    January 2013 Sleevers?

Ive not told any one at work but did start telling them I was dieting before I went for surgery, when I was on the pre op diet I told them I was eating healthy and hopefully lose some weight. I was forced by my boss post op to tell her what I had done but made sure she understood this was said in confidence and I will make a grievance if the other members of staff find out. I feel that I want my privacy and don't want to be the topic on everyones lips. Human nature is to judge and then give opinions, well they are not going to be doing it about me. I'm keeping this to myself, only a chosen few know and that's how I will keep it. :-)

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I'm just freezing cold in general especially my feet, at night it takes me ages to get warm to be able to sleep.

    new to this

I'm new too, only two and a half weeks in and upto yet I find sticking to the liquid diet while other eat tasty food. My surgeon has put me on liquid for four weeks, then soft for four weeks, slowly moving on to normal food. The liquid diet gets boring and repetitive, it's difficult when your meant to go out for a meal but only get a soup option. Other than that the diet is okay, and it makes it easier once you stand on the scales and see a weight loss :-D x

    Are you serious?

A lot of the people on biggest loser re gain the weight afterwards, they can't maintain daily exercise to the extent that they were doing in in the biggest loser house/mansion. We will get our weight off but keep them off as we are cutting down our portions, thinking about what we eat and doing maintainable exercise. All while keeping hydrated and having a relatively normal life. :-)

    Are you serious?

If you've made they choice to help others then the amount of people you help and save out weighs the few who will judge. You should be thanked for being a inspiration not judged. The person who said is either overweight and jealous or thin and doesn't understand the struggle involved to lose weight. Keep your head high, feel proud of your achievements and ignore the sad few who feel the need to be negative. We all think your doing fantastic and I hope by the time I'm at your stage I've lost 65 pounds :-) well done you x

    Are you serious?

I've not told many people, I decided I didn't want the stigma. I just want to get on with my weight loss without judgement. The few people that know are quite supportive which is lucky for me. :-) I do love this forum as it helps relieve stress and help squish fears. Its very supportive and informative :-) x

    Are you serious?

Better to laugh it off, she was just being rude and doesn't deserve a second more of your time. Enjoy your journey, and be proud of all your achieving :-) x

People are never happy, ignore the negative and enjoy the positives. You've lost loads of weight and are doing a fantasic job.x
  12. That's the same as me, I was sleeved on 23/1/13. I think the pain is the muscles like I was told before. I do agree that if in doubt ring or go on for advice. I have found that this forum helps me as if anyone's had the same problems they are happy to help with words of advice and encouragement. I've had it checked and the gp isn't concerned and after speaking to other sleevers I'm reassured :-) x
  13. I looked on the world according to egg face and wanted to make some of the ice creams but I'm not sure that the ingredients are available in the Uk. Protein shake? Is that the same as slim fast in the uk? Plus the syrups? Not sure what they would be here. Any one know the UK equivalent? Thanks :-)
  14. Not really, my weight seems to be everywhere :-) the pain isnt the exit wound, it lower down, like you say a pulling sharp pain. Glad to hear its normal. I will keep my eye on it incase there's any problems. I did get my gp to look at it but she didn't know anything about the procedure but was able to reassure me that there wasn't a leak. Thank you for your advice :-) x
  15. I did have the pain from the exit site but this is further down and very sharp. I was told its where they sewed the muscles back together. I just hope its stops soon x
  16. I will look that up now :-) I was just thinking of making ice cream for the children so this recipe will mean I get some :-) thank you so much :-D x
  17. I blend thicker soups with veg in them then water them down with veg stock depending on what soup it is, this makes its so it can pour like my surgeon stated. I am struggling with ideas to make meal times fun, we are a large family 7 in total and I hate sitting there drinking my weak soup while they enjoy proper meals :-( these are the times I find it the hardest especially when they are having something I really enjoy. Two more weeks then I'm on soft so must continue on liquid and know that its only the short term I will be able to eat properly one day just smaller portions :-) x
  18. Just at wk 2, lost 24 pounds in total with preop :-) x
  19. I'm 2 weeks out and have pulling sharp pain down my left side, I was told this was due to the internal stitches where the surgeon has sewn the muscles back together well to prevent hernias. I've been in pain with this for over a wk now, just got over the dreaded shoulder pain to end up with pain in my side. Pain relief doesn't help at all.
  20. I'm in the UK, on day 15 of the liquid diet and was advised to do four weeks. I'm so bored of the diet but my surgeon advised me I can have soup as long as I water it down, it needed to flow from a cup like water. This has helped as I've been able to try different soups but some days I barely eat as everything makes me nauseas. I'm still experiencinf pain down my right side from the internal stitches but on the plus side I've lost 24 pounds since the pre op diet :-)

    Sweet

I've found that if I have a sweet craving I just have one chocolate button and let it melt on my tongue, this is the best tasting button ever and stops my craving. I could maybe try a highlight or options hot chocolate as I'm still on the liquid diet, only two wks post op. I have found that the button works perfectly and one button is very small amount of calories. :-)
  22. Hi I'm a Nurse in the uk and I had my surgery 2 weeks ago, 23rd Jan 2013. I was advised by my surgeon that due to my job I would need 6 weeks off, I've had quite a lot of pain since the operation, the usual shoulder pain but then I've experienced a pain in my left side, I was told this was due to the internal stitches. I am quite certain that at this point I would be unable to do my job, I still have problems when I bend down to pick something up off the floor, never lnd bending to apply teds or manual handling.
