I had something similar, except I had some drainage but no heat. Anyway I am a nursing student and have a nurse for a mother so I did a wait and watch approach for a couple days. I washed it a few times a day with Dial antibacterial soap and used triple antibiotic ointment on it and it was great in a couple days. I don't recommend not contacting your surgeons office, I knew mine was mild by the looks and drainage however it being the weekend I would call first thing Monday morning unless you start running a fever, than ER and keep it clean and dry and open to air.

Wow.... I mean WOW! Number 1.... a friend would never.... ever....ever.... say something so hurtful, I hope you deleted and blocked that person from your FB, lose her phone number and run if you ever see her in public. GOOD for you for calling her out, when I "came out" on Facebook about my surgery I stated "I don't want the negative talk, if you don't agree keep it to yourself, I am an adult and I made this decision after much soul searching" thankfully if someone doesn't agree with me.... They haven't shared. I am so incredibly sorry that you are going through this, it really is uncalled for, no one has a right to cause you pain. You have done this for you... and no one else, if there is jealousy, a difference of opinion, concern, or an outright personality disorder she didn't have the right to become that person. Chin up.... You got this!

I can tell with a few friends there is something going on because of my surgery. My sister in law doesn't like to talk about it, leading up to my surgery she would make comments like "you are doing this to yourself, don't think I am going to listen to you complain after" she did say last week that it has been hard on her because everyone around her is losing weight but she isn't and I know she gets the weight loss stuff from a cousin she is close too, so I am not sure if she gets overwhelmed, but I don't really say much to her anymore. I do tell her when I hit a significant goal, but I leave her out of the little things. My best friend admitted to me before surgery that she was jealous, mind you she is down around 70# since May through low carb dieting and exercise, she is doing amazing. We have a strange tension in our friendship. When it is just us we are "normal" its like the surgery and the diet don't matter. We go to the gym, we joke around we go to the store, but when others are around..... things are weird. Her voice changes, her actions change, I can't even explain it. I know my surgery motivates her to continue doing well, because it would kill her if I "beat" her at the weight loss (I am not competitive in any way shape or form, but oh my gosh she is) We have both admitted that our friendship is changing, we used to be so food motivated and now we aren't. We have a history of letting each other sabotage what we are doing and we can't do that anymore. Our friendship isn't going anywhere, but it is like we are creating a new friendship manual to understand each other. It is hard when a significant part of a relationship is taken away.

Yesterday one of my nursing instructors, who I haven't seen in a few weeks, walks in the classroom looks at me and says "oh my gosh you are just melting" it made me feel good because as far as numbers go it hasn't been a drastic loss since I saw her last, but I can tell my body is changing and it's nice others can too.

Obviously talk to my surgeon... But out of curiosity how soon after surgery were you able to take ibuprofen? I had some issues this week and attempted Tylenol and it didn't even touch it, it was horrid I actually took a half of my leftover pain pills it was so bad. I was going to bring it up at my next appt. there are some things that only ibuprofen or Aleve will take care of.

My dad lost a ton of weight a few years ago through Weight Watchers and bike riding, like serious hundred mile bikes rides, we followed him an RV when he did a 550 mile one through Colorado.... Anyway, he never got rid of the CPAP, still has it. I hope you beat it and get rid of the dreaded CPAP someday!

For forum and group purposes I do the whole breakdown.... High Weight, Pre Op Weight, Day of Surgery Weight.... For everyone else I just do a total. I hate feeling like it is necessary to break it down. A loss is a loss, why does it matter if it came from surgery or before surgery? Honestly my highest was around a week before I had my first bariatric appt. I have lost all of my weight from my highest since starting this journey, part of it was required (a 5lb loss before paperwork was submitted) but I was already down 7lbs from my heaviest when I met with the clinic. Granted what he doesn't know is that during my 6mo pre op diet I actually gained to my heaviest at one point.

I am 6 weeks out and consumed Protein Shakes pre op but I bet I could count on one hand the number of Protein shakes post op. I've been hitting my protein since 2 weeks post op and eat an average of 900 calories a day. I've never in my life had hair thinning issues, well that's not true, I have so much hair I have to get it thinned. I am not sure where I will be 2 weeks... 2 months... 6 months.... From now, but this is a good theory. I would like to think I will be one of the lucky ones but only time will tell. As of this point I have nothing unusual, in fact since starting Biotin a month pre op my hair and nails are the healthiest they've been in forever. I just had 6" cut off my hair and the girl must have told me 12 times how soft, shiny and healthy my hair is.

I am 6 weeks out this Tuesday. I have achieved 900 calories on average since 2 weeks out. I get 60-90g of Protein. I have never stalled, slowed yes, stalled no. I eat 5-6 times a day. I'm comfortable where I am. I know at 12 weeks I go to 1100 calories, per NUT instructions, and I don't anticipate it to be difficult and I don't fear gain by any means. I do use the ketostix and find myself in the moderate level.
Oh and I exercise 3-5 times a day. Burned 1100 yesterday, generally closer to 400-500.

I do a marinade for my fish tacos that I use on tilapia which is very easy. It is just lime juice, garlic, cumin and dill. I do it by sight but it is around 1/2C of lime juice, and 1-2 tsp of each of the seasonings. I marinate it for just a few minutes, the lime will start poaching it essentially, so I leave it 5 minutes max and it could be baked or cooked in a lightly greased pan. Good stuff.

Don't push the Protein right now. Focus on hydration. I fought the protein for a few days and realized I was fighting a losing battle and it was far more important for me, and you to focus on good hydration. When I added in protein around day 13 I had no issues hitting my levels and continue to maintain them 5.5 weeks out! Water Water Water.... Sip Sip Sip....

My wife and I both had a hankering for some fruit pie but of course avoided it because of the sugar content. To our delight our grocer had a beautiful sugar-free cherry pie which we promptly purchased.

At lunch we left room for sliver pieces of the succulence which we chewed slowly with rapturous expressions.

Later, at Home Depot, the rest of the story was heard. Both of us began to do a sonic imitation of a flock of geese. It was a looong migration.

It is difficult to do any careful shopping when "blow and go" is your method of avoiding embarrassment. The customers that remained that day were the ones who were truly serious about home improvement.
Sugar-free confections contain the stuff that dreams are made of...nightmares.

Macy6 got a reaction from SoHappy in 4 weeks out and only 16 lbs lost. Totally regretting this surgery.
I'm sorry you are frustrated but I find it ridiculous that they are assuming you have a slow metabolism and need to work out more. At 4 weeks I was around a 19# loss, and most of it came off in the first 6 days. I only lost 1.5-3# my 3rd and 4th week. Things slow down during this time. I'm now 5.5 weeks out and this past 7-10 days I'm down like 5#. How much Protein are you getting? I take in 900-1000 calories a day 70+ grams of protein (no Protein Shakes at all) I'm getting some sort of exercise burning 250+ calories 5x a week (started at week 4) I'm not perfect by any means. I don't think you need to go to the gym 3 hours a day, you just need consistency and time. Stay off the scale (I weigh every Monday) start with Proteins to to veggies if needed, avoid sliders and drink lots of fluids. Get activity, but don't go crazy and overboard. Do measurements, embrace your losses, no matter how tiny. Your body will catch up. A week or two ago I was sure I was the slowest loser ever, but it's moving again and more importantly... I feel better than I have in years!

I only sipped for around 5 days. Than I was up to 8oz an hour and I can easily take 16oz an hour if I want to now. Everyone is different but I truly believe persistence pays off. I was bound and determined I was not getting dehydrated and I had to be released back to school by day 10 so I worked my butt off to get there. I carried my hospital cup at all times and a back up if necessary. I would say by 9am I will drink 4 oz and by 11 I will be here etc...

Does your gym have a women's only section? Or a cardio cinema or something? When I first start back (every few months for the last 6 years) I always frequent one of those areas first. Another one is a swim fitness class, you tend to be with a little bit of an older population and heavier population. I always feel welcome there. Eventually you will be walking in with your head held high ready to make that gym your b**** it doesn't take long!
