Newme48 got a reaction from jovi2673 in Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
Absolutely YES! It has been the best decision I have ever made!! It took me 30 years to put this weight on. After many diets and brief successes that turned to failures I now have the proper "tool" to help me and I am very grateful. It is helping me to become the healthy person I want to be!

Would like to propose a moment of silence in remembrance of an old friend.

Our long meandering threads seem to have turned into a dimly lit road to nowhere...
Our ability to easily help each other navigate our unique waters have been washed away with a tsunami of confusion. I will light a candle in hopes of your return my friend.
    In other words?
    Bring back our flipping VST!!!

My highest weight was 290 -something. Surgery weight was 268 on feb 5th. 7 months and 13 days later I am at 184. I can wear a size 14 slim jean! I rely on spanx!! These are the best invention ever! Ha ha! Taking it day by day and never taking my eyes off my goals! This is by far the best thing I have ever done for my health! Congrats to every one here and thank you also for your continued support! Recently I had to have my gallbladder removed. Any advice appreciated with that experience!

I am not sure what your doctor has for your dietary schedule but if you are allowed poached eggs then is it possible for you to enjoy the Proteins like tandoori chicken although in smaller bites/servings. Possibly shred it with some liquid to make more acceptable or digestable. Soups where my favorite post op. Good luck to you!

I believe with ANY WLS you can learn ways around them. The only sure fired success you will find is if you change yourself, your head, first. If you seriously want to take that weight back off and keep it off forever, then please get whatever you need to be ready emotionally and mentally. After that take another look at the sleeve. If medically you would have a healthier life with the sleeve, I see no reason to not go for it. The bypass does have slightly greater numbers when you break it down into percentages. But are you a percentage? No. You are you. You will be just as successful with a sleeve if you set your mind to it. I have been on this site since July and I have seen all kinds of stories and successes. Bottom line seems to be you get out what you put in! I have every intention in the world of losing all my excess weight once I am sleeved on 10/21, without the issues associated with Roux-n-Y. Please, do your research. Weigh the pros and cons. Decide what you can live with and then go from there. I am excited as all get out to have this opportunity and only wish I had done it years ago!!! Good luck to you in your journey..

I've lost 168 lbs in a year with my sleeve. I also know 3 people who had bypass surgery and they have all gained weight back. So the bypass is in no way a guarantee that you will lose it and keep it off. It's a tool just like the band or the sleeve. Good luck!

Hey everyone! Great job on your totals for September and a huge thank you to Butterthebean for starting that post and challenging us all to challenge ourselves. We all wish BTB great success and a speedy recovery from his surgery. We know you will be watching and cheering us on. October is among us and with that comes a new challenge. 100 miles in 31 days! Walk, run, bike, whatever you do, log those miles and drink that water! Anyone who has been lurking in the shadows and watching last months challenge, now is your time to join us! It doesn't matter if you do 1 mile a day or 20, just go at your pace and have fun! For those of us who participated in last months challenge, I want to issue a personal challenge to add another 15 miles to what you did last month. After all, there is 1 more day in this month.
On a side note, this group has become very motivational for me as well as others. If you don't mind, let's let everyone know your real first name. If you would rather not and just want to go with your username that is perfectly fine. I will kick it off...my name is Ted. Good luck everyone and log those miles!!

Don't need them! The hospital should have everything you need. I was on Clear Liquids for a week and a half. Remember to take it slow and drink small quantities like 15-20 ml every 15 minutes. It all adds up and will help keep you hydrated. Ask for liquid pain med like Roxicet for any post op pain at home. It helped me! Good luck to you!
