    January fitness challenge

Just checking in, been keeping up with the walking, bike/eliptical, and classes, not quite as many classes this time around, I just don't have the time... so.... MTD-walking-97 miles(will make my 100 mile goal and then some), 20 minutes/day eliptical or biking, 6 yoga classes, 5 strength sessions. I really think I'm going to sign up for the cardio-salsa class in February, it looks like fun!!

Keeping up with my walking, got in another yoga class, been riding the bike; MTD-80 miles, 6 yoga classes, 4 strength seesions & 20-30 min/day recumbent or eliptical. I think next month I'm going to try a tai chi class they are offering, or maybe cardio-salsa, so many choices, so little time......

    Newbie Here

Hi Cheryl, it's totally fine to have all those questions about if you should have the surgery or not, I think that we all had them at one time or another, please keep your appt with the psychologist, you can relay some of your fears to him. If you are anything like me(and it sounds like you are!), we tend to put everyone else before ourselves. I too thought that I should be able to lose weight by myself without the surgery, but, like you I had been trying for a long, long, time and I just couldn't budge it without the tool of weight loss surgery. Please poke around the site here and read lots of the subjects, you will see that we all have some kind of issues but with the surgery it makes it possible to finally lose weight. That be said, welcome to the site, I hope that we can help a little.
  4. Congrats to you, good job, pics soon?

    January fitness challenge

Just checking in, still doing what I'm suppose to be doing, not slacking off, MTD- 68 miles. 5 yoga classes , 4 strength sessions , and 20 min/day either eliptical or recumbent, I find that I'm favoring the recumbent, probably because I can't seem to do the eliptical nearly as long as the bike. Should be able to make my goals by the end of the month, I'm already thinking about what I want to do next month.

    January fitness challenge

Just checking in, I'm still getting in my walking, and also the eliptical and recumbent time, but work has been so crazy that I've had to cut back on my yoga and strength training sessions. I don't know how you all do it. I get up at 5:30 every am to get in the walking and I've been doing some fast intervals to keep up the heart rate(trainer says intervals are the way to go!) I'm so glad that I have my gym equipment set up in the basement because I have no excuse not to use it. It's harder to block out the time to go to the gym, but have promised myself I will go twice a week to get in one yoga class and one strength session. My trainer is so cool, she says just do what you've got to do and don't stress about the rest. MTD-52 miles walking, 4yc, 3 ss, 20 min/day either eliptical or bike.

    January fitness challenge

Well, I haven't been on in a while, have been super busy, but am still getting in the exercise. This is what I am up to so far: MTD-walking 40 miles, 4 yoga classes, 3 strength sessions, and 20 minutes a day on either the eliptical or the recumbent. Sometimes it just seems like there is not enough hours in the day to get in everything that I need to do. Oh, well, who needs sleep?
  11. Yep, I'm cold all the time too, and we are in the deep freeze right now in NY, I went and bought more sweatshirts, thermals and cuddle duds to wear under my clothes, no one will ever know how much weight I have lost as I am always layered up.

    January fitness challenge

Ok so I've been faithfully walking, going back to yoga class, got in a strength class, and started doing my eliptical. After 20 min on the eliptical, my thighs feel like jello, you would think that with the strength training my thighs wouldn't hurt, I do squats with weight, plies, lunges, what gives? anyway, MTD-23 miles, 2 yoga classes, 2 strength sessions and 2 days eliptical 20 min each day, am trying to work up to 30 min, but man, it hurts.

    Let's make mistakes in 2014

Fluff, my choir director still says something like that. I used to be kind of shy about singing out, but he said to belt it out and if it needs it we can tune it up, I won't know if I can't hear it. And Indigo, thanks for giving me permission to make many more glorious mistakes, when I tend to make them they are usually whoppers. Now I will feel better about them.

I've Turned My Back On Excercise

rmub, I think if we are all be honest that at first no one really wanted to exercise, but..... it really helps with losing the weight and toning up the flabby bits that you can get when you lose the weight fast in the beginning. I have a routine now that works for me and I feel weird when I don't get my exercise in Find something you like to do, do you like to dance? Start by just putting on some records that you like and dance around to them. Doesn't matter what you look like as long as you do it consistantly everyday even if it's only 10-15 minutes at first. Once you build up your time to say maybe 30 minutes you might want to look into a zumba class or cardio salsa class, they are lots of fun and it doesn't feel like exercising, though you will sweat. Once you build a routine for yourself you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Good Luck!
