When were you sleeved? This is a very normal side effect of rapid weight loss. I started losing around month 6 and it continued for about 3 months. It will grow back, have no fear.
Search the site for hair loss. It is a very popular topic.
Many will suggest shampoos or tell you to increase Protein. For me, I was meeting all my Protein numbers, taking Vitamins, exercising, taking Biotin ... doing everything suggested and I still lost hair. Some people don't lose, but I believe they are quite the minority and have the genetics most don't.
If it gets too bad, wigs are a great option! This too, shall pass.

Congratulations! You have done so well and are looking great. I also had my surgery on 5/21. I am soooo close to the 50 lb down milestone that I can almost taste it. I can't wait to kiss this first 50 goodbye and start working on the next.
You are inspirational, keep it up.

thebabycakes reacted to Fiddleman in Binge behavior
How many of you vets still encounter the old binge behavior of pre sleeve?
Here I am at 13 months post op and have been maintaining now for 6 months. Yet yesterday, the old binge behavior of eating senseless until discomfort hit me. I had gone on a hike yesterday and that may have triggered a need for carb inhalation combined with some stress from another part of life. And I did carb up before the hike with Protein infused steel cut oats and a couple energy squares. Hike was a joy. I was able to hike to the top without any fatigue. No soreness or out of breath. It felt like the end up a cross fit warm up.
I ate about 12 energy squares which would be about 720 calories around dinner time. Fortunately, an energy square is not really that bad for you because it is mostly good carb and good fat. Needless to say that became my dinner. scale did not move too much this morning, but I do feel a little more bloated then usual.
I am a little concerned about this behavior because I thought it had been checked at the door even 15 months ago when I started to prepare for surgery by changing my eating habits. My nutritional plan has been really a model of excellence over the last 6 months sticking to modified Paleo, focusing heavily on large amounts of lean Protein and veggies to fuel a high level of fitness. I eat healthy day in and day out without to much of a struggle. I like eating this way because of the energy it gives me to take on fitness and other activities in daily life.
Fortunately, my wife reminded me tomorrow is another day and I am human. It still depresses me a little that there is still a bridge that can be crossed to old undesirable eating behaviors. The bridge may be old, rickety and falling apart, but it can still be crossed.
That concerns me as a vet.

Okay, I'm your girl!! LOL. I did Exactly what you are doing right now! I did easily get to goal but didn't "hold" it long enough to get my body used to the new goal weight OR truly figure out what maintenance really means to a sleever!
Over the next 1 1/2 gradually picked up junk food, stopped exercising and added back 25 lbs!! FINALLY, came to my senses and got myself off the couch and depression. I had allowed myself to wallow in because I KNEW I was sabotaging myself!!!!
You CAN DO THIS! You made a monumental decision to take your health and LIFE on your hands when you had VSG. Now, turn that remembered feeling into self resolve.
First, quickly get rid of all the "triggers" you have allowed like junk food. ANYTHING. even if its too many Protein bars. Too much is too much.
Get back to your basics! Meals only. Small snack between. No drinking during or afterwards for 30 minutes. Get up Nd walk/exercise if you aren't doing that. Protein first. Veggies second and turn it around. YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN STOP THE GAIN! I had to finally understand that for me. I tried low car and didn't have much success with it. Might be right for you to quickly lose your 15 lbs of regain. But do it NOW. Don't let it get to 20!
A number of your fellow vets are having success with following Fastdiet better known as 5:2. You eat 500 cals 2 days a week and your "normal" calories (within reason like 1200-1500) the other five days. I lost all my regain and reached goal again TODAY! 150lbs. It took WORK WORK WORK! Logging EVERYTHING EVERY DAY! Clean clean clean eating. Exercise( lots of walking and Gazelle)
Girl, I have faith in you! Do it now!!!! Get energized and talk to yourself!!! You ate gorgeous. Take it back!!!!!! Good luck and keep us posted!!!!!

thebabycakes reacted to Oliver's Mom in Who is this person......?
So today I had a lot of errands & appointments scheduled. I knew I would be gone from the house for hours (including snack time & lunch time). Without a thought I packed a bag with low fat, high Protein, low carb food for both my lunch and a snack. I grabbed two 24oz bottles of Water (it's day three here of a heat wave) and headed off.
When I stopped for lunch, sitting on a park bench under a large shady tree and opened my bag it hit me........who is this person I've become? I like her! She no longer goes to a drive thru fast food restaurant, or stops at a convenience store for a lunch of soda, chips and a candy bar!
Packing the lunch and healthy Snacks was done without even thinking about it. This change all happened a step at a time over the last 11 months - almost 8 months post op and the 3 months of preparation for the surgery.

I am not finding it easy to eat socially. Today at lunch I wasn't paying attention, got too full, and had to leave the restaurant and ended up vomiting on the sidewalk. How embarrassing! I'm struggling with getting in enough Protein and calories. Tonight I'm going to give myself a break and have some ice cream. I have the calories and I'm really craving something that will go down easily nail so I am really craving a peaceful meal by myself with no socializing to distract me.
Tomorrow we are going rafting and doing other Water sports, then camping overnight. I'm looking forward to the activities but I hope the food is manageable. I made some requests so hopefully it will work out.
Other than the eating, I'm having a great time.
