No one told me but after a 4wk long stall, I KNOW I am!!! I cut my carbs in half, from 100 to under 50 and threw out the protein bars that a friend online called "glorified candy bars" and after making those changes on Monday, I have lost 4lbs!!! I am thrilled!!! Just goes to show we are all different and what works for one may not work for another. I had tried exercising more, upping my calories, counting points (WW), and the scales did not move one pound during April!! Hang in there, u will find what works for you...keep your chin up and keep the faith that this will work!!

DCG, it is a part of human nature to be inquisitive. When our brains take over and want us to be obsessed over something, is when we need to stop and assess what the real issue is at hand.
For me, I KNEW i was going to worry about the scale moving. This is why I put the tape on the scale and said forget it... I am not going to waste my time stressing over this. If I show up at the Dr or NUT and I have been following their orders and there is a problem we will take care of it then. I will NOT sabotage myself....LOL

DCG, I loved this Chicken soup. The only issue was the soup had to be very warm but not hot in order to enjoy it.
The unflavored I was not really a fan of only because it had a cheesy smell to it. Still, I followed the unjury suggestion which was to add it to Crystal Lite. My Crystal Lite was lemonade... not very good with this unflavored protein. I do think that it will taste better in other things though, like mashed potatoes.

I use Syntrax Nectar Medical. It is the only reasonably priced protein that is unflavored and most importantly, unsweetened. I hate artificial sweeteners and I detest stevia.
I mix it with 2 tablespoons of real full fatted Brown Cow Cream on Top yogurt and a quarter cup of non-fat dryed milk. Delicious and not too sweet. I would rather adulterate my own protein thank you.
I also have to supplement it with plenty of liquid vitamins as it has no supplements in it.

I simply love avocados. I used tolove to add avocados to everything prior to surgery. Now that I know how they relate to healthy weight loss I will make sure that I incorporate it many of my dishes, especially salad and tuna fish.

lilbearazmom, I thought the same thing. The fact that slightly increasing your caloric intake may be what your body needs to move away from the shock state and think about burning fats again. To top it off it is considered a healthy fat! What I used to do prior to surgery was make tuna fish sandwiches with avocados instead of mayo. It doesn't look the greatest but it is OMG yummy!
newat52, where are you now? I am sure you can still get avocados. The Hass ones from Mexico might not be available everywhere but the more giant ones (like in Florida) maybe.

Interesting. Avocadoes are a superfood. I also wonder how much it has to do with just bumping up calories a bit using avocado...I bumped my calories up to 1200/day and I broke a stall- over 4 lbs in a week lost.

I have not heard of the abdominal binding, however I did have a lot of pain in my abdomen when I coughed or sneezed and it was difficult to get up and down and in and out of bed. My friend bought me a firm pillow to "hug" when it hurt. It really helped me a lot. Just a suggestion

Erp makes a good point that there are some higher calorie foods that are also nutritionally valuable. Just keep after it, you're going to find that sweet spot.
That is surprising and upsetting that the premier shakes are staining your teeth! Costco has an awesome return policy - I'm sure you could take your unopened cases & return them.

To get my calories up, I added healthy fats like avocado and hemp seeds. I stopped buying low fat cheese (except string cheese and babybel- prefer lowfat there). I also added more fiber rich foods like carb balance tortillas, fruit and veggies. My carbs are up but they are healthy carbs. I did add one food that could be considered a slider but it is healthy, dry roasted edamame, 1/4c is 130 calories and 14 grams of protein. I can eat 1/2c of those buggers. I would try for 800 cals for a couple of weeks and then 1000 after that.

You might try going more slowly to give your body a chance to adjust as you up your calorie intake. You might try getting to 800 calories, do that for a couple of days, then move up to 900 calories, and so on. You essentially doubled your calorie intake in one day - no wonder your body didn't know what to do with it!

I go in on Thursday, and I also have had a slight cold for the past week or so, talked to my surgical coordinator about it and she says as long as it has not effected your breathing, or is something bronchial then you should be fine. My surgeon won't do it if it's accompanied with a fever or bronchial issues.

I have tried it just in one of my choc protein shakes with milk and it was good. I have heard that you can put 2 tbsp in a container of plain greek yogurt with a packet of artificial sweetener and the claim is that it tastes like a Reeses! That sounds like a stretch but I bought the yogurt and will try this weekend.

Will have to copy this and try it. I like the fat free refried beans 1/4 cup spread on small plate, ground sirloin with seasonings, about an ounce, 2 T. non fat greek yogart, and a sprinkle of 2% Mexican cheese. Heat in micro. Adjust to your liking. I don't like greek yogart but can eat it this way to add protein.
