Improve my mobility...I never want to be bedfast again; I suffered an injury and was bedfast for nearly 6 months. My increasing weight made it so much worse even when I was mobile again; I knew I'd be bedfast long-term, or permanently, if I didn't get my weight in control...that was my # 1 reason in seeking wls.

Hey everyone, I hope that your day is going well thus far. :-) Just wondering...when you think about this journey of better health, what is the most important thing/goal, etc to you? The key is to pick only one thing. I'd like to see what you all think. For me, the most important thing to me along this journey is that I NEVER GIVE UP. This is not easy & sometimes I feel weary/overwhelmed when I think about how hard I have to continue to work to accomplish my goal & maintain a healthy BMI, but I refuse to give up. I've given up too many times in the past & that's part of what got me to 303lbs to begin with. No matter how hard it is....I...Must.....Keep...Pressing....On. (Sigh) WE WILL DO THIS LADIES & GENTS!!!

I eat veggies with lunch and dinner and occasionally for a snack.< /p>
Here's a couple of typical veggie options for me. I'm further out than you, so you might not be able to eat as much.
Soup: I like the Progresso Tomato Basil Soup. I pick a Soup with lots of veggies. I also like Anderson Split Pea Soup and Butternut Squash soup. Have it with a ham and cheese rollup (ham lunchmeat rolled around a lite string cheese) or 1/2 sandwich or for veggie Soups like minestrone and southwest veggie, add a couple ounces of chicken or meatballs.
Salad: I buy a small bag of spinach or baby greens and add a little other stuff. I use about 1/2 cup of lettuce and a 1/3 cup other veggies or fruit. Sometimes I add Protein to the salad, or I have it on the side. For example, 2 oz chicken chopped and tossed with a little sugar free orange jelly, over 1/2 cup spinach with a few snow pea pods (pull the strings off first), a few mandarin orange segments and a couple tablespoons sliced almonds with Newmans Lite Sesame Ginger Dressing.
Cooked veggies: I like zuchinni (slice a few rounds with a mandoline slicer and cook along side whatever Protein you're making). I like frozen because I can just shake out enough for my meal. My favs are frozen whole green Beans, frozen roasted peppers and onions from Trader Joes, and frozen peas.
Snacks: I love sugar snap peas, baby carrots, and cucumbers for a crunchy snack. I eat them plain or with a dip made from ranch dressing mix stirred into greek yogurt.

Your body is adjusting to SO MUCH! Surgery and calorie reduction is putting your system into overdrive and it's thinking it has to save you. So it ain't gonna give it away too easily. Be patient and start getting used to the new healthy lifestyle and eventually the weight will go down.

I know its easier said than done but patience is all I can say. I freaked every time weight loss slowed but as soon as I said I don't give a @#$% no more it moved down. Keep up the great work and try to weigh once a week only and measure your self too.

I'm def not suggesting this as a fun exercise, but I will tell you...the 30 day squat challenge that I found on-line has really changed my life. Sounds silly, but seriously. Before surgery I would frown at lunges & squats & ALWAYS avoided them. Well, a friend of mine is a personal trainer & my legs are def a trouble spot for me. She suggested it & one day, I picked up the 10lb dumbells & just went for it. First day was 50. My legs have changed so much. They are much stronger & I'm starting to feel that they are sexy!
Anyway, on to the fun stuff...Zumba is awesome! Walking is one of the best exercises & not hard on your body. Water aerobics is awesome & very good on your joints. THen, dancing is a blast & you burn so many cals.

I agree based only from my personal experience cause I've eaten all of the following in moderation, BUT I've had pizza, Panda Express Orange chicken with Steamed Brown Rice, Buffalo Wild Wings chicken Wings with Sauce (both bone in & bone out) & I didn't gain from it. I only stayed the same. So, I'm thinking that it would take quite an effort to gain a substantial amount after the sleeve. Disclaimer: AGAIN, THIS IS ONLY MY EXPERIENCE. I AM NOT PROMOTING THE food LISTED ABOVE. IT'S MY SLEEVE & MY LIFE. I ENJOYED ALL OF IT IN MODERATION & WILL CONTINUE TO EAT LIKE THIS AT TIMES CAUSE IT WORKS FOR MY LIFESTYLE.

I think you have to purposely try to gain to not lose. Like, constantly drink calories and eat slider foods, or eat until your stuffed all the time.

CONGRATS!! Feels good, huh? My advice would be to prepare your mind like you're entering the ring for the fight of your life. Prepare to win. Plan your meals, Water, etc carefully/strategically. DO NOT let the scale control your mind. Look at it & rejoice if there is a loss, but if there is no loss or if there is a gain, be patient with your body. As long as you are doing everything within your power to make it happen, just sit back, relax, & let your body catch up. Also, be creative once you get off the restricted diet. People ask "Can I have this, that, etc", well, I, for example, took a small tortilla (low carb one) & made a pizza with it (only few pepperoni). You can enjoy flavor & texture, & be satisfied while losing weight. I could go on & on...hope this helps. God bless!

Hey everyone! I'm just checking in. I had a hectic morning but was determined to exercise....& I did. I also stuck to my plan of walking on both breaks. I was also able to update my Ticker to reflect a loss of another 2lbs!!! I'm happy as you can tell. I had a mini stall, so this is great. Now this next part is for those of you that understand....I just want to give Glory to God, because he wakes me up every morning & gives me the tools & strength to (day by day) make my goals & dreams a reality. I'm so thankful for having the opportunity to have the surgery.

I am down a 100# and man I feel great. anyone wondering if you should have this surgery the answer is YES. I was on 600mg of blood pressure medication daily. And was about to be put on medication for diabetes. Now I'm of all medication, my daily blood pressure reading is about 117/78. I paid cash for my surgery and it was worth every penny.

I totally can relate. Not too long ago, my job had an "Event at the Lake" & I was so excited about the Zip Line. I waited in line in the heat & sweating just to get to the front of the line & the harness would not fit around my waist. Everyone in the line looked. That gave me so much more determination & I felt like I needed to "fight for it" even harder. Hang in there. It's hard to experience things like that, but it makes us stronger. You got this! :-) Best Wishes.

mysleevemylife reacted to sharonintx in When can we drink soda
Yes I've had soda. It didn't cause any problems but it did make me feel very full for hours. It was like the bubbles just sat in there the rest of the day. Some people tolerate it very well though. My suggestion would be to just have a couple sips here and there, for no other reason than to avoid the full feeling that may keep you from eating real food.< /p>
Oh - and good for you having the very nerve to ask a question that our die-hard forum members will consider a "rule breaking" behavior:) Get ready for all the preaching that will most likely follow your question. Just go ahead and read it all while having a taste of your favorite carbonated beverage.

Hello, I'm sure you will def received mixed reviews/answers on this one, because I've found that Docs differ on this theory. My Doc told me that beer in moderation would be fine AFTER I'd gone through my first mandatory diet stages & at 5mos out, you're def past that part. Now, I've personally stayed away from carbonated drinks, because upon my own research, I've found that more often than not, sleevers don't recommend them. I would def to be sure ask your surgeon, BUT don't just get an answer, make sure he/she backs up the answer with more than just an "Because I said so" approach, because I'm a strong believer in knowing why/why not so that it makes sense to me. I know that I really didn't give a direct answer, but that's only because there really isn't one unless it comes from your surgeon. I hope this somewhat helps, though. Hey, update me. I'm curious to see how this turns out. Best wishes.

Yes, I would also say to have a heart to heart talk with yourself & revisit your intial reasons for having the surgery in the first place. I also recommend setting fresh goals for yourself that have nothing to do with the scale, just NSVs only. Then, write down your vision & plan that you have to knock off the last lbs you plan to lose & hang it where you will be reminded daily. Hope this helps. Best wishes...

I was sleeved Dec. 4, 2012. In the 8 months prior and 5 months since, I have lost a total of 60 pounds, which is great, but have gotten complacent. I am eating the right foods most of the time, and I am usually eating less than 1000 calories a day, but I am not losing weight. I need to loose 50 more pounds before the back surgeon will see me again. I am down 60 in one year and 50 - 75 to go. I am losing my gusto! I am down from a size 26 to an 18W which is great, but I seem to have stalled out mentally and physically. Eke.
