Band07 got a reaction from tizv123 in Planning to go to Mexico for sleeve revsion to MGB
I had revision from sleeve also, surgery was Thursday night, I flew home Saturday and went back to work Tuesday. My energy was very low but I managed. I ended up with double pneumonia (prob from the flight home) but had it not been for that which kept me feeling crappie for about 4-5 weeks I would have been fine.

Band07 got a reaction from mmy in So many questions about MGB
I'm an original band patient (2007) then revised to sleeve (2013) and MGB April 2014 so I'm 1 year 1 month post op. I'm very happy with my MGB, I haven't had any issues with malaborption so far and I'm honestly not great with my Vitamins. I take a couple one a days and B12 when I remember it. My bypass is around 9' and I was only 189 the day of surgery. Dairy and high sugar give me TERRIBLE gas and high fats make my dump but really everything I eat goes through me pretty quickly. I'm happy to answer any questions.

no that's not normal for me. My bowel movement was normal up until 6 weeks ago. My weight was starting to stabilize then all of the sudden just dropped and it will keep dropping if I don't find out what's causing it.

I eat healthy but thought of adding extra pharmacy bought fiber just in case my body is lacking on fiber. Yes I'm lactose intolerant (well I became one after the surgery) and I avoid anything dairy.

I eat whatever I want. I also run A LOT.. I just did a 15k and I'm doing a half marathon in March, it's a trade off for me, but I refuse to deprive myself or "diet" . I do try to make good choices but if I want something sweet I have it, if I go out on the weekend I order whatever I want. It works for me and has for almost 9 years.

Some will swear that a sleeve won't stretch, I believe it does over time. Also, it's true some surgeons play it safe and make a larger sleeve to reduce possibility of leaks. Only you can decide for sure what is best for you. I was a successful band patient, an unsuccessful sleeve patient and now a successful MGB patient. The MGB combines restriction with malabsorption, it's a great option with wonderful long term success. Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez did mine and I'm very happy.

I'm in no way trying to be insensitive, I actually do some work as a drug/alcohol counselor so I realize what a major issue addiction is and the very real possibility of transfer addiction, however reading your first few posts, drugs were not mentioned and you scared a whole lot of people who were led to believe that ALL of your health issues and personal problems and even demise of physical appearance was 100% due to your weight loss surgery. Now sure, you can say I had weight loss surgery and became a drug addict and that in itself is a tragedy that many will empathize with, however had you not started using, would your bypass had led to the same results ? I for one think it's important to clarify and report the whole story when discussing such serious life threatening complications. Regardless, I'm glad you are doing so much better.

Who is your surgeon ? If they do things right you should never have to worry about bile reflux. I was a band too, mgb 14 months ago, only thing I'm low on is Iron. Very happy with my decision.

I had the sleeve to mini bypass revision on March 31, 2016. The recovery was a breeze with the sleeve but a little more difficult with the mgb. It still was not bad and totally worth it. It got rid of my acid reflux and even though I'm losing weight slowly, that was expected (I was 199 before the revision). I'm getting measured and body scanned every two weeks and I'm losing inches and gaining muscle so I'm not too worried about what the scale says. I wish I had gone with the mgb or bypass in the first place.

I had lapband to MGB revision in late 2014. It is the best thing you can do, much better than the classic bypass. I am at my ideal weight and lost 112lbs in 16 months.

Hi MariaVSG!! Thank you for your comment and wishes. Compared to the pain I had the first 12 hours after VSG, the MGB was a walk in the park. I think I have mentioned it before, I 'm an M.D. (Psychiatrist) and I think I took the decision of having a VSG to soon. I'm convinced the MGB it´s a better procedure (at least for me). Be prepared to have more gas then expected, forget about the GERD and Constipation. Everything will be alright!!

Sure thing.. Banded in 2007, lost 100lbs kept it off for the most part. Got sick of living feeling stuck and never eating and worried about long term damage so I revised to sleeve and immediately gained 30 lbs! The sleeve was much "looser" than my band and I found myself able to eat anything after years of restriction. Revised to mgb last April and I'm happy to be back on track. About 8 lbs from goal.

Thank you ! It's frustrating more than anything but I've worked very hard over the years and through all the ups and downs I've only gained back 40 of the 120lbs I've lost. I just wish I had done a lot more research before revising from band to sleeve and i would have skipped that all together...live and learn

I've done so much obsessive research, I'm literally making myself crazy over this! I originally wanted to be resleeved and thought that Dr. Wilhmey was the perfect surgeon for the job, then through my research I decided a revison to MGB would be best and Dr. Rodriguez would be the man for the job (Dr. Wilhmey doesn't do revisions to MGB) then last night I find a post where someone went to him in February and had a bowel punctured (I know things happen) but still in all honestly I'm amazed by the following and support of both Dr. Ramos Kelly and Dr. Illan on FB which makes me think if SOOO many had such great expereinces with them, maybe one of them would be the better choice....I would love to have this done in April and that's getting close, I'm seriously starting to lose sleep over this, it's such a hard decision and I want to make sure I make the best one, especially with this being my 3rd and final attempt to get it right!!

Wow, so I'm just thinking, if you're bypass was 9' and you are still doing so well nutrition wise, then at a 5' bypass I shouldn't have a problem either.. Well at least that's what I hope for

Just an update: I had my mini bypass but my surgeon had an emergency that day, his appendix ruptured and had to have surgery himself. Dr. Zivalza stepped in and did my surgery. The first couple of weeks I was sore and really tired but I was able to go back to work after just two weeks. I lost 17 pounds right away (one week preop and two weeks post op) and then hit a stall after week two. Week 3 and 4 post op I've only lost about 2 pounds. But I'm losing inches and feeling better every day.
