Greens just PostOpp

I am a vegetarian 5 days post op. This first week has been very hard. There is no protein in vegetable broth, so I add a little none flavored protein to it before warming it up. But now I can't stand to even look at veggie broth. I'm not getting almost any calories right now. There has to be something I can eat while in the liquid stage. Once I am in the mushy stage, I will be doing a thousand times better. There is so much more I can eat in the mushy stage. Until then, it's horrible. I'm sorry. Research it better if you can. There has to be more that we can drink the first week.
2. I was put on Nexium a week before the surgery and I have had NO GERD symptoms since I started taking the pills. I am day five post-op and still have no problems.

4 days post-op

I woke up today, day five; feeling SO much better! The pain is much more manageable, the gas is only there when I sip liquids. And I am much more awake and can move around longer. Hope this helps.

Is this normal?

I'm day five, post op. It still haven't gotten it down. Every sip burns and brings more painful gas. I hate drinking anything at this point, though the warmer it is, the easier down it seems to go.

Incision Question

I was sleeved June 10th as well. My big incision is nasty looking and is very sore. Below it is sore as well. It's slowly getting better, and I am covering all my wounds with triple antibiotic ointment several times a day mostly to keep it from drying out. It hurts more when it's dry.
8. I'm still alive...

9. I sent this email to my nurse, but by the time I finished it, it was after hours. So since I probably won't get a reply until tomorrow; I thought I would post it here to get the opinions of people who have already been through this. Hi Nicole, I was sleeved June 10th, and wanted to know what a normal recovery should feel like at this point. I don't have a fever, my temp is running around 99.4F. But my upper chest and right shoulder burns with every breath. This is probably just gas, but walking isn't helping. Walking hurts, a lot. As does shifting, taking deep breaths and sitting up. But I was told to walk, so I am. liquids are another challenge. I haven't thrown up, but there have been some close calls. Every tiny sip of Water burns going down and then it feels like it just sits in my chest. Warm vegetable broth was the only thing that didn't burn going down, and didn't seem to sit as long. But now the simple smell of it makes me nauseous. I'm exhausted, though I don't feel like I'm doing much. Of course I just had major surgery and I'm having trouble getting liquids down. My lower stomach is making all kinds of noises and to top it all off, I seem to have started my period. Oh, and I might have a minor rash developing on the left side of my upper stomach. Please tell me this is all normal, I'm just being paranoid and will start to feel better in a few days. Thanks Lauren
10. I'm in more pain today then I have been this entire time with the exception of when I woke up in recovery. Every time I drink Water, no matter how small the sips; it just sits in my chest and burns. I've tried it cold, warm, hot, with and without crystal light. Vegetable broth seems to be the only thing I'm not having trouble with. My mom, who drove up here to take care of me, left because she has to go to work in the morning. So I'm alone and I keep randomly bursting into tears for no reason at all. I think theres a rash developing on the left side of my stomach. (If it does not go away by tomorrow, I'll call my doc.) Anyways, thanks for letting me vent. I know It will be better in a few days. I'm just in hell week, and I knew this week would be hell week from the beginning. But sometimes you just need to vent. Day three sucks.

Day Three Sucks

Don't be scared. Just know that the first week sucks, but it will get better! (Or at least that's what they keep telling me. Lol)

Low carb rash

I'm only three days post op and I have one on my stomach.
13. I'm about to take my first shower since the morning of surgery. Any recommendations on how to do this as pain free as possible?

Shower

Thank you for the ideas! I had to do it on my own, so I leaned against the shower wall and made sure the spray didn't hit my incisions. Good call on just letting the soap and water rinse my wounds. Cleaning my feet was an entirely different situation, though. Lol
15. I had my Sleeve done June 10th. I am a bit sore but that seems to be it! I don't seem to have a problem with warm and hot liquids going down. As a matter of fact the first bowl of vegetable broth the hospital gave me, I drank almost the entire thing with troubles. That scared me. Cold liquids on the other hand, likes to sit in my throat for awhile before going down. Then there is my meds. I have one that has to be taken every 8 hrs with nothing to eat for an hour before and two hours after. My pain med which has to be taken every four hours, but not within an hour of taking the first med. Then a pill, that can't be taken within an hour of the first two meds, but has to be taken before going to bed for the night. Let's just say that meds are a confusing mess.
16. That's exactly what I've been doing. Lol

wearing a bra after surgery?

I had my surgery yesterday, I won't even look at a bra for at least a week. When I do finally cautiously put one on, it will be my sports bra.
