Jacqueline Marie got a reaction from jenngottaloseit in Question For Ladies With Pcos Who Got Pregnant After Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Since most of the post are from 2011, I will tell my story. I had PCOS since I was 13 years old. I would get a period every few months, sometimes a few months in a row, and then sometimes I would bleed for a whole month (the dr would put me on a pill to stop the bleeding). When I turned 19, somehow I got pregnant. I had a very complicated pregnancy, high risk, antiM in my blood, low amniotic fluids around my daughter, and was induced early. A few years later I tried to have another child, and was unable to. My periods were the same, once every 4 -5 months, then bleeding for a whole month. The gyn told me I wouldn't be able to have any children anymore because my PCOS and thyroid was extremely bad. BROKE MY HEART! I thought about all the way I could try and have another child regardless of what the gyn said... finally I figured surgery may help, not only help me health wise, but help me have a child as well. I had my surgery (sleeve) on August 15, 2013 HW: 272 SW: 255, right after my surgery LITERALLY that weekend, my period started. And the became on point every month and 2 days following. Cramps were back! Bleeding normally was back! This past Feb, my fiance and I (now 27) found out that I was pregnant! My GYN/OBGYN said that since surgery my PCOS is gone, and I was ovulating normally. Currently today, I will be 16 weeks pregnant in 2 days, and I am 9 months post op tomorrow. My CW is 180, and I am still losing weight, I have yet to gain a lb... which is not what I am going for, but for some reason my belly is growing and everything else is shrinking! I am high risk again. They put me on high risk because of surgery, I still have this stupid antiM in my blood, and just incase of low fluids around the baby, although everything seems to be going great. Also, this pregnancy has been completely different than my first. I don't know if it is because I have a smaller stomach, I eat differently, gender difference who knows. This pregnancy has been extremely easy. Hardly any morning sickness, just very sleepy and I have to eat more often. But hope this helps you ladies. I know prior to surgery I was looking for answers as well.

Here is my story: I met my fiance a month and half before my surgery. My surgery was private other than my father/ mother/ and sister in law knowing. At first I didn't know if the relationship was going to be serious or not, but we went out on dates... dinner being one of them.. they see how you eat. THAT is going to change, HE will have questions.. I didn't tell him at first because I didn't want him to judge me at all, and didn't want him telling anyone. Then we started having sex. HE sees my body, he sees every mark, and then I think WTF is going to happen if this gets even more serious... It starts to eat at you!! I saw it this way, do I see a future with this man? Do I see this being something that lasts? YES... so after one of my dr appointments he asked why I was going to the dr so much and I told him. HE smiled and said he supported every choice that I made, and it wasn't his secret to tell. And it has been that way since. You really need to think about where your relationship with the guy is going to go... if you see it going further and serious... be honest. He is going to have to help you with your adjustments as well, and can be more understanding of your changes.

Jacqueline Marie got a reaction from lialove in Getting depressed because of my slow loss!
Get rid of the scale! When I had surgery I was on the scale 24/7. I stopped going on the scale because it was making me depressed and I only started going on the scale once a week and after the first 3 months I would only go on once a month! You are losing, that is something to be proud of and happy about. Before surgery we weren't able to lose... we would gain. As long as you are losing ... slow or fast... YOU ARE LOSING! Your body also needs to adjust to this big mix up. It is used to food all the time. It will catch up to you... stay positive!

I am glad that I am not the only one!! I have about 100lbs to lose I am 25. The loose skin kinda scares me, and to be honest I don't want to have extra surgeries!! If anyone has any tips or secrets please let us know. I thought about doing the body wraps after surgery as well.

Jacqueline Marie reacted to CrazyCatLady in Another pregnant sleever
It's been a few months since I posted; however, I remember reading the pregnancy threads with interest as a pre-op. Prior to my surgery, I had been infertile due to PCOS for many years, to the point of having less than 5 horrible, irregular periods each year.
I had my sleeve done April 16, 2012, my weight on surgery day was 296 (down from 312 before preop dieting). By March 1St of this year, I had been holding steady at 180lbs since Christmas, with not much luck in losing more. I am 5`8 for reference. Around 220lbs, without medication, my periods returned with clocklike regularity - to the point of starting during the same two hour timeframe in the morning. Wow!
In late March, I started losing weight without any other changes....and then found out I was pregnant. I knew within about a week of conception due to the onset of gutwrenching morning (read: all day) sickness, followed by crushing fatigue. This has been a total change from previous pregnancies at higher weights, which were much less symptomatic.
As I had a major, life-threatening portal vein thrombosis after my sleeve surgery last year, requiring hospitalization on a Heparin drip, I called my hematologist with confirmation of pregnancy at 4 weeks. He placed me on Lovenox injections to be continued through my entire pregnancy and for a handful of months post delivery.
Finding a OB who would take me on as a post Bariatric patient was a challenge. My normal OB chastised me, staying bariatric patients are incapable of carrying healthy pregnancies (which is patently false, by the way), and refused to care for me. After many interviews, including one with a midwife who told me I was fat and shouldn't gain more than 10lbs through my pregnancy, I found an intelligent OB who is attentive and knowledgeable regarding the unique needs of expecting post bariatric moms.
I am currently 11 weeks, and pregnancy has not been kind to me. I have been on prescription antiemetics in order to stop vomiting, now IV Iron infusions due to anemia. I've lost a few lbs, now holding at 174. My injections had to be doubled due to already forming a clot in my leg.
However, that being said....I yearly believe my sleeve gave me a chance for one last pregnancy. A chance I wouldn't have had otherwise.

And I thought I was going to faint. When I looked up at the screen and saw what I thought were two sacs.... Doc got excited and asked his nurse if she saw what he saw and it was!! They saw two sacs and confirmed one heart beat. Doc said it might be because baby A is still too small or that it just will go away and only one grow. But the nurse said she saw something and in two weeks they will for sure be able to see my peanut/peanuts!!! Whatever the outcome is I just hope and pray we all have a healthy pregnancy and I can give these babies all the nutrients they need to grow and be healthy what a day

Just home from shopping trip for sandals. Walked into shop, picked a style, tried the left foot on and was very happy with the look. Asked the assistant if I could try on a pair... She went off to get the other shoe and came back very apologetically saying "we only have wide fitting left, sorry, but I can order you a regular fit" .....
She has no idea why I left smiling despite not getting my shoes. Having had "wide" feet for 30 years, this is the first time anyone has looked at me and judged that I must have "normal" feet... Whoo hoo!!!!!!
