  2. I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. This past January I faced the possibility of what you are going through right now. My situation turned out okay. You are facing some very difficult decisions. I'm almost in tears with you! Let us know how it turns out. You do have options. Ask your doctor about an unfill & going on liquids for a couple of weeks & then reassessing the situation. I think some people here have had success with this.

  3. Thanks guys! I was thinking the same thing ya'll were - pictures everywhere! I try not to buy bad foods - I don't buy bad foods. But it seems like I can make bad foods out of anything. I was always a closet binge eater & now that I have no restriction I find myself deviating back to old habits. & yes, I know how to eat around my band. It's very frustrating. It's all a mind game. I'm gonna win this time though.

  4. I have been going through this with my step-sister, step-mother & a couple of my Aunts. It's sad. They are really missing out. When I recently went through my band trouble & subsequent weight gain, they all seemed to really "be concerned". Whatever!!!! Thank goodness I can see through it. I have learned to distance myself from those who are negative. Thay just drag me down & I have been down long enough!!

  5. Hey everybody! My name is Jess aka - jessiebear. I haven't been here in a while. I'm in need of support again. It is really hard to live with the band & not have anyone to support you that knows first hand what you are going through. I tried. It hasn't worked. I missed ya'll!!!

I was banded 1-26-2005. I had lost 90lbs before I had a problem with my band (1-2008) & had to have all of my fill taken out. I have had one fill since then (2-2008) & I am currently up to 2.0cc in a 4cc band. I still do not have restriction & I am eating everything that I can get my hands on!! I have gained 39lbs since January. EEEEEK!! I am going to schedule another fill just as soon as I can. Until then, I will be here! Hopefully I can use everyone's success stories to encourage me until then.

  6. Hey Rose!! I'm thrilled for you!! I can't wait to get some fill back. I didn't realize exactly how tight my band was. It's really weird being able to eat. As soon as they took the fill out of my band my stomach growled & it has been growling ever since. 5 minutes after I eat it starts growling again. I don't think I have truely been full yet. So far I have been doing really well. I'm not gaining - just maintaining. I'm eating lots of Lean Cuisines! I get some fill put back on January 30th. I will not get it filled back as tight as it was. I know now that it was too tight. They gave me a little card showing too little - perfect - & too tight. I had all of the symptoms of being too tight. Thank God it didn't slip!!!!! I have recommited to my band, now I have to recommit to exercising!! My hat goes off to you in that area!!! The first night & the day after they took my fill out I had terrible pain & what amounted to esophageal spasms & being really irritated. I was put on carafate 4 times a day & prevacid twice a day. I am back to normal now. I feel great!!! I'm really happy for you!! Keep up the great work! & keep me informed! TTYL!! ---Jess

  7. I lost the first 50 in the first 5-6 months. The rest was a steady loss up until the last 6 months. The last 6 months I have been maintaining. The last 6 months have totally been my fault. I have a new job & we get catered lunches everyday. When I went in for my unfill, the nurse gave me a card that shows not enough fill, optimal fill & too tight, with the accompanying "symptoms?" listed under each one. According to the card, I have been too tight since my last fill.

  8. I've had my band for 3 years. I have lost 90lbs. While this is great, I could have done a lot better. I have not been a model bandster for the last year. I recently thought my band had slipped & went through Hades for a month with reflux/aspiration nightly. It wasn't slipped. My stoma was so irritated that it was almost swollen shut. Now I am completely unfilled & will be starting over with the fills in 3 weeks. I get another chance! I know there are people out there who would love to have a band & for various reasons can't get one. I'm not throwing this away again! I am recommiting right now!!!!!!!

  9. Thank you!! I had some pain initially. Doc put me on some carafate four times a day. I am back to normal again. I went for almost a month with periods of being unable to eat or drink & aspirating many times through the night. My stoma was extremely irritated. He wants me to start over in 3 weeks with the fills. It feels weird not having any fill after being filled so tight for so long. I had the same fill for 2 years.

  10. It maybe yeast. Befor eI lost the weight I would yeast under my belly. I found a cream made by Burt's Bees (Burt's Bees Baby Bees Skin Cream - it's kinda hard to find) that would soothe it & get rid of it. if you use it every day it will keep it from coming back. It may not be yeast, but that's kinda what it sounds like. hope it gets better.

  11. Thanks for the input everyone. I wondered about the complete unfill myself. I'm going to wait & see what the barium swallow shows before I ask about it. My doc told me that the band I have, which is the "older model" as he put it, has a higher incidence of slippage than the newer model being used now. Anyone else heard this? He said it is possible that all that will need to be done is to tack it back up with a couple of sutures. He did this same thing to another woman a couple of weeks ago with success. My thinking is, If I have to have surgery to repair a older model band that has a higher incidence of slippage, why not just have it replaced with the newer model? I guess it depends a lot on the cost. I have a lot to think about! Once again, thanks for all the input. It helps to have other people who have been in the shoes I'm in now. For those of you that have slipped, what symptoms did you have?

  12. I haven't been on here in a while. My life got busy after the weight loss. Now I'm having problems & I find myself back here. I have lost 90lbs. January 26, 2008 will be my 3 year bandiversary. I have been aspirating at night & when I went to the doc he said it sounds like I have a slip. I go in for a barium swallow Wednesday. He says my band will have to be replaced. I just had to get this off my chest.

  13. I originally came to this forum for support. Over time I made some friends. That was a plus. I also hope that I offered good support & advice. I have been absent for a long time, only occasionally lurking, because of the negative tone this board has taken. I haven't followed everything that has gone on here, but I know that some of my friends have been hurt. I have had enough negativity in my life. You people need to grow up & get a life (I don't know who you are, but YOU do know who you are). I find it sad that a handful of people had to turn a place of total support & positive energy into nothing but a nasty popularity contest. So, I say farewell.
