  1. Surgery was 4/23/13. I've hit the 2-3 week stall also. I have lost 13 pounds, but the scale isn't budging. I eat just under under 600 calories daily, 60-80 grams of protein and about 45-50oz of fluid. Fluid intake has been the hardest for me since the start. I'm walking a 1/2 mile each day. We just have to trust it will come off if we follow the plan.

    splenic infarction

I had one too. They said it would resolve on its own eventually. I was readmitted to the hospital 8 hours after my initial discharge. It started with chills, then high fevers and pretty bad left upper quadrant pain. I've been doing well so far at 3 weeks out, but started having intermittent left upper quadrant pain the past 3 days again. No other symptoms than that, so I haven't contacted my doctor. I think it just may be the internal healing.
  3. Flowerchild, I am also 17 days out today and down 11 pounds. Haven't lost anything in 3 days. I fear the dreaded 2 week stall. I'm so impatient!

    Stalling so soon?!

I think I may have hit a stall at 2 weeks out. I'm 17 days out today. I'm following my doctor's plan to the letter and I just have to trust that i will in fact lose more than 11 pounds during this journey! Had a very depressing day today.

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

I'm 5'1" and had the sleeve on 4/23/13. Down 11 pounds at 2 weeks. My "ideal body weight" is 105, but there is no chance in heck I'm going to make that! I would look emaciated! I'm aiming for 120, that seems more realistic.
  6. Surgery was 4/23. I gained 18 pounds in 3 days while still in the hospital after my sleeve. I was readmitted to the hospital 8 hours after my initial discharge after it was found I had lost blood flow to 20% of my spleen, presumably from a blood clot. I received a large amount of IV fluid in that time which resulted in those 18 pounds. I lost that in 5 days plus an additional 9 pounds since, but to me, those 18 pounds of fluid "don't count". I was just wondering if anyone else had a large weight gain immediately post-op.

    Sleeved April 23rd

I'm down 10 pounds today. I feel like a slow loser compared to you guys! I'm on pureed and that is going well. I eat about 2oz per meal. Water intake is always 10-15oz short of 64, but managing to get all my protein in. I'm think I'm finally at the point where I'm not constantly asking myself "what did I do to myself?"
  8. It is when blood flow is cut off to part of the spleen. In my case, it was 20% of my spleen. I'm perfectly fine now with no ill effects. They suspected it was from a blood clot.

    Sleeved April 23rd

Surgery was 4/23 also. I had a complication and was back in the ER within 8 hours of discharge and stayed 2 more days. I was horrified to see that I had gained 18 pounds in 3 days from all the IV fluids. I lost that in 5 days and have since lost another 7 pounds. I'm doing great, no adverse effects from the complication and I can't wait to see what the future had in store for me!
  10. Had my sleeve on 4/23/13 and although I'm not that far out, I was able to discontinue my water pill (and potassium supplement) and my BP pill was decreased to half the original dose. This was all while still inpatient! The weight is dropping of and for the first time in many years, I have a positive outlook for the future. Good luck to you!

    Wearing Jeans again.

I'm 11 days out and wore jeans a week after surgery. Not the most comfortable option, but I wanted to try. I've done it a couple times since.

    Stalling so soon?!

10 days out and th e losing is sloooow. Driving me nuts!
  13. I know this is an older thread, but wanted to share that I also had a splenic infarct. I was admitted to the ER within 8 hours of discharge. I had excellent and swift care that evening and the infarct was found rather quickly with a CT scan. I spent 2 more days in the hospital and have completely recovered. Thankfully no more complications. I'm astounded that you weren't informed of the infarct. I hope you are feeling better at this point.
  14. Thank you for this post! It was just what I needed to hear. I'm 10 days post-op and I've been hard on myself every day since.
