LipstickLady got a reaction from Loriamen in What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
Good for you. It's a CHOICE not a cheat. I think I make MUCH better choices when I start thinking of them as that instead of "cheats". I not only own my choices, but I own the consequences. I'm far too old to waste time feeling guilty.

LipstickLady got a reaction from learn2cook in Shaving before surgery
When I had my first child, she came a month early so my pedicure was a hot mess, I hadn't shaved my legs or cootch for 6 months or so (couldn't reach or see) and I had eaten enchiladas the day before so every time I pushed, I was "productive". To make matters worse, my baby nurse was a girl I despised in college and they were short handed so I couldn't switch.
Seriously. It could be worse and they have SEEN worse.

LipstickLady got a reaction from Christi Hawkins in Fat Acceptance Movement - how do you feel?
I've not read all the replies and I will when I have more time, but my initial response is that the whole "movement" is ridiculous. Bullying or discrimination of EVERY flavor should talked about but I do think Tumblr and other social media has created some very special snowflakes that think they are entitled to feel "shamed" or "bullied" over the smallest of slights instead of just manning up and moving on. They have completely watered down the meaning of both words taking away from the terms when they really matter.
There is a BIG difference between told you can't do something because of your size and expecting special allowances (ie two seats on a plane for the price of one) because of your size. When I was at my heaviest, I expected to pay extra for my bigger clothes. I didn't demand that amusement parks make special accommodations because I couldn't fit in all the attractions. I knew trendier styles would come with a big price tag and would be few and far between.

LipstickLady got a reaction from Annemr in My Pre Op Diet Was All I Needed
Good for you! Any weight loss achievement is to be applauded, no matter the method and no one way is better than any other as long as the end result of better health and fitness is achieved.
I've got to ask, @@Chuckster . You just recently joined this forum (a weight loss surgery support forum), you lost a whole lot of weight non surgically, and both posts you've made since joining have been about losing weight non-surgically. What's your agenda in being here?

I personally think you are spending money you don't need to spend.

LipstickLady got a reaction from SoulGardener in I smell funny?
I smelled like a jar of filthy dirty pennies. No matter how many times a day I brushed my teeth, my breath reeked. In the morning, our bedroom had to be aired out from my all night exhalations. Soooooooo disgusting.

Ketosis! It will go away soon enough. Well, not really soon enough, but it will go away. It's disgusting but normal.

Would y'all shut up about this? I told my husband it would kill us both so he stopped asking.

LipstickLady got a reaction from Lizzziee in Hair loss 1 year out
I'm no "warrior", I'm no "expert" and I definitely have NOTHING in common with a certain member linked with me up there.
I can only speak on MY experience. I've lost hair' with every rapid weight loss diet I've gone on from Atkins to WWs to my sleeve. Once I incorporate fat back into my diet, the hair' loss (and nail breakage) slows.
High protein', high fat does much more to slow hair' loss IN MY OPINION than any supplement.
But again, that is just MY opinion.
Hair' loss seems to hit 99% of us, but that is also just my opinion based on what I've read here.

LipstickLady got a reaction from Mrs. Hayes in VET'S FORUM. What the %^&* is going on around here?
We have all these newbies coming in with questions/statements that make me wonder if they ever sat down with a NUT, their surgeon or if they were given any type of pre-op training.
Is it OK to eat pizza/tacos/fried chicken? Is ice cream soft? How about milk shakes? I ate swedish fish/noodles/rice a few days post op. I am eating french fries and chicken nuggets, but it's ok because I'm ok so everyone else will be too. I want it so I ate it and I am going to get mad an anyone and everyone who tells me it wasn't a good idea.
Anyone who disagrees is mean, rude, sarcastic, judgmental, non supportive, a bully, horrible, rotten, a monster. I get that this backlash is a defense mechanism because they know deep down that they are wrong but it still sucks to watch this downward spiral that is happening here.
It's not great advice to chew and spit. It's not great advice to move along with your food stages because (you think) your body is telling you that it's OK. (Your body does NOT know best or you wouldn't be in this spot in the first place.)
Vets should leave because all the above advice and pandering and coddling is MUCH better than real, honest, truthful, experienced answers.
It's a freaking $h!tstorm out there the last few weeks. Seriously.

LipstickLady got a reaction from clsumrall in Husband says he doesn't like skinny women...WTH!
I'd personally tell my husband to kiss my butt and then I'd help him pack. His insecurities shouldn't block your path to good health.
He might prefer heavier women, but I prefer smart confident men.

Almonds are delicious! Don't explore the flavors for sure if you can't stop. Almonds fill me up quickly, so I love all the options.
Stay safe!!!

LipstickLady got a reaction from clsumrall in What is your most embarrassing NSV?
My pants falling down DURING a kickboxing class will always be a "my face was red" moment, especially because it happened in front of my Martial Arts Instructor. WHOOOOOPS!!

LipstickLady got a reaction from Mrs. Rob in I've got something to say and clearly I can't say it "out there".
I am scared for some of these newbies and the lurkers who are reading. This fear is probably a huge part of why I don't just log off permanently.
Is it just me or does the trend seem to be "I'll eat what I want when I want no matter what my surgeon says" with other people actually coddling/recommending/applauding/defending that viewpoint?
When I joined this site, I had my @ss handed to me several times (THANK GOD!!) because I wondered why (out loud) my diet was so restrictive. I wanted permission to break some rules because it was damn hard to follow them. I never did test those waters (with the exception of a Hershey's Kiss one week post op -- it tasted like I imagine licking an ashtray would) because the experienced people scared the **** out of me with talks of leaks, tears, vomiting, and the worst? BEING A FAILURE AT WLS.
Maybe because I had my surgery in my 40s -- after decades of being fat and ready for a change -- I didn't take those words as "ganging up", "bullies", or "mean girls". Maybe it was because I knew in my head that I was being a dumbass every time I whined about wanted something salty instead of sweet. Maybe because I had the self realization that "listening to my body" put me in a place where I needed WLS, so clearly listening to me was a horrible idea...
I will never forget my first WLS seminar. There was a young girl a few rows in front of me who was scheduled for surgery the next week. When we were going over the dietary stages post op, she raised her hand and told the NUT she has a bachelorette party a week after her surgery. She TOLD this woman that she WOULD be eating wings and drinking, no matter what. It was, after all, her body and her right. I would love to know what happened to her. Ideally, they took her off the surgery schedule. Most likely, she had surgery and is still obese 3 years later.
I wish great success to anyone and everyone who has WLS. The quality of life this procedure has given back to me is worth all the coookies (sic) and crackers and french fries in the world. (Even McD's -- fresh out of the fryer!!) I hope everyone gets to experience everything they want to experience in a thinner, healthier body. I would love to hear less and less stories of people who never lost or gained it all back but I fear that those stories are just going to multiply with this new mindset.
It's a shame. It's a great big DAMN shame.

LipstickLady got a reaction from imadethelist in Do you still identify as a wls patient?
Nope. Well, here I do obviously, and with another group of favorite people on the WWW, but other than that? Nope.
I didn't tell people because I want a normal life. I don't identify as a brain tumor patient either (unless I want something) and that was a far bigger deal than some stomach cut out.
