onelessfatgirl got a reaction from Mrs.RRn in Weight During/After Pregnancy
    Hi there,
I'm just over a year out and 20 weeks pregnant. I've lost 100+ (it fluctuates) lbs (pre pregnancy).
My OB and I discussed my weight history, my past pregnancies, and my current pregnancy and she gave me they ok to not gain (but not lose) any weight. If I do gain, we hope it's less than 10-15 lbs. So far I'm right on track at 163 and my baby is growing just as s/he should. I even have a bit of a bump showing!
    My questions for you are...
How much weight did you plan to gain?
How much did you actually gain?
How did you stay on track with your weight during pregnancy?
How much weight did you have to lose after birth?
Were you able to lose the weight and what was that like compared to your pre-pregnancy sleeve weight loss?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply!

I'm now 9 months out, down 100lbs from my heaviest and my tom is STILL not regular. It git crazy... like 50+ days in a cycle. Now it's down to 38. But talk about stress each month. I'm not trying to get pregnant! I just got my sexy back!

Hello all! I have a desk job. I'm sitting at the computer practically all day. I also recently decided not to join the gym right now due to paying bills!! lol...So, I just want to share with you how I overcome my obstacle of having a sedentary job. I get two 15min breaks. I put on my 5lb ankle weights & walk on breaks. I use dumb bells & do arm exercises while sitting. I also use a "thigh master" thingy while I'm sitting at my desk. I've found ways to get exercise at work. There's no excuse for me! :-) Maybe this will motivate some or give some a few ideas. I'll join the gym eventually cause I will be using the pool & I love exercise classes but not yet. Best of luck everyone.

OK, I think I'm all caught up with the invites. I set up the group, but anyone who is a member can invite people, so if you are already a member and see someone posting here that they'd like to be added, you can go ahead and do it, so they don't have to wait for me to get to it.

I have a master's in counseling as well. I focused on school counseling and was planning on doing the extra classes/internships in order to work on my LPC. I moved right after graduation though and the city I moved to didn't have anywhere for me to take those classes. That was 8 years ago. I have worked in social services in family preservation/reunification for many years though. Currently unemployed (by choice) in order to focus on traveling with my husband (he has a really flexible schedule). One day I hope to go back to counseling but even my school license is currently expired so I'll have to deal with that. For now, I'm loving not working!

And several of you have mentioned the work and support - I agree with that too.
I intentionally picked a surgical practice with a mandatory support follow up (nutrition and exercise). I knew that I would deny I needed it, but i would need it. I am quite sure that was what took me from losing maybe 70-80% of my excess to getting to goal.
I work out, i watch what I eat... hey wait, you mean I am behaving like most "naturally" think women my age do to maintain their weight? What - you mean it isn't just EASY for everybody else and I am the only one? Alot of it is you need to get over yourself and just do the work, do what needs doing - just like everybody else has to. The surgery just helped me, gave me a fighting chance, it is still up to me.

I wanted to eat! I love to eat! I had this surgery to essentially "take my free will away" for a expanded amount of time so I could further work on these issues. This is what I signed up for, pain from a major surgery and the ability to eat copious amounts of "bad" food ripped away from me!!!!
    Ok deep breath rant over
    Edit;
That's my favorite "I just don't like the shakes"
    Ok now I'm done hehehe

I dunno Laura, I think it has to do mostly with the mental and physical aspects of going through all this. One of the things that I notice that might contribute to the regret thing is that a lot is that people aren't prepared for the surgery. Typically you see them complaining about the pre-op diet, or they don't like the taste of Protein Shakes etc. They want to start eating a week or so right after surgery. To me that's a clue to me, that they aren't taking the whole thing as serious as they need to and those seemed to be the ones that voice the most regret. I also see a lot of people in pain and can't eat or drink, and I wonder about that too? Maybe I'm one of the mutants that got lucky. I've never had any "symptoms" like that. I followed my Drs orders exactly (well except for that whole eating enough thing) and I got my butt in shape pre-op (well as good as I could) and I never looked back. Never had a problem drinking or eating much of anything. I'm not 100% happy losing a pound a week, but it is going down not up and a year ago I couldn't say that. My soon-to-be ex still doesn't get how I was able to get sleeved on a Tuesday, go back to work on a Monday and hit the gym the same week, then two weeks post op, fly from NC to NM with my staples still in and not once have a problem. You just got to suck it up and deal, and maybe that's what we are seeing a lack of... I dunno...

Surgery in itself will not make you happy...
As a matter of fact surgery will not change your psychological issues with food.
I hope that you have discussed these issues with your surgeon and it is also helpful to go to a support person to talk about these issues.
    Good luck to you,
    Laura
And I should say I do know what you are talking about, it's a hard road giving up your comfort, your friend, your way if life.

I was a microsofty in the early 1/2 of last decade and end of previous century. Loved the free pop. Did not love the culture so much after 4 years (I know, not a long time). After that 10 years with RR Donnelly and now loving my time with Oracle creating great software.

So stage 2 soft/purée? In that case canned beans/ refried Beans. I know you don't want to cook so hey eat them as is! you could bring tuna in the pouches or tuna and cracker kits..
Premier Protein shakes are ready made and shelf stable, you can buy those at costco or SAMs club.. I am going camping next week so a case of those are definitely coming with me!
Is that the stage you are going to be at? Purée? Soft?
    Shaved deli meats also

I'm a lil over 600 cals a day. I'm trying to do more eating of Protein rather than drinking. I'm ok to be on soft foods (including soft meats) now. I find that I burp up eggs each and every time I eat some. I feel full after 2.5 ounces drpending on the consistency of the food.
But what really got me lately is that when I eat something really flavorful (even if its on my ok list) I feel guilty. Is anyone else in that weird head space?

I've hit that week 3 change in weight loss. I had lost close to 30 lbs but gained a few back. I was really bummed at first. But, I'm not worried I read up on it and understand my body is trying to preserve it's stores of fat and Water.
I am exercising more and more. I take the stairs at work about 8-12 times a day. My goal is to do 20-40 mins cardio 3 times a week and alternate days with 3 days light free weights and yoga/pilates exercises.
I'm feeling good - normal. I've come down 2 pants sizes and can tell my body is changing shape. So, I'm just hopeful that things will start moving before too long.
My family has been so supportive! My husband takes pleasure in shopping and concocting new drinks and dishes for me (and him about 50% of the time) to eat. We've taken several family walks/bike rides which my kids are loving. And, on Easter my Aunt hugged me and told me she could see a big difference, the weight was falling off, and she was proud of me. Both my mom and husband see me daily and have commented on how my face is changing and my pants seem or look too baggy like they may fall off. The one down side is that I can tell I'm more hormonal. I can cry at the simplest things. SMH. But despite the freeze on the scale and t he occasional tears, I'm doing well. I'm thanking God every day for seeing me through this, for helping me stay positive, and for giving me supporters.
