  1. The gas was bad for a couple of days after surgery due to all the air they pump in you to expand your belly, the pain for me anyway, was only bad for a few days. I haven't taken pain meds since last week.

But I think you may need to research another doctor! I was in the hospital for 4 days, I have 5 incisions, it was done laparoscopically, actually robotically. My personal opinion, and that of my doc as well apparently, is a 3-4 day hospital stay. I could barely walk for a few days. I am still very slow on my feet.

  2. All things considered, it went very well. The surgery lasted approximately 3 to 4 hours, and I was in the hospital for four days. On the upside, I have lost 15 pounds in a week! The downside is no energy, and dealing with occasional nausea

I'm glad I chose it though. I would do it again! I'm having food issues (like I hate anything puréed!!) and I can't wait till next week for soft foods!

  3. When I have the DS done in a month and a half, I am REALLY afraid of not losing because I had the sleeve prior to this surgery and I won't be getting a sleeve revision. Am I really going to lose weight? Is getting just the DS worth it? The doctors say I will, but I would like to hear it from some veterans of this 2 part procedure who actually had 2 different parts! Thanks in advance...

  4. Thanks for the reply!! I am excited too. During one of my preops yesterday I had to drink contrast and it has constipated me so bad I feel awful! They wanted to see my sleeve and apparently I have a hiatal hernia.

But the surgery I am soooo looking forward to. I heard someone say their weight loss was slow and I was hoping mine isn't

  5. Thanks for all the responses..... Sounds like I am just about where you guys are at about 800- 900 calories a day. My doc says the most important thing at this point is that if I am not hungry, don't eat!! Example, just because its dinner time, you don't have to eat then.

  6. Do what I heard another sleever suggest here in VST: get a few disposable cameras and take a weekly photo of yourself for the first year' date=' on your 1 year surgiversary get the camera developed and you will see right there the progression of your success! Wish I had though to do that![/quote']

That's a great idea. I took a 3 day post op pic this am on my phone, but the disposable camera is a really cool idea! Thanks!

  7. I finally did it! I got sleeved on June 10th! I don't know how much weight I have lost since the surgery as my bathroom scale tops out at 400#, but my clothes are a little looser. I am so thankful to have been able to have this surgery, and that u am feeling a little better each day! I can't wait for the future when little things like buckling my seat belt and sitting in a booth at a restaurant aren't worrisome for me! My HW was 448#, SW 437, and losing. I just keep living in the moment!

  8. My surgery is this Monday, and I have been feeling a little anxious and scared about it. After reading ur post, tho, I am inspired to keep on going! If I can do even part of what you have done I will be thrilled! I am starting at 440#, and it is overwhelming, but you are a great example of what determination can do! Thanks for the post!

  9. I know just how you feel. I, like you, am active and work 7 days a week. I am starting this journey at 448 pounds. I don't think anyone really realizes what I weigh either, and I don't know that I will ever tell anyone exactly where I started! I am having my surgery in one week (June 10), and I can only take it one day at a time! Good luck to you on your journey. This forum has really helped me, and I hope it can help you too.

  10. Your story is so inspirational!! I am having my surgery in one week, and tho I am a little anxious, I am more afraid of NOT doing it and being able to live my life the way I want to! Thanks for sharing your wonderful story.... I am stating out at the same weight as you were before surgery. It's good to know that it CAN be done!!

  11. With two children' date=' next week Ill be cleaning again too , what you think we need to bring to the hospital? My dr said walking shoes ..[/quote']

I am going to try to bring as little as possible; less to keep up with! I know I have to bring my cpap, and I guess a change of underwear lol! But I'll wear clean comfortable clothes there so I can wear those home. They will make I put ona a gown right after getting there. And I suppose ur doc is right about the shoes too!
