6 weeks pregnant and no appetite

I have had awful nausea the first trimester. Now at 16 weeks I have found I am hungry again. I did have to rely on shakes to get calories and Protein in. Even now its a struggle cause I never want to eat really. Congrats on your pregnancy!

I could really use a mentor!

HI Jenny, congrats on your decision to have surgery. Your anxiety is TOTALLY normal! I called to try to cancel my surgery with any excuse in the book and I am so glad that I didn't actually cancel it. I am 13 months out and down 108 lbs. It has been nothing short of amazing! My 2 year old son loves that I run around with him all day long and ride on his toys. Your daughter will have so much fun with all the new things you can find you will do!

    Silly Hospital Clothing Questions

I wore maternity yoga pants under my gown. They were super soft and comfy. I wore them home too.

    Hospital Question

I brought chapstick, a pair of sandals, maternity yoga capris (since they were loose in the stomach), phone charger, and tablet. Everything else they had for me.
  8. @ Congrats on your decision. I chose not to tell many people. To this day only 3 people (my husband, sister, and boss) know I had gastric surgery. I chose not to tell especially before surgery because I didn't want people talking me out of it. My boss did try to talk me out of it. I know others have been as open as posting it on their Facebook, telling everybody they meet, ect. That is not for me. Hopefully everybody receives your news with open minds and positive thoughts!

    I need advice

I am 1 year out. I remember the days of not feeling "Normal" because I could only eat a couple of bites. Also I was depressed that I could only eat a couple bites. I can't eat a "meal" as in pre-surgery 1500 calories in one sitting "meal". But I can eat about 4 shrimp, a couple bites of salad, and a couple bites of rice in one sitting. I eat many small meals now and don't mind it. It has become my life and I can't remember how it feels to eat so much in one sitting any longer. Hang in there, it gets better!

    No Pre-Op Diet?

I had no pre-op diet, some surgeons believe the pre-op diet shrinks the liver, other doctors state there is no substantial proof of that. Each surgeon is different has their own preferences.

    Anyone ever have second thoughts?

I called 2 days before surgery to cancel. Tried every excuse in the book to cancel. Even the morning of I was debating backing out. I went through with it and couldn't be happier. I have my 1 year checkup on Thursday. I had high blood pressure and was worried I wouldn't be around for my son if I didn't go through with surgery! Ultimately this is your decision. Think about it long and hard. Think about what you want out of life, Only you can decide if this is right for you. I see you are having surgery in Illinois, if you are up for it, Good Shepherd in Barrington (where I had surgery) has a great support group where you can go to meet others and ask questions.

    Sex and a new sleeve?

We waited about 3 weeks, just because I was in pain the first week, sore the second and just tired the third. Nothing went wrong.....again no swings, trapeze or anything too wild and you will be ok.
  13. If you click on my profile and look through my pictures, I posted a 6 month scar picture. I will never be a bikini model but I could care less! I weighed about 175 lbs in the pictures.

    BBQ Post op?

While I don't really eat at BBQ restaurants because we have a competitive BBQ team I still eat BBQ just in a lot less quantity. We usually compete with ribs, chicken, beef, and pork. I eat a sample bite of each. Post op food doesn't have the same control over me. I can enjoy and savor that 1 bite of each. I only started eating BBQ again at about 6 months out because it's a lot tougher to digest and I followed all of my doctors rules. If you click on my profile, my after picture is at a BBQ competition at 7 months out and down about 80 lbs. I have continued to love BBQ and still lost weight.
  15. We have a local deals and steals website on facebook where I sell mine. If they don't sell on there then I take them to consignment but I don't get much that way.
