Hello Everyone! I just got my date - April 15! I'm in the Dallas area and using Dr Veninga. Anyone else getting their GS in Dallas/Plano about the same time? I need to get my blood work done this week. I've been doing the Opt-Fast shakes since Friday. Doing OK...down 3 lbs in 2 days, which is amazing since I usually have to really work for every oz. My biggest fear is that the GS won't resolve my endocrine issues that have made it so hard so lose ( thyroid, POCS, insulin resistance). I so want to lose! I lost 85 lbs in 2006 thru diet and exercise, but 4 years later as I went thru menopause I could not keep it from coming back. I'm afraid I'm broken that way. I'm hoping very low calorie intake I'll do it for me. Anyone with similar issues? Any suggestions?

I'm nervous but excited. Sometime I feel like its so soon and other times I wish it was tomorrow. I'm still doing a lot of research and trying to self educated as much as possible. I'm also still going through the steps got insurance and preop clearance but as of now I'm scheduled for April 15.

April 15 here! Super nervous but excited. Everyone I've talked to who has had it says they wish they could have it done 10 years ago.

It just hits home in all the bad ways. I heard the news while recovering in the hosp. I don't usually cry for strangers, but I cried for him. Just so sad.

I'm the member of the month on vst! I will be signing autographs outside cvs on the corner of 1st and amistad. Please be courteous to others while in line. No need to push you may be there for a few hours. Also please don't shake my hand unless your wearing gloves! Thank you so much and hope to see you there!

Hey Everyone. While I am a not a low BMI I have somewhat run int the same thing. My grandmother (who is paying for everything) told me if I got down to 200lbs I would look wonderful. But I just kind of looked at her and said but my Ideal weight is between 130 and 150. She then got very huffy and told me I would be too skinny if I weighed any less then 180. So I lied and told her I would only get down to 190... I think it's ridiculous for a woman who is so concerned about my health and longevity to then tell me not to get down to a healthy weight. My goal is 140 and we'll see how I look and feel.
Please don't let others get you down. You know you can lose weight with the help of a sleeve and your Doctor and Surgeon know it too or they wouldn't be recommending it. Even fat sleevers with BMI's like mine know not everyone has 250lbs to lose. Some people just need to lose 50 and you guys need help just as much as those of us who have more to lose.

April feels like a year away. It can't come soon enough!

Today was the second time that someone told me that they didn't think i was "big enough" to justify having this surgery. I take this as a backhanded compliment. I'm what's considered to be a low BMI. However, im qualified for this surgery and have full support of my doctors. My bmi is 37.5. I am a 31 yr old female. I weight 238 right now, my highest weight. I'm 5'7". I have about 80-90 lbs to lose to be a healthy weight. I take it as a compliment because its as if they are saying "ehh your not so bad" but it also really hurts my feeling and makes me second guess myself. I'm very overweight, I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and am at risk of becoming a diabetic. I've struggled with my weight my whole life. I've been bullied, I have low self esteem and I've tried every diet in the book. Twice. I don't know I guess I'm jus feeling discouraged. The funny part is that I was told this as I was leaving my pysc evaluation, in which the physiologist told me he fully supports me having the surgery, thinks I've very well prepared and educated. As I was leaving his office I made small talk with another sleeve patient waiting to go in. As we were chatting he said "to be honest you don't really look like you need this surgery, you look ok now". I thanked him but explained that its been a life long struggle with ups and downs. As I left it really made me second guess my decision. Just because I "don't look that fat" doesn't mean I don't fall into the "obese" category or have health problems because of my overweight. Ugh I guess I just needed to vent. Any other low BMI's every experience this?

You are so right! I see people eat food now & I think "wow, I could never eat all that" then I smile...cause I LOVE it!!

Oh man, this brought back so many memories! I'm only four months out and have absolutely no desire to do that when it was something I'd do on the regular. Be excited for your new life coming soon!
