I'm 5'10. My highest weight last Jan was 298. My day of surgery weight was 270. I currently weigh 215 and am 6 months out. My personal goal is 190 and the only reason I picked that goal is that is what I weighed when I wore a 12-14. But who knows! I am losing about 2 pounds per week the closer I get to goal.

Healthier2day1227 got a reaction from altteach in Name some of the most difficult things you experienced after vsg surgery
    Some challenges for me are:
    1. Slowing down. Maybe it would help if I wasn't that hungry when I finally settle down to eat.
    2. Taking my Vitamins.< /p>
    3. When people ask me if I had surgery or if I did it on my own. One girl asked me three times at a party because I wouldn't answer directly.
4.trying to rush the process. I'm 27 pounds from my physicians goal and I want it to happen now but the closer I get to goal the slower it moves and the harder I have to work.
    5. Having a delicious meal and really wishing i could have more. I just remind myself I do get more. Tomorrow. Leftovers.
All in all these challenges don't begin to outweigh the good. I was sleeved 7 months ago and love my healthier life. I love saying no thanks to unhealthy goodies that are offered to me because that was never me in the past. I love being out of pain and feeling so much better.

Thank you both for your input. I do think it's true that it is an adjustment for everyone in our lives, and honestly I would probably feel a little jealous too if I were in her shoes. I'm just not going to talk about those things with her, I'll stick to telling my boyfriend or Mom.

I think we are supposed to follow high Protein and protein first for life. I know I have been letting carbs creep in and that is the culprit.

Thank you! I think the accountability of the weigh ins might be useful.

I know an RNY'er who has done WW for years. I know she doesn't do carbs and is in the size 6 range. She follows the diet but it is very much modified to lean protein/fresh fruit & veggies.

Healthier2day1227 got a reaction from kcleveland in Hungry post op?
I will be honest I am hungry all the time but I try not to let that deter me. I snack a lot on fruits and vegetables. Strawberries and grapes fill me up. Sadly this surgery didn't rid me of hunger I hate to say it but I think it's actually stronger. Sad but true. But I have just learned to live with it because I refuse to gain. Hunger might be slightly uncomfortable but it's not going to kill me.

I reached my goal 165 and size 8. I'm also 5'9. I got as low as 158 after gallbladder surgery but I looked too thin. And when my appetite returned I was able to return to my goal of 165.

Lets all share our best and worst well meaning compliments about our weight loss.
My best was after returning to work after summer break: where'd you go this summer?! I mean where'd you go? Half of you is gone!
Oddest (considering it came from my mother in law): look at you! You're nothing but boobs!
Rudest: wow you lost all that weight and it found me. (Yes I am now responsible for others weight gain)
But the nicest compliments are the simple, you look great! I know they mean my weight loss and I appreciate the subtlety.
    What are yours?

I also saw a new doctor at about 10 months out. She looked at my chart and said well it says here you are obese but your BMI is 24! I explained to her about my surgery and congratulated me and clicked obesity off the list of health concerns on my chart. It felt great!

I have two boys and I ate two pieces of their candy and logged it in. Then I told them to hide their candy so I wouldn't steal any more. I don't trust myself! I am done with it. The two pieces were only because it was Halloween but no more!

Healthier2day1227 reacted to scootergirl in Sleeve restriction
I find my restriction (amount eaten until feeling a sense of fullness) is variable. I wish I could say it was related to my good food choices. It seems more variable than that. I have days where even a few bits fills me to the brim (can't eat even a half of a sandwich). Other days I feel like I never had my surgery (can eat the entire sandwich and wish I had more). It is not just food choice related; there is something else involved that I can't put my finger on. I have, though, found that my feeling of fullness is faster to pass that it was closer to my surgery. If I am not careful I could eat 6-10 small meals a day.

Try veggies with hummus it has some Protein. I know some folks may say no to this one but I have Peanut Butter in the night if I wake up. It seems to help me a lot.
