  1. Yes. I gained 10 pounds post op from IV fluids too!

Oh good (okay not that any weight gain is good). I was hoping this wasn't just me. My husband was sleeved last year and I didn't recall him gaining post op weight. I'm assuming at some point it will go back down. I started to think I was perhaps the one crazy person that the sleeve would not work on! Thank you!

  2. I was sleeved yesterday. I'm doing really well getting enough fluids in and taking my walks. Was discharged this morning and got to take my first walk of the day out in the sunshine. I have that same darned gas bubble but the more I walk it does seen to be improving. I'm still really sore in the abdomen but nothing that I can't control with my pain meds. Glad you are doing so well too!

  3. I started my two week pre-op today. Not liquids' date=' high Protein, no carbs. Three high protein meals and three clear liquid Protein Drinks a day. Yes, I know how lucky I am. I know I can do this!!!

Had an appointment with the physical therapist and she said she's never had a patient my age in such good shape. Woohoo! I just turned 68!

I agree, the easiest is the protein/low carb diet. I was really impressed that I was really never hungry with exception to truly missing my diet cokes, carbs and wine! But it was all worth it when the surgeon said I did a great job at shrinking my liver.

  4. I am new to this forum but I am scheduled for surgery on July 17th. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. However' date=' the excitement outweighs the nervousness. So looking forward to a healthier me![/quote']

Welcome! You'll do great. There is a ton of great information on these forums. I know I have learned a lot myself!

  5. Feeling the same way tonight. I cannot believe I am one full day away from this finally happening. For me, going through the 6-month supervised diet prior to approval is when I made myself sick with worry. I think I had convinced myself that the insurance would deny me. Now I just can't wait. I'm ready to get through this surgery and the subsequent pain and move forward with the new skinny me!!! Think positive thoughts. We are all in this together!!!

  6. Hi! My name is Lisa. I just found and joined this site today. My surgery is scheduled for the 22nd. I'm so ready for this but I'm starting to get nervous. I have struggled with my weight for so long. I'm really hoping this surgery and lifestyle change will be the answer. Good luck to all of us! :)

Welcome Lisa! Good luck to you too!!

  7. Good morning my fellow July 8th sleevers.

It's exciting to just have the last three days / last weekend' date=' before our new self. I thought it was going to be difficult staying off all the bad holiday foods, but maybe due to the nerves it has been rather easy. I hope you all enjoyed a nice holiday yesterday.

My mission for this weekend is the following:

pack my bag, still need to get some slippers.

get a massage ( To be as relaxed as possible)

    Clean my house really well

And truly just enjoy this special count down with my family. I have a daughter who is 19, who she and I share the same struggle with weight, except I, with the medical problems that come with it. She is very excited for me. Our goal is to start a journey together. Me with my sleeve and she with a strong will. My husband is also very supportive. I hope I can influence my family transition into improved eating habits, so that our family of five can overall improve to better health.

Anyone like to share what their weekend count down must do is?[/quote']

The massage is a great idea! I'm packed for Monday and at this point, I'm just anxious to get to surgery!!! Best of luck to you!

  8. I am on day 11 of my pre-op protein/Low carb diet. I'm down 5 1/2 lbs and have not cheated either. I've been allowed 40 carbs and I have been very diligent at keeping it there or below. Try not to worry, I'm sure your surgery will go off without a hitch! I'm so ready for Monday. I haven't heard of anyone's surgery being stopped due to the pre-op diet unless of course someone were to keep eating the carbs and fail at following the diet. Good luck!!

  9. I know I'm ready! Started packing yesterday since it was a good distraction to those eating that "bad for you but yet so delicious" food! I only packed a comfy pair of PJ's, robe, slippers, Chapstick, something to wear home, my favorite blankie and my iPhone charger. That just about covered my husbands needs when he went through this last year. My turn! Good luck everyone!!!
