DonRodolfo got a reaction from ready2inspire in I messed up! Help :-(
Stop beating yourself up over this - it's not failure when you fall down, it's failure when you don't get back up after falling. I'm willing to bet every person on this board has had their moments, I sure have.
Get yourself on MFP, get an accountability partner, and get back on track!

DonRodolfo got a reaction from MJuicy827 in Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
i'm 50. i've only been sleeved for a little over 4 weeks. I've had to make changes in my life and i will never eat the same again. Would i have the surgery again with what I know now? I'd have it without question.
I've proven in the past that I can take off 50 pounds with just a bit of effort. Problem is, it always comes back. The sleeve gives me a fighting chance this time.

DonRodolfo got a reaction from TXJess in Getting nervous due to all the comments I am hearing
Perfectly normal to hear all those things and feel what you're feeling.
"...dont do that your not that fat"
What does the guy staring back at you in the mirror say? He's the one you have to make happy and answer to each morning.
    "...your not gonna qualify"
The person that said this knows this how?
"...just put some time in at the gym"
If it were that simple doctors wouldn't be doing this surgery. One of the first questions I was asked by my surgeon was if I had tried to lose weight before and how did I go about it. Going to the gym was one of my answers, and I did lose weight, only to put it all back on and more.
    "people die from this surgery"
Unfortunately, this is truth. There are stories of this on Bariatric Pal. i was aware that people died from the surgery when i went on the table. It was worth it for me.
"but I have other medical issued ( high b/p., back issues) that made me make this descion."
Me too. High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, couldn't sleep flat on a bed for > 10 years. I can go on.
"I am also starting to get nervous due to being put to sleep. "
Have you never been put under before?
All worrying does is waste your time and energy. Most people have have had this surgery. It hasn't been easy for all of them but I'm sure most would agree it was worth it.

I started at 416, and there are folks here that started higher than me. You are definitely not alone!
My surgeon suggested bypass to me as well but I insisted on having the sleeve.

DonRodolfo got a reaction from Sleeve Inspired in I call "drinking 64 oz water" BS
WLS is probably not a good thing to have if a person doesn't like rules. Most of us were given rules of some sort - as doctors vary many of us differ in what we're expected to do. If you don't want to drink the water/fluids you were told to, that's your business. What concerns me is a noob reading what you've said and thinking "if she can disregard the rules, so can I". THAT bothers me.

If you're doing what your surgeon tells you, you should lose weight but not strength.

DonRodolfo got a reaction from Positivelife in Dr Manuel Castro
Hi there. Dr. Castro is my surgeon. I first contacted his office in January and am scheduled for surgery on 5/28. The office staff are friendly, Dr. Castro is kinda quiet and reserved but friendly as well. Someone here at work (and his wife) used and recommended him so that's why I chose him.
Was there something in particular your friend wanted to know?

I think I was just a month out before having sashimi. I tolerated it very well. Note that I didn't have any rice. I was even okay with the soy sauce and wasabi.
You'll want to ask your surgeon, however, when you can.

DonRodolfo got a reaction from Buttercupbrown in So far, not loving my sleeve
Listen, there are enough of us in the dysfunctional weigh yourself everyday club, we are not looking for new members. You are torturing yourself needlessly by doing that. Commit to weighing once a week AND NO MORE!
You're a week and a half out and wondering why you're still on full liquids? I was on full liquids for two weeks and lots of people around here don't get to full liquids until they've done 2 weeks of Clear Liquids after surgery! Slow down please, there's no fire.
Fantastic job on the Protein, the fluids, and especially the walking. Keep up the good work!
It's gonna be okay, hang in there!
