Teachamy got a reaction from A'sgotthis in How much food could you consume 6 months post op?
I have done that too. I stick a measuring cup in a plastic baggie and throw it in my bag when we go out. It helps me remind my brain I am in control, and my tummy does need excess portions.

I ate healthy meals--no pre-op diet per sé. My doctor considered my weight from our first appointment and didn't weigh me thereafter. Insurance was no problem. She wasn't worried about a fatty liver with me either, considering my relatively low BMI. I'm sure that's what your surgeon is thinking. You will be fine. Breathe, my fellow low BMI'er. This is the best decision you ever made!

Yes, this happens to most people. Muscle apparently has more dense mass than fat does. Take your measurements and judge based on your clothes. The weight will continue to come off, but weight doesn't always go in a straight line downward. You will see it go down, plateau, creep up, go down, plateau. Eventually you will be able to see the trend. My best advice is to weigh no more than once a week. It is easier to see the tend (progress) that way, and you won't drive yourself crazy with daily weight-checks. Good luck!

I sucked it up and got some bikinis. Not cute with an overhanging gut, but way preferable to them hanging out of my pants. I also found I have no hips, so I bit the bullet and started buying belts. Got a black one, a brown one, and a really cute one woven in Peru. I never wore belts when I had a muffin top, but now I see why skinny people wear them!

Please don't throw in the towel yet! An average weight loss goal is 1-3 pounds a week. Contrary to our beliefs, we don't always lose weight in a straight line. There are minor ups and downs along the way as we trend downward. At this rate, you have lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. You are above the average. So stick to the plan and have patience. (I drive myself nuts if I weigh more than once a week, btw. Weighing yourself every day can be counter-productive, in my opinion.)
    You can do this!

There is no shame admitting that you have low self-esteem. As such, it may feel easier to focus on the scary, dare I say, superficial aspects of weight-loss. But as someone who had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and difficult-to-control Diabetes, (I have Type I--autoimmune diabetes. Mine can't be cured) I urge you put the physical appearance aspects aside for a minute. Your body is sending you strong signals that it is breaking down and will continue to break down at your current weight. Your very life is in jeopardy.
Since my surgery my cholesterol is normal, my blood pressure is normal, my insulin levels have decreased drastically, I have no more sleep apnea, no more A-fib... the list goes on. And in terms of vanity, I love being a size 8-10. I don't care if my belly will always be flabby. You can't see the flab under my clothes, bathing suits, or lingerie.
This is the best decision I have ever made and I hope you make it too!

    @@Big Opie
almost 3 years ago i reached goal
    down 105 lbs
    i was 58 years YOUNG
i noticed that my rear end+ had a lot of sagging skin
definitely firmed up a "bit" within a few months
age does matter in this case
being a youngun - your skin "should" tighten up for the better
you'll probably still have some hanging skin
    "DEAL WITH IT"
a little hanging skin won't kill you
    being overweight can
good luck with your decision about having surgery
    decision, decisions, decisions

You're so young that I doubt you'll have much problem with saggy skin. And if you do have small issues, you can find a way to have plastic surgery. But at your age you can practically grow new body organs. (Oh, to have had this surgery when I was 24/25!)
Maybe you're just venting and expressing some natural fears about really changing your life and what that will mean for you in many ways.
But in terms of your actual decision options, this decision is really a no-brainer: Get the weight off, keep it off, and get healthy.
If you lose weight without WLS, some very good, very long-term research on thousands of people says your odds of keeping the weight off are only 5% or 1 in 20 (or 30 or 40, depending on which research you prefer). If you have WLS, good research says your odds of keeping all or most of the weight off long-term are 50-60%. Obviously, WLS offers better odds for long-term success.
Obviously, WLS by itself may not solve your problem. You have to continue to learn and practice new behaviors and new attitudes and a new lifestyle to be successful long-term. But those will be easier to learn / practice with WLS than without. Trust me. I know. I'm 69 years old.
One other thing: You're already pretty heavy at this young age, and if you don't fix the problem now you'll gain more weight and soon weigh 300. And then maybe 350. And then maybe even 400. This problem never stays the same for those like us -- it just gets worse and worse.
I wish the very, very best for you. Chin up! Have courage! You can fix this. Many people have.

I too had the Mirena and was surprised when I bled for the first few weeks. It was light, but I usually didn't get a period. That being said, this January (1 yr. post-sleeve) I started bleeding again and found out I had a large fibroid that led to a hysterectomy. Most ob/gyn's will tell you if you are bleeding in a way that is abnormal for you, you should get it checked out because it is a sign of uterine or ovarian cancer. Luckily for me it was neither. I know it is very expensive, but peace of mind and assurance that you are healthy is very important!
