jewelry off, clip the toenails, no make up --even take out the partials. Oh, and don't forget to go potty! Every little bit helps! :)

I'd give anything for a stall. That must come when people have lost significant weight. Or in my case stalled from surgery day. So discouraged.

    Please help...

Sure....no problem! I started to dry heave and was very nauseous. They admitted me because they were concerned I might pop a staple line. It took a while to get that under control.

    PASSED!

Way to go! Best of luck to you on your journey. Keep up the good habits you've developed now and surgery will easy peasy lemon squeezy.

    Please help...

Hi, I am 5'10" and at my heaviest was 295lbs. I'm now 187lbs. I had surgery on 8/17. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE. Was it easy? No. It required some serious lifestyle changes but it was SO worth it. Unfortunately I had some complications (reaction to anesthesia) and ended up back in the hospital for 4 additional days. I would do it ALL OVER AGAIN in a heartbeat. I am so much more active and am really enjoying life and all the things I can do now that I couldn't before. I would encourage you to read as many books about the sleeve surgery as you can. I highly recommend the following: 1) The Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients 2) The Sleeved Life 3) The Big Book of Gastric Sleeve I also encourage you to read these boards Best of luck!
  7. Oh and weighing in kg's! Love it....I'm only 85 kilograms! WOO HOO!
  8. I have a Tanita digital scale that weighs to .2lbs. It's very reliable and I didn't pay more than $45 bucks for it. I always way at the same time, MONDAY MORNING, after my "morning ritual" and I usually hop on/off at least 2-3 times to make sure that was really my weight. AND I'm "ONLY" 13 stone 5lbs.....if that makes any sense at all!

    Cheese Please

All I had to do was see the word "CHEESE" in this thread and I was hooked. This is my favorite place to buy cheese.....check it out, it's awesome! I highly recommend the aged cheddar. Muy magnifico!!! http://harmanscheese.com/
  10. Just my .02 but it sounds like you are obsessing about food/diet/exercise. Do you have a therapist? We all have to plan.....what sounded obsessive was your use of the word CONSTANTLY....

    Meals with a beverage

I wait 20-30 minutes BEFORE & AFTER a meal. It gets easier...it really does. I don't even miss it at mealtimes anymore.
  12. So It's been a little over a year since I started my weight loss journey and 9 months since surgery. I realized I've been neglecting a few things lately and I need to get back on track. 1) Water - I'm nowhere near my 64 oz I should be getting in. I have been drinking more decaf coffee and with that comes 1/2 and 1/2. Going to limit myself to two cups a day - one in the AM and one in the evening. For some reason I like drinking coffee at night...it feels like a "snack" and helps me with avoiding munching in front of the TV. 2) Vitamins - I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW....something I need to get better at. I have not been able to get this into my daily routine. I'm good some days and not good the others. I just need to do it. End of story. They tend to make me sick and I got out of the habit. 3) Weighing/measuring/tracking - I've been eyeballing portions and I haven't been tracking. Again - I just need to do it. 4) Exercise - I've committed to exercising and I've been going to Zumba twice a week and Yoga 1x a week. I was doing really well ramping up my walking outside and then the weather changed and it turned COLD/RAINY BLAH BLAH BLAH (excuses excuses) and I haven't been getting in as many steps. I have a treadmill I could've used it but I didn't. I let myself use the excuse that it was cold, I was cold, it was rainy etc. to not get in any additional walking per week. I need to ramp up my exercise in order to lose this last 22lbs! I have 13 weeks until my 1 YEAR FOLLOW UP with the Surgeon and my NUT. I would like to be 175 lbs by that date. My ultimate goal is still 165....but if I could get to 175 by that 8/23 appointment I would be happy! That's another 12 lbs.... I can do it!
  13. I've been a "slow" loser lately and that was getting me discouraged...but slow and steady wins the race right? I've lost 108lbs and I've got 22lbs to go. It's doable!

I am right there with you. The last 15-20lbs are going to be the hardest :/

it can be/is frustrating waiting for those last few lbs go away from the deadly scale!! It WILL happen! - it's like a bad headache and your weight- they've been hanging around too long - all of a sudden you realize their gone!!! - good luck - - kathy

  14. I'm in ! Thanks for taking over...I find these "challenge" threads really do hold me accountable and if I fall off track....I get back on.

    Memorial Day Challenge

187.0 lbs this morning. So pumped scale is going in the right direction.
  16. I really want to get a DEXA scan to get my body fat %, lean muscle mass, and my RMR...but there is only ONE place around here to get it done and it's $250 for both tests. A friend of mine is moving to Chicago and there is a DexaFit out there and I can get both (if I prepay for 4 tests) for $150....so when I go visit her this fall I might prepay and get a scan...and then get another scan next year

You want to take health advise from Coke?

@@Dub I rather like the Fairlife milk too! It's pricey though. Dasani Water - don't buy it, but in a pinch I would. Coca Cola had to diversify into other things because their sales of soda are taking....well not really they are still making billions but it's not the same amount of billions they made before. I haven't ingested soda in a long time. I used to drink it daily, but as of about 3 years ago I went cold turkey. I did have a period prior to surgery where I let it back in my life for a little while but once I decided to pursue surgery I eliminated it again. Will I NEVER have a soda for the rest of my life? Probably not....I can see a ginger ale in my future maybe....or a root beer float for a treat....but every day? NAH. No thanks. I just don't want to waste the calories drinking them.
  18. @@dawnmac3903 yes I live near and I work in Boston.
  19. BIDMC (Beth Israel...) is where I originally started my weight loss journey back in 2009...I was scheduled to have the lap-band but my insurance company denied the surgery the day before it was scheduled. Fast forward to 2015 I have new insurance and ended up having the surgery done at Steward - St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton and had the VSG......everything happens for a reason! BIDMC has a good program I'm sure. I can also attest to the great crew at St. E's....and at Mt. Auburn in Cambridge as my mom had her surgery there. I really do live in a great part of the country for health care options.

    Today is the day!

Best of luck! Let us know how your recovery goes.
  21. I've lost 106lbs. I have done walking, Zumba, and Yoga. I recently started Zumba and Yoga....it's not like I was 295lbs and hopping around doing Zumba..I couldn't have done it! Same with Yoga! For the first 8-9 months I mostly walked. I just walked whenever I could....at breaktime, at lunchtime, before work, after work.....you get the picture. At first I couldn't do much without being winded...then it got easier. I think your plan is solid! Once you start to feel comfortable with the Water workout...change it up!

Going to ask mom to move out

It sounds like that was a VERY difficult talk to have but you must feel good now that it's over?! It sounds like she won't be far away. I think your relationship and your kids relationship with her will be better once she has her own place. Congrats for sticking up for what you felt was right for you and your kids and having the hard talk.
  23. Margie122

    Didn't feel full!

I agree with Bufflehead....egg whites are so light you might not get a full sensation. Watch for those signs she listed (runny nose, burping, etc...) and stick to the portion sizes that your doc and NUT gave you. Once you start eating more solid foods you will likely have a different feeling of "fullness". It's easy to go from being able to eat to realizing you took one bite too many! Best of luck...

    Clean Slate

@@cseidman - Congratulations on your surgery. I would caution you with the "drink anything but soda"...of course giving up soda is a great thing but please don't replace it with other high calorie beverages and/or alcohol. It would be really easy to start drinking sweetened lemonade, iced tea, fruit juices, etc. and rack up the calories. Just be careful I have a fitbit and I love it too. You will be amazed at how much good information you can get from it.
