    The best NSV yet...

That's awesome!!! I'm sure you're very proud!! Congratulations to you!
  2. Lucky you! In the U.S., they throw you out of the hospital, as long as you wake up alive!
  3. Hope you feel better soon Smiley_Girl! I get all excited thinking about having my surgery but then reality sets in & I get nervous thinking how I'm going to feel afterward. I just don't bounce back like I used to when I was in my 20's or 30's or in my 40's! Good luck to you & hope by Monday, you'll be feeling wonderful & this will just be a distant memory!

    Scared?

I am pre-op but anytime I've lost weight on any other diet, the first things to deflate were "my girls." Truthfully, I'm okay with them going down a bit but hubby not that happy about that. I just want to look proportionate all over!

Thank you wynk! I'm so glad your experience has been wonderful! Toledo is the closest area of OH to us but it's still HOURS away. We drive thru there on our way to & from FL! Don't forget to posts pics as your weight drops! I'd love to see them!! Thank you again!

Sounds wonderful & I hope I come back with a glowing remark about my surgery & facility but Ypsilanti is just way too far. I have an autistic son whom I need to be close to. This will be traumatic enough for him that I won't be home for a night or two, but thank you very much for your suggestion! It means a lot to me!

Thank you Startfresh! Okay, Madison Heights isn't all that far from us. Novi is the other side of the state (haha) for me! My husband works in Southfield & I don't even drive over there for lunch or anything because it's just way too far for me! I don't even know where Grand Blanc is?? The sad part is that I have a couple hospitals close to me & the reason I went to the one I found dirty was because I went to the one in my neighborhood (had my son there, my Mom in hospice there & it's very clean) BUT while I can do most of the program out of my local hospital, the actual surgery & follow up visits with the surgeon is downtown because that one is a huge facility. I guess there is no room in O.R. for this program at my local hospital. Now last night I attended the Seminar at Troy Beaumont & I'm impressed & am seriously thinking of going there. I just have to get all my medical tests so that I can bring them to Troy & hopefully skip a few of the steps so I don't have to redo everything.

    Oh my!

That is such wonderful news!! Congratulations to you! Get that ticker up & running girl!!! (Then you can teach me how to do it!) LOL!
  9. Ouch! Nothing like tough love! LOL! Look, I'm sure I'm going to be looking for support too when it's my turn while I'm still preparing dinner for my family! The Booze idea sounds good tho! HAHA!!! I'm sure Vinsanity won't really cheat, but hopefully just looking for support. Hopefully.

My goodness...this was a very interesting site! Thank you so much for forwarding this link to me! Overall, it looks like the "other" hospital I am considering now (& have a seminar at this evening) scores higher than the one I've been going thru the program with! So this might really push me over the edge to possibly go with this other facility/program instead! Thank you, thank you, thank you MIChic!

Thank you Startfresh! I'm not sure where St. John Providence is but I have made a note of your doctor's name. In fact, I think I did research on both of those doctors when I first started to look into this surgery.

I called & unfortunately I do. So I'm attending the seminar tomorrow night & see where that takes me. I just won't have to get the same tests done again...I can bring copies from the hospital where I had the lab work & the cardiac stress test, but other than that, I have to re-do the other steps thru the new hospital.

That's exactly what I mean! After seeing how dirty this clinic was, attached to the hospital I'd be having major surgery in, it gave me the creeps (& nausea too) & now I don't want to return! Why did it take ME to bring it to their attention how disgusting it was in there? Why didn't a doctor, a nurse, or anyone else that worked there notice & make a call to have the rooms cleaned up? Don't they realize that patients are going to see these rooms & find it horrifying? I'm just still surprised...

Thank you. I will keep St. Mary's in mind, but Livonia is waaaaaaaay on the other side of town for us. Altho, I would consider it versus going downtown.

Well, I never did see the O.R., but I did ask if I could see a patient room but they said they don't offer tours. Hmm....well, I went there to meet the surgeon, & several other people pertaining to this surgery & was supposed to meet with the NUT but turns out she didn't come in that day. That place I went to that I found filthy was one of the most notable hospitals in the "D". Now I'm looking out in the 'burbs where I live.

    10 months :)

If you don't think 92 lbs is that much, picture 368 sticks of butter! They'd probably fill a room! Holy Moley!!! That's FANTASTIC & you look FANTASTIC!!!! Congratulations!

Unfortunately, not. He's even the director of this center. It's a MAJOR Detroit hospital too.

I'm a reasonable woman & think you offered great advice, BUT just the dust bunnies alone were near golf ball sized, sooooo doesn't look like it was just one missed cleaning type error. There was sticky bodily Fluid looking matter stuck on the chair I was sitting on...thankfully, it was a bariatric chair so it was nearly the size of a love seat & I was able to fit my XXL A$$ on one side away from that "matter" stuck to the chair. The scale I had to step on was so disgusting when the nurse asked me to take my shoes off to be weighed, I nearly jumped back in shock! I did take my shoes off & stepped on that just horribly dirty scale with my white bleached socks, but threw them away when I got home. I know everyone's standard of "clean" is subjective but in my opinion this would have made anyone run for the hills! Unfortunately, the surgeon told me I was the first to complain??!!! WHAT???!!! He also looked around & said "this room is unacceptable" & we moved to another room which was passable but I still saw lots of areas that needed a good cleaning. My husband was holding a reusable bag with my big notebook in it & Water bottles for us, & he just kept it on his lap. The surgeon said "you can place the bag down if you wish" & my husband said "not on your life, it's disgusting in here!" Actually, that's when the surgeon said "lets move to another room." My husband still didn't put the bag down on the floor even in the new room. So sad that a hospital facility was that disgusting.

Thanks Southernsoul! I hope so too. At least this other facility is only 10 mins from my home. The other one is in a bad area about 40 mins away.

    Costochronditis?

I thought costochronditis was a breathing problem? Well, obviously I don't know, but I do hope it goes away soon!

    Are Complication Posts Being Deleted

Wow...hope no complications posts are being deleted. I mean, we all know there are risks & I'd like to know the good, the bad & the ugly about the sleeve!

    No more NSAIDS?

I was told by my PCP that it's not suggested to take Ibuprofen anymore BUT he said about 3 months out, as long as you take something prescribed to coat your tummy, you can have ibuprofen in small doses. I eat them like candy due to my arthritis. I am freaking out that I have to stop 10 days prior to surgery. I tried to go 2 days without at first just to see how I'd do & I couldn't even walk around my house, I was so crippled & in such pain.

  25. Sorry to say, it wasn't a good experience at all. The surgeon was wonderful & I would have this surgery with him in a heartbeat BUT when I was at the clinic attached to the hospital, I was so disgusted by how filthy it was in there. Nothing to do with the surgeon but the 2 rooms I had been brought to first, were just nauseating! I had to complain immediately because I sat there crying for the first 30 mins. My husband was with me & wanted us to leave but I didn't want to leave without meeting the surgeon. Anyway....long story short, they were in the process of having someone clean that exam room from hell before I even left, but you know how it is, now it's the only thing on my mind. I can't seem to forget what I saw & no matter how much I'd want that surgeon to do my sleeve, I'm looking into another facility, just in case I decide to change my mind. Oh & I lost 1 pound since the last weigh in! LOL! At least I'm headed in the right direction! Thank you for asking!
