    Beware! woman traveling to TJ

Janice, if you haven't left the convo yet, they tried to explain it to you several times before things got nasty, but you kept pushing on a sensitive issue instead of just shrugging and silently "agreeing to disagree". Laura you are, as ever, the voice of reason. And it's all true, every word of what Blindsided has said.

    6 months post op

So inspirational! Keep up the good work!
  5. I think at least two weeks. I'm a flight attendant, I took two weeks off and now I'm going for three, because I just don't quite feel "up to it" yet. Rest and recuperation is vital to healing.

    When can we drink soda

In JohnLatte's defense (not that you need it, John, as you make your point brilliantly and politely) The person who posted the original question presumably has not yet had any soda. They have posted here to inquire when it might be safe to drink it again. Now if any of us went to an AA meeting and asked "when is it safe to have a beer?" not a SINGLE soul there will say "oh, whenever you feel up to it!" That's called enabling; not support. They will do all in their power to remind that person of why they should not have a drink. It's a different story than when someone goes to an AA meeting and announces that they already had a drink, in which case yes, they would probably be showered with compassion. Had the original poster made a different post, something along the lines of "so I had a soda, is that really so bad?" that indicated that the deed had already been done, then perhaps it might have been appropriate to be supportive and gently encouraging (and even then, someone is bound to do some chastising).

    Pear shaped vs Apple shaped?

Oh and how is your skin, Kalimom, if you don't mind my asking? It looks so smooth and firm.

    Pear shaped vs Apple shaped?

Wow! How far out from surgery are you? I love your pics, between one month to the next there was a drastic change. And you look great in the bathing suit.
  11. Laura, whereabouts do you live? You mentioned boutique shopping (just typing that makes me nervous, I've never dreamed of going into a boutique). I saw a lot of shops like that when I lived in Atlanta. Now I'm in Houston and I haven't noticed any. Do they carry a variety of sizes at the boutiques in your area? Besides XXS, XS and S? sn: I hope you had a good camping trip!
  12. Wow thanks all! You guys rock. For some reason I wasn't aware that anyone was answering me...must've messed up my notifications somehow. Anyway some of your responses have me giggling. And others are just very insightful. Ah, Cowgirljane, heels. *sigh* One day, maybe. I have such a flat foot I think, that I'm not sure if losing weight will really make it easier for me to wear heels. But I wish. I'm 5'2, I can use a little assistance in that area. LOL Ms. Antiband, I'm currently a jeans and hoodie kinda girl. It's my uniform. We joke that I'm like an anime character...clothes never change. Hah, neneh, I feel you. I'd really rather like to keep the curve of my booty as well. It's definitely a cultural thing. I'm a pear shape, for sure...I could almost claim hourglass but I'm not very busty. My weight is in my hips, lower belly, thighs, calves, cankles...I genuinely despair over how my legs are going to turn out, I truly do. All the after photos I see are women with mostly sort of apple shapes, so they have these really fab legs. Which brings me to Kelly's post.. Speaking of legs...and dresses. I never wear dresses. Ever. Or shorts. Ever. And I really really want to. They look easy and fun and much more comfy than jeans. Not to mention cool. Every Summer I'm still essentially wearing what I wear in the fall minus the jacket. I'd love to dress more femininely; I guess I could at least try maxi dresses and those flowy, ankle length skirts. Thank you for the feedback, and humor, everyone
  13. I've never been into shopping (mostly because it's a painful experience but also because I haven't the patience or tenacity for it). I tend to buy a look right off of the mannequin. But although I am only a couple of weeks out from surgery, I greatly look forward to a time when I might actually enjoy trying on clothes, and be able to wear things that other young women my age can wear. I certainly can appreciate a well put-together look on someone else, and I'm okay with color matching. I fancy myself a more bohemian or edgy/rock kinda girl, based on what I've read in magazines and online. But beyond that, I'm not so sure I have the creativity to put together any truly unique, daring, eye-catching looks. So here's my question: how do those of us just foraying into fashion, who want to recreate our image, learn HOW to dress well (*cough* on a budget *cough*)? Anyone on this forum who is super artsy and creative and expressive? Anyone who just loves fashion? Know any good websites and books? Please do tell.

    Full Liquid Phase. Blah!

Bruff, I'm 4/22 as well, and I think I have another five days or so of full liquids. Like the rest of you I am thoroughly bored to death. Can't wait to eat an egg (don't even like eggs that much). Man oh man, I'm gonna eat that egg so hard. That egg won't know what hit it! But anyway, misery loves company. It secretly pleases me to know that all of you are suffering over your soup as well. Heh.
