Glad you are doing well! My husband had surgery with Dr. Lopez at Mi Doctor a few hours ago. So far he is doing well!

Had VSG in July with Dr. Garcia now I'm in Mexico again with my husband who is having surgery today at Mi Doctor. Will be in Mexico until Monday and staying at the Marriott. Anyone else here?

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

Finally broke my stall!!! I'm so excited! 2 more lbs... Gone. On another good note, this weekend I went shopping with my husband and discovered I can now wear a size large top! It's so weird because at my heaviest I was a 2xl. I've always thought those who could wear size large were normal sized women. It's hard to think of myself that way... I'm still amazed that I can even fit into a size large! The best is yet to come

Finally broke my stall!!! I'm so excited! 2 more lbs... Gone. On another good note, this weekend I went shopping with my husband and discovered I can now wear a size large top! Wednesdayzchild...thanks for the new direction!!! I have been exercising and I'm not going to stop...water is my friend...so I will wait, patiently for the trusty scale to one day decide to MOVE!!!!

Honestly drinking Water and excerise. I think with some stalls you just have to wait them out. I kept a close watch on my calories and tried not to over do it with carbs. Anytime I ate over 800 calories I got on the eliptical. I have been eating the same things for Breakfast and lunch for over a week. Greek yogurt for Breakfast and a ready made tuna pouch that was 100 calories with either a mini babybel or a half of avocado. dinner was basically whatever I wanted. I cut out the Protein shakes because they don't fill me up and I ending up eating food a little bit afterward which increased my calories quite a bit.

I was Sleeved July 4th with Dr. Garcia at florence. I have had no complications. He is very knowledgeable and skilled. Honestly you don't get to seem him much though. I was really impressed with his staff. I'm down 13 Lbs. I had a stall at the beginning of my 2nd week, but I read and decided I needed to up my Protein. I am trying to get in 90 grams a day. I have been doing this drinking one gladiator smoothie from smoothie king (45g protein) and one Isopure a day. The rest I get from soft food. If you have any questions about, I would be more than happy to answer them

Sophia - I read a few people calling their sleeves their "grouch pouch." Ha! I think that title fits right now. Glad you're doing well. I feel so much better today!

I am two weeks post-op today and recommend Dr. Fernando Garcia and his team highly.

Feeling much better, just trying to take it easy. One of my incisions is still very sore but the rest are healing nicely. Everything I eat or drink brings stomach gurgles .. It's so embarrassing because they are loud. I can usually get in one or two spoonfuls of Soup before the fireworks begin

I'm here now and I heard there were 6 of you guys flying in for Dr. Garcia today. Hope you all have safe flights and when you get to the hospital stop by room 14 and say Hello if you'd like, my name is Sophia. Everyone here is very welcoming and warming. I feel completely at ease! Safety shouldn't be an issue, you may need someone to help you though after surgery. The nurses here are really great though so if you have to come by yourself you will be well taken care of!

Sitting in florence now, my surgery is up next. My mom had hers this first and now she is sleeping and my sister is in there now. I am a ball of nerves!!
