I ran 2 miles this morning. Pretty pumped up about it, as I was shooting for just one but kept on running (felt a bit like Gump). At the beginning of the year, I could barely walk a mile. This has been a life changer!

I have now lost more weight, than I have weight to lose (lost 89 lbs; 88 lbs left to lose). I guess on the journey of weight loss, I'm now over the hill! Still have a long way to go. This forum has been a huge part of the journey, and I thank each one of you for being a big part of it!

Sporting a new profile picture. 75 pounds lighter then I was 11 months ago. 65 pounds of that lost in the last 5 months since surgery. Heck yeah! Feeling fantastic.

First off, don't be alarmed. Your feelings are completely normal! My first two days on liquid pre-op were difficult, particularly the head games. I cried on my way home from work both days. I couldn't believe I was about to give up so many foods that I loved. It was like there was a voice in my head that kept screaming for this, that and the other. Rather than giving in, I kinda took a crazy approach and named that voice in my head (for me, it's Bubba). And every time Bubba started craving pizza, or a cookie or a coke, I'd literally talk to myself and tell Bubba to hit the road. I'd say we're under new management Bubba and you've got to go. I know people were walking by my office thinking I was crazy, but it has really helped with the cravings. If you can get past the second day, every day gets better from here on out. I lost around 15 pounds on the pre-op, and the better you do pre-op the less risk of a surgery complication. But more importantly, I think the pre-op diet really trains you from a mental standpoint to be prepared for the surgery. I hope this helps!

Another great day! Started off with a 4 mile ride before work this morning then walked 2.71 miles today and I just finished a 7 mile ride on the recumbent bike. I think 7 miles is my best so far. So now I stand at 74.5 miles for the month! Feeling great!

I'm so embarrassed by my before pics and I'm not even half way yet, but thought I'd be brave, and share where I'm at. I'm 5'6, HW 230, CW 195 so 35 lbs down.
Went to see my PCP. The whole office gets excited when one of us has an appt because we usually accompany each other, and they're DYING to see our weight loss.
The doc said my husband and I had already had more success than some of her sleeved patients EVER see. That was a sobering thought and should scare us all into being diligent.
She congratulated us on being so proactive about it and said that our focus on health and activity was good because the people who put it back on are invariably focused on a short-term goal like fitting into a dress or going to a reunion.
She ordered me to stop obsessing, stop being as type A as I was, and to cut myself some slack. So I will try And my thyroid meds were reduced for the second time since surgery. Yay!
Ok I've blabbed long enough to delay posting my picture but here it goes.

Week 1 report - 27 miles. I'm secretly shooting for 120 this month, so let's see how it goes. I've started running... well, I should call it a jog... well, if I'm going to be honest about it, I should really call it a "wog" (part walk, part jog). The scale is kinda stuck right now (fluctuates b/w 297 and 300), but this too shall pass.

vinniej3 got a reaction from JourneyToLife in Scared to do scared not too!
You just described 99% of the folks that have gone through the surgery. Fear is normal and part of this journey. When I first told my family, my mom and sister said the same thing to me... why can't you do it on your own. Lord knows I've been trying to do it on my own for many years now. It's not like I wanted to be morbidly obese. I explained my reasoning and showed them studies that tell us it's nearly impossible to successfully lose AND and maintain. In the end they came around. It is perfectly normal to be scared about this as it is a major change. My first few days of the pre-op diet, I cried on the way home from work every day. However, success breeds success, and once I saw the scale moving the right way it all just clicked. Yes, the recovery is a bit tough for the first few days. However, if you stick to the plan you'll be good as new in no time. I can honestly say this is the best decision I've ever made (outside of asking my wife to marry me...). Best of luck in whatever you choose; just remember it is your journey!
