  1. I am having my DS surgery in the morning- I am excited/anxious/happy and I hope I can sleep tonight...... I had a VSG 3 years ago, so that part of healing is done. I just hope all goes well and I can make it to the losers bench! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery tomorrow!

The gas was bad for a couple of days after surgery due to all the air they pump in you to expand your belly, the pain for me anyway, was only bad for a few days. I haven't taken pain meds since last week. But I think you may need to research another doctor! I was in the hospital for 4 days, I have 5 incisions, it was done laparoscopically, actually robotically. My personal opinion, and that of my doc as well apparently, is a 3-4 day hospital stay. I could barely walk for a few days. I am still very slow on my feet. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery tomorrow!

All things considered, it went very well. The surgery lasted approximately 3 to 4 hours, and I was in the hospital for four days. On the upside, I have lost 15 pounds in a week! The downside is no energy, and dealing with occasional nausea I'm glad I chose it though. I would do it again! I'm having food issues (like I hate anything puréed!!) and I can't wait till next week for soft foods! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. I am so excited/nervous/anxious and ready to go for Monday! I can't wait to be on the losers bench- I have been on Optifast for the last two weeks of prep and have dropped 20 pounds so far- can't wait to start my new life! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. When I have the DS done in a month and a half, I am REALLY afraid of not losing because I had the sleeve prior to this surgery and I won't be getting a sleeve revision. Am I really going to lose weight? Is getting just the DS worth it? The doctors say I will, but I would like to hear it from some veterans of this 2 part procedure who actually had 2 different parts! Thanks in advance... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Afraid of not losing!

I'm afraid because I have so much more to lose.... I still have another 150 or so to go. My highest weight was 470 and I'm down to 360 now. I'm afraid of not going anywhere with it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Hello everyone! I am a VSG to DS revision and I'm so e cited that I have my surgery date! How has everyone else's weight loss been after this decision? Just looking for advice on how things went as far as weight loss- Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery Date- June 13th!

Thanks for the reply!! I am excited too. During one of my preops yesterday I had to drink contrast and it has constipated me so bad I feel awful! They wanted to see my sleeve and apparently I have a hiatal hernia. But the surgery I am soooo looking forward to. I heard someone say their weight loss was slow and I was hoping mine isn't Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Hi everyone..... I am new to posting on this site, and I am hoping for some encouragement! I am hopefully being sleeved in June (we are shooting for the 10th) and I am both excited and scared to death! I didn't think I could have both emotions at once! Lol I just feel like losing so much weight (200+ pounds) is so daunting, and I hope I am making the right decision. Has anyone else felt this way? Sent from my iPhone using VST
  16. How many calories a day are we supposed to be having a day? I am one month out (and down 45 pounds!!) but all my doc says is be sure to "under-eat". Any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Calories....

Thanks for all the responses..... Sounds like I am just about where you guys are at about 800- 900 calories a day. My doc says the most important thing at this point is that if I am not hungry, don't eat!! Example, just because its dinner time, you don't have to eat then. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  18. I was crushing mine and adding them to unsweetened applesauce. It worked fine. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  19. I finally did it! I got sleeved on June 10th! I don't know how much weight I have lost since the surgery as my bathroom scale tops out at 400#, but my clothes are a little looser. I am so thankful to have been able to have this surgery, and that u am feeling a little better each day! I can't wait for the future when little things like buckling my seat belt and sitting in a booth at a restaurant aren't worrisome for me! My HW was 448#, SW 437, and losing. I just keep living in the moment! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  20. My surgery is this Monday, and I have been feeling a little anxious and scared about it. After reading ur post, tho, I am inspired to keep on going! If I can do even part of what you have done I will be thrilled! I am starting at 440#, and it is overwhelming, but you are a great example of what determination can do! Thanks for the post! It's so easy to get discouraged

I know just how you feel. I, like you, am active and work 7 days a week. I am starting this journey at 448 pounds. I don't think anyone really realizes what I weigh either, and I don't know that I will ever tell anyone exactly where I started! I am having my surgery in one week (June 10), and I can only take it one day at a time! Good luck to you on your journey. This forum has really helped me, and I hope it can help you too. 22. Your story is so inspirational!! I am having my surgery in one week, and tho I am a little anxious, I am more afraid of NOT doing it and being able to live my life the way I want to! Thanks for sharing your wonderful story.... I am stating out at the same weight as you were before surgery. It's good to know that it CAN be done!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
