    Sandwich Me!

These have been around for a while. I remember seeing the recipe a couple of years ago when I was trying Atkins. My attempt didn't come out that good. I think I probably needed to whip the egg whites more.
  2. WOO HOO!! Congratulations! Great feeling, isn't it!

    Motivation!

You will figure it out. I am also 4'11", and we started out the same. I was 211 on surgery day. Your progress is a bit better than mine. I will be 8 weeks tomorrow and am at 188. As far as portion sizes go, do you have a food scale? I've been using that religiously since I started on soft solids. I'm getting pretty good at eyeballing portions at this point, but I still use it all the time. I just advanced to the "rest of your life" stage Thursday. I can barely get in the 2 oz of solid Protein at a sitting. Maybe just bring things back to basics for a week and regroup. Remember why you did this in the first place. Think of what you would tell one of your patients if they were having the same troubles as you. I'm in healthcare as well and sometimes it is very easy to take better care of our patients than we do ourselves! You need to take care of you in order to take care of the ones you love. You'll figure it out. You are still early in the game and need to get a handle on it before it gets too out of control. Good luck!

    Help with my fitness pal

On the home tab, choose the subtab for settings. From there choose "diary settings". Here you can choose what you want to track - sugar, carbs, protein, etc.

    One Year!

    Gorgeous! Great job!
  6. Ultimately it is up to you. I personally found in the first couple of weeks after surgery, looking at "real" food wasn't even appetizing. If you decide to go, a suggestion is for you to become the "unofficial photographer". That way you can keep yourself busy and away from the food if you're up and about taking pictures of everyone and everything! Good luck!
  7. So I will be 8 weeks out on Monday and met with my NUT Thursday. I am officially at the "rest of your life" eating phase. I'm kinda nervous to add new things back in! First, it seems like a lot of food, and second, I don't even know where to start! I know I need to add in the new stuff to get all the nutrients I need but it is a bit overwhelming. How do you vets do it?
  8. Exactly! I went to a cookout today and someone brought a fat-free taco dip - salsa, cheese, and I think sour cream. Had a little of that on a wheat thin. Very good and had no problems!
  9. Thanks! It's funny, you think to yourself that you can't wait until you are able to eat whatever you want again (within reason), but now that it's here, I'm scared!
  10. I was taken off the pill while in the hospital after surgery. I had an early pseudo period that week (I had just had my normal period a week and a half before surgery). I will be 8 weeks out on Monday and have yet to have my period. I am extremely nervous though because the whole reason I started the pill way back when is because I got such severe cramping that I will literally get sick and vomit every month.

    Before and During Photos!

You look great and I would never have thought that you were in the 200's!

    Out of work

I actually got laid off the Friday before my Monday surgery. Just started a new job this week so I was able to have 7 weeks off which is really good because I also have a job which is very physical and am on my feet all day.
  13. At about 3 or 4 days post op I was walking about 1 1/2 miles. By day 7 post op I was walking a bit over 3 miles 5-7 days a week. Was initially told that I could not lift over 20lbs until 6weeks po, but when I went to my follow up appt. with my surgeon at about 2 1/2 weeks out, he said weights should be fine.
  14. You are still swollen and healing from surgery. Don't panic. Also, in regards the the protein, check with your NUT. Every program is different, but I know on my program we were not allowed to have more that 25g of protein per meal.
  15. Everyone is different, but depending on where you had your surgery (local vs. Mexico) and what your program entails, I would mention it to your supervisor. I also just started a new job and let the person in the interview know that I had surgery and with it comes some follow up appointments that I would need to leave a little early for. That way they knew from the beginning and it wasn't like "why does she get to leave early" type of thing.

    This is so hard...

Usually the first few days you really aren't able to get a lot down. After a couple of days it gets better, but it takes a while. It took me an hour to get a whole Protein shake down in the beginning. It doesn't sound like that nurse has much experience with sleeve patients. Just take it easy. It will get better!

    This is so hard...

How far out are you? If you are early but doing everything right like taking small sips and it still hurts, I would call your doctor. It shouldn't hurt to drink.

    My before pic

Don't you hate that though! You get all dressed for whatever occasion, look in the mirror before you leave thinking, "hey, I look pretty good today!", then someone comes along with a camera and you're like "Damn! Really!!". Well, just think down the road maybe 6 months or so after surgery and someone takes a picture and you're like "Damn! I look really good! (I'm only 7 weeks so waiting for this day myself!)
  19. Um, I think we need pictures!!

PO period & exhaustion food reccomendations?

I had my surgery on June 10th and they stopped my birth control pill altogether (I'm getting old!). Anyway, I had a pseudo period that week, but have not had one since. I will be 7 weeks out tomorrow and should have had one by now. Not really looking forward to it though because the whole reason I went on the pill to begin with was that I got such horrible cramps that I would physically get sick.
  21. Wow! Great job! Keep up the good work!

    Cheating during two weeks?

I didn't have a pre-op major diet to follow. They only thing I had to really do was just drink the clear liquids the day before my surgery. I went out to eat with friends I haven't seen in a year the day before my liquid day and had absolutely no problems.
