying for it say? Usually this sounds like an insurance requirement. I'd ask them. If it is your bariatric group/surgeon, ask them. Get it in writing and keep it. From what I used to know, in most cases online doesn't count. Has to be in person. -
Pre-Op weight loss, how much is to much?
swimbikerun replied to melsabells's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I had a year long diet and counseling session. I got to 40.1 and they stopped testing me. I was about a month away and the consensus was, if you do this well, you'll really work hard to make it a success. Unfortunately an egotistic surgeon and my rare diseases kinda socked that but hey life could be worse. I'm smarter, wiser, and stronger. Live and learn. -
I put a stop to it. I complain or get rid of the place and tell all about it.

Problem with the Y's here is that they don't remove kids above 4/5 years old in the opposite sex locker rooms. Boys at 5 ft high were in the women's locker rooms.

Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis
swimbikerun replied to Newme17's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
Had some meat in the beginning, but red meat just never worked, nor anything fried, etc. with so many problems. I ended up basically handling chicken and turkey that wasn't fried, tough, etc. and with Hindu coworkers, etc. it was like oh well. Their food is really good and tasty and all sorts of new spices, etc. so I'm good with it. I have eaten goat some and its ok. -
Can I add to this? For weights, normally that involves a gym. Check and see if there are rec centers in your city or even the next city over that may welcome you for cheaper than what a regular gym has. They may have aerobic classes to shift things up a bit. A lot you are doing is leg based. Where I find triathletes have the issues? Swimming. The arms and legs and technique have to be there, not just the legs. I've found weight people have a hard time in the pool because of the aerobic part and runners by having to work the upper body at the same time as the lower body.

On this forum, no one can accuse you of trying to convert someone. You're preaching to the choir! ha ha ha ha. That being said I think its a very good thing to tout a MD bariatric surgeon who promotes healthy food choices. -

Newme17 - wish there were way more of you that did this. I've learned to do my homework and not rely on others opinions and websites anymore. So, I listen with open ears but have to make educated decisions these days.
