  1. I haven't stalled, but I slowed tremendously and although I have had a 5# loss in one week my average is quite a bit closer to 2.5#. My lowest loss was around 1.5#. I agree though, follow the rules and you will be fine, stall or not.

18yo boy getting my sleeve in Nov

Welcome! I applaud you for taking charge of your health at such a young age. I think that your age will be a good thing and bad thing. I think that being younger you have the opportunity to take charge and better yourself before a lot of damage is done. On the other hand being younger you will definitely deal with more peer pressure and difficult situations, such as drinking, that can in turn be detrimental. If you haven't already, create a list of the reasons why you are doing this, and those days when it feels too hard and you feel like giving up.... pull that sheet up and remind yourself, than march right back on here for help! I can't wait to follow your story!

    Work out advice appreciated

What about a rowing machine? I do 20 on that and 30 on the elliptical. I really enjoy them both, my first experience on an elliptical was very brief and I was quite convinced I was going to die. It is definitely finding your rhythm and changing the intensity to suit ur needs.

    Personal trainer?

I started back with mine today. I made the mistake of telling her how much I love step (true story) and that I hope to teach a class someday. She was like OK! Let's do it. Oh what did I just do?
  6. It was on my OK list from 2 weeks on, as long as I let it sit and soak and get soft.

    Adventures in shapers

My friend is down just over 70#. We both have the Ardyss Body Magic shapers, which sound similar to yours, open boob area.... Anyway hers is long, below knee length, mine is shorts, hers has a moveable crotch area, mine has 27,000 eyelets..... Because yes when I am dying and my bladder is going to explode after 2oz of water and my suit is squeezing my bladder the last thing I want to do is fight eyelets. Stupid. Anyway hers was getting quite loose so she bought a size down. It is hilarious. I had to help her button up, friends.... I don't know that I signed up for that. No matter the squeezing, pushing and smoothing it shoves her belly fat up and creates a spare tire, 3rd boob shelf bigger than her boobs. It is ridiculous. She has this tiny, smooth waist and 2 sets of boobs. Why do we torture ourselves?
  8. Yes, I don't utilize protein shakes at all. I tried them twice post op and it didn't work out for me. I also avoid protein bars, because they are sliders for me. I eat chicken, pork, fish, beef, cheese, cottage cheese, eggs etc...
  9. I am like you and the others. No issues with fluids and I am thankful. I don't drink the shakes, so I can't say for sure there but water etc... Goes right down.
  10. I bounce. I have since surgery. Lose 2, gain .5, lose 4, gain 2. It is one of the reasons I now only weigh once a week. I have never weighed a Monday to Monday and gained. It could be you need to have a bowel movement, you could be retaining some water.... Don't worry, No devastation.... It will all even out

    Roller Skating

Went roller skating last night, first time in a year and a half. I used to be on a local roller derby team, but with school and life found myself overwhelmed so I took a break. Anyway I can most definitely feel it today! According to calculators I would burn approximately 870 calories and hour doing that and boy is it fun!
  12. I do my pictures/measurements from the first day of my pre op diet. So I started my pre op diet 8/17, I have lost overall 48.8# from my heaviest and 37 of that from the start of my pre op diet and 27 since my surgery 8/27 and lost over 30". Definitely progressing at my own pace, I am content with my loss, I have not stalled really at all, some weeks are lower than others. I lost a bulk of the weight in the first week post op and have averaged around 2-2.5# since. I eat around 900 calories a day and rarely don't hit my protein (70+) I go to the gym and 50+ min of cardio is really nothing now. I am down from a 26 to a loose 22 in pants and feel the best I have in years.
  13. Me too. I tried a Quest bar around 4 weeks post op. Ate half, like I have read many people do, I was never satisfied and really hungry within 30 minutes. The next time I tried a whole one and experienced the same thing. They are an emergency back up, no other option and rarely rarely happen.
  14. I'm a student, but have clinicals. I was released at 4 weeks and been great.

    DRINK DRINK DRINK

Yeah, I really focused on water the first couple weeks. It came before anything else. At one point (day 5 thru day 13) I went straight water. I was struggling with anything protein related I was going crazy. I felt much better being well hydrated and once I was cleared to soft foods I was great.
  16. My wake up was so easy. I remember going under, telling the anesthetist that I could feel what he had put In my IV. Next thing I know I am awake, like wide awake, no pain, no nausea, no nothing and I'm looking at the clock and it was an hour earlier than I anticipated and I was convinced for a few minutes no surgery had been done. That he got in and my giant oversized liver oooozed from my incisions and he just closed me up. I was wrong, but it was an eerie feeling.

    Driving?

Mine was around 9 days. I had the 24 hrs off pain med rule. I honestly had no interest going anywhere.
  18. I do believe you should follow up with your surgeon. It could be you can't handle the consistency or the item yet, maybe you aren't chewing well or eating too much but that is what they are there for. I have only vomited once, because I took my vitamin on an empty stomach and I tried like crazy to prevent it, but it was too late.

    Biggest loser

It is crazy! Well OK I technically dropped 24 pounds in the first 6 days post op BUT I had gained 12 lbs in water so technically.... I lost 12lbs in one week and I was proud of myself!
  20. Tilapia and Green Beans. I wanted it for a good week before I could have it!

    hospital stay

I was 2 nights, just under 48 hours. I was grateful to have that long, by the last morning I was feeling pretty good and ready to hit the road, but I was grateful for the staff and medication and fluids they provided me. It was also nice to have daily visits from my surgeon, PA and on my last day the director of my bariatric clinic, my patient coordinator and my NUT came to see me. I felt super special and popular he he. When I left I was like "YEAH, I am ready to hit the road" I even considered going to an afternoon class I was missing, but by the time I made the 20 minute trip home I was like "Where is my Zofran, Percocet, and Pillow"
  22. I am human.... I know crazy. I am also am emotionally fueled female who wants things NOW! and I don't want to wait. When I started pursuing this journey I read and reread this forum, and others, I attended, and continue to attend support groups and I have read many books. I knew coming into this that I would be an individual, that I would go at my own pace, my own personal path and that I shouldn't ever compare myself to others. It is so easy to say "If I just knew my future, and where this journey leads me than maybe I could relax and enjoy the ride" except I can't! I am not moving at the pace I thought, or hoped I would when I started. I have no regrets, I love my sleeve, I love that I can go out to lunch with my family and be satisfied eating 1/3 of my meal, that a mear 3oz of Protein can sustain me for hours. I love that I don't struggle with Water, because I love my water.... However it is difficult to lose 1.8# in a week, when I know that I should embrace the loss and be happy that up until this point (7 weeks) I have not plateaued, stalled, or gained in any given week. Last night my best friend sent me this..... Dear Patient Girl, You knew when you started on this path towards your goals and your dreams, staying on the pathway that's meant just for you, that sometimes the road was going to get rough, that things would not always be fun or easy, and that you were willing to sacrifice whatever it took to get there. So why is it, gorgeous friend, that when things do get tough or boring, or when sacrifice is required, that we somehow forget and think that things must not be going exactly how they are supposed to be going, when we knew when we started that there would surely be days like this? Don't let the tough times get you down. They are part of the journey, and they are temporary. Learn what you can while you are in those times. But most of all, be patient, and let yourself remember that you knew this would happen, and you knew that you could and would make it. And you will. And you ARE. It will be worth it. You are so loved. ( ) Total Loss: (Since 5/13) 47.8# Since Pre Op Diet: (8/17/13) 35.8# Since Day of Surgery: (8/27/13) 25.8# NSV: Gone from a size 26 to a loose 20, run up stairs without getting short of breath, do an hour of cardio like it is nothing, finding bones I didn't know existed! Last night.... I was laying in my bed and I scratched my side and felt a lump... I was like OH MY GOSH so I felt again and it was my rib!!! MY RIB!!!

    Clear liquid diet

It's going to feel long and torturous but every time you "cheat" you are extending the time to get to the easier part. It will get easier just hang in there. Keep water with lemon or other infused fruits readily available, keep Popsicles and juices on hand. Good Luck
  24. I am curious how long after surgery your big incision hurt? I have 5 incisions, 4 are tiny (1/4") 1 is larger (started around 1.5") obviously I know the larger one was a little more traumatized from stomach removal etc... But two of my tiny incisions were healed in days, the other 2 maybe 1-2 weeks and the big one is slowly healing and about half its size, it is not infected and looks like a normal healing incision. Anyway immediately post op the whole area was numb, after a couple weeks the feeling started coming back and at times that incision would be painful (if bumped or twisting etc...) I am now 4 weeks 5 days and it is still tender at times (not always) this seem like the norm? I figured I could call Monday and just let them know but I am curious how others have done.
  25. Do you feel like you need to go and can't? I was around 5 days post op before I did. We were told to keep miralax on hand. Less in less out but the anesthesia and narcotics don't help with the process. I had a bad reaction to my protein shake on day 5 so I was essentially cleaned out because of that (you are welcome for that) however I did take miralax half doses a couple times in the first few weeks, once I was moved to soft foods at week 2 I've been good to go since.
