    Great topic!!
I am 35 and have been teaching high school special education for 11 years in NY. My second job is a single mom to a 3 1/2 yr old! Yesterday marked two weeks that I was sleeved. Feeling great! Down about 17lbs post-op and getting REALLY bored with my liquid diet. One more week and I'm in to puréed : ). Looking forward to the next chapter.

Stace, could you do humanity a favour? Could you please use your formidable skills, in line with the project you're already undertaking, to develop an 'idiot detector', too? A geo-locating tool that allows you to see the idiots around you and remove yourself from their presence accordingly! I dunno, you could base it on the types of Cookies stored on their computer/smart phone after using Google as their search engine. In a 1984 Orwellian fashion, if individuals have a certain pattern of surfing behaviour, you could give them a social ranking. Anything around the 1-3 is green and 'normal'. 4-6 is amber, with evidence of weirdness present. 7-9, okay, these dudes are starting to get a bit freaky. 10, they're in a league of their own - run for the hills! I know I'd pay a fair amount of money for a service like that! How COOL would that be - particularly if you're in the dating game?! You got skills, girl, get on it!

Do you still feel it? It should have dissolved by now.
I always either get chewable calciums or just chew up the tablets. The tablets taste bad but I'm not picky about taste. i sometimes chew up a chewable multivitamin with it to drown out the taste.

My only lasted about 2 months and then stopped. I agree with the above person about losing because of weight loss. I have had quite a few surgeries in my life time and this is the only time my hair fell out.

My SIL has been losing a lot of her hair and she's lost a lot of weight with diet and exercise (no surgery). It scared her so bad she went to the Dr who said its completely normal and it's a shock to the body just like having a baby - it's hormones. I am losing mine to (4.5 months post op) and cut mine to.

It IS totally normal, and it WILL stop. From what I hear (and my doctor agrees), you can do all of the Protein and Vitamins in the world, and it will still probably fall out. They say it is because your body is going through such a radical change/adjustment. Once the rapid weight loss slows down, so will the Hair loss. In the mean time, I am just buying cute hats.

you are going thru the NORMAL stages. Just remember what falls out,, will come back... just be patient, and remember that you notice the hair loss where others will not. Don't fret about it. I was reading the other day somewhere where you can now buy hair Fiber to put in your hair, it is really fibers that stick to your hair and make it look fuller, I have not researched it.
Scottsgirl, I have drank premier Protein from day one, Yes I still lost hair, but it has all grown back and if I could I would give anyone half of mine I have very thick hair. I do think it helps because of the nutrients and Protein. I recommend it over any other out there, just because I also like the taste of it.
Best of luck to all of you!

I had a consult with a surgeon and he's trying to talk me into the band. Given my bmi is only 36, He thinks I will loose a great amount of weight and become malnourished. I believe there are other reason for his push on the band. Like follow ups and the fills, means more . I over heard him through the wall, to the room next to mine, trying to push the band on another patient. Should I give the band a try first then have revision later if it fails?? So stressed over this!
I have had the band for five years and for about the first 2 1/2 it worked great. I am finishing my final process to have a revision to the sleeve. Because my complications with the band are becoming so unbearable! I am actually on an all starch diet due to gastritis which I have NEVER had in my life. Now with these last few weeks constant diarrhea and dry heaves are horrible and make u feel dizzy!
Honestly I would choose the sleeve first if I knew what I know now. Aftercare is set up for any and everything required. You don't even come in till you feel you need it.
Why put yourself through two surgeries the sleeve was the newest option When I got my band five years ago
Chat With me privately if you want to keep talking about it

I too initially opted for the band as I'm considered lightweight BMI 37 have a few colleagues that have dropped huge numbers on the band and done well then I did more research and read about all the negatives the slippage of the band, the eroding of the band, the cost of the fills the wait time from surgery to first fill, the vomiting, the restrictions etc I changed my mind to the sleeve. It's a personal decision scary I know research research and good luck to you sister :-)

beauty now i understand why your doc is pushing the lapband!!!
he isn't familiar with the sleeve since you live in a "hic" town
sound like you gotta go out of your comfort zone (city) and find a dr that has done many sleeves
    please don't compromise yourself
it might be a little harder traveling somewhere but its worth it!!!!
hope you find a new doc sooner than later
make sure who ever you find - to check his references/record
    good luck
    kathy

none of the other doctor's offer the sleeve? The docs on your approved list of physicians? That sounds really weird. I would stick to the sleeve, personally. I've had friends where the band slipped and caused them lots of pain and not just in the stomach area. She was having intense back pain. I had another friend who got the band but never got it filled because of time.....
I wish you all the luck!
