  1. This might sound completely crazy, but I'll ask anyways. I was sleeved on Jan 8, and I still haven't learned what my body is feeling. I never feel hungry, I never feel full or thirty or anything. But I know I have to keep up on fluids and sugar free jellos and what not. Everytime I eat/drink something my stomach sounds like an emptying bath tub, gurgling and rumbling as I eat/drink. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something you associate with hunger or fullness? I am having a hard time learning my new body and the last thing I want to do is end up back in the hospital! I haven't been able to eat or drink more than 2 ounces within about an hour period. How much were you keeping down in the first week? Any input would be greatly appreciated!! This is all so new! :-)
  2. I can't believe I'm really posting this picture. It's been a long 8 months and I'm a slow loser, but with the help of my fabulous sleeve and the insanity workout program, I am down 97 pounds!! I've never felt so good, I feel ALIVE. I feel like I can be me and act and dress how I want and not worry about being judged because I am the fat girl. The sleeve was the best decision I have ever made for myself, I know I couldn't have done it without it. If your on the fence, please - do it for yourself!! I'm so glad I did. DOS 1/6/13 Starting weight 262 lbs Current weight 165 lbs Goal weight 150 lbs

    9 days post op pics

You look amazing! I'm very interested in this surgery but worried about the pain since I live alone. About how long would you say it was until you could get around on your own? How is the pain now? Also how long did you plan to take off of work? Thanks so much for the info & pictures. Definitely an inspiration for me!

    "Hair" Today, Gone Tomorrow...

I'd say I honestly lost about 2/3 of my hair since surgery. I hate to say it but I think it is inevitable. I thought "oh, I'm only 22 and I only have 100 pounds to lose, if I take my vitamins that won't happen to ME". WRONG. Apparently age/weight don't have that much to do with hair loss at all. Starting at about 3 months post op I started losing clumps at a time every time I'd shower or brush my hair. Finally now at about 9 months post op it has slowed down and hair is starting to grow back, but I had to get hair extensions to feel like a woman again. Losing weight was the best thing I could have done for myself, but loosing my boobs AND my hair all at once was hard for me. I took my vitamins, including biotin, and got plenty protein daily. I hope others have better luck with this topic than I!!

    Tanning after surgery

I waited almost 3 months but now I tan a few times a week and my scars haven't gotten any darker at all, they kind of just blend in now that I have some color; which is great!!
  8. Oh guys, I am just ready to rip my boyfriends head off. We have been together for a little over two years now and I've always been extremely overweight my entire life. Well now I'm 3 months post op and almost 60 pounds down and I feel great! I work out every single day, can finally start dressing more age appropriate, and am finally finding some confidence that I've never had. And I hate to say it, but I think my boyfriend hates the idea of me feeling better about myself. He's been 100% against WLS from the start and always making remarks about how if I really wanted it bad enough I'd be able to do it without the sleeve! And now yesterday I went bathing suit shopping and was THRILLED that I could fit into a normal bathing suit (i don't think I've worn one since a infant) so I sent him a picture and be says to me "You know, I have to be honest, you've really let yourself go. You don't take care of yourself like you used to." WHAT?! This is the first time in my life that I actually am taking care of myself! This really hurt my feelings and I just can't shake it. I know this is kind of just a rant and I really appreciate having this forum to vent these issues too. Has anyone else had this kind of reaction from a loved one? I think it might be time to send him to the curb..... Here's the picture I sent him BTW Starting weight 262, current weight 206
  9. So yesterday I had my 3 month follow up with my surgeon. I've lost a total of 54 pounds since surgery, horray!! But my surgeon told me that 90% of his patients lose 50% of what there going to lose overall within the first 3 months. So he doesn't expect to see me lose more than another 50ish pounds within the next 2 years that he follows his patients. But I have way more than that to go!! Has anyone else heard anything like this from their surgeons? Or anyone have an experience that proves his theory incorrect? I hope so! That was actually rather discouraging to me. I'm working my butt off, I want to see my goal weight sometime!! Help VSG crew!!
  10. I was sleeved on 1/8 and I too was loosing at a pretty good pace up until the past few weeks. I started at 262 and I'm stuck between 206-210. It's been about 3 weeks at this weight and I just can't seem to break it. I've added a new cardio routine to my workout plan and still nothing. If anyone finds any fixes for a dreaded stall please keep me updated!

    Inches not pounds?

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one in this boat. I was sleeved the day after you (1/8) and the past few weeks have just been impossible to get weight off. I started at 262 and I'm stuck between 206-210 and I just can't break it. I even started 50 minutes of cardio daily and NOTHING! Please let me know if you girls find anything to break this stall and congrats on the weight loss thus far!

    Up

I wouldn't be too worried. For the first two weeks my weight was everywhere too. One day I was up three pounds and the next down five. Just keep getting all your fluids in and following your doctors orders and the weight will come off! Promise :-) And congrats on your new sleeve!

    Negative Boyfriend

Thank you guys so so so much! You've managed to put a big smile on my face. It took so much for me to get into a bathing suit anyways, never mind to have my own boyfriend pretty much tell me not to even bother. I just wanted to crawl back into my baggy t-shirts and shorts.
  18. You look AH-MAZING!! Any tips?!
  19. Stranger 123

    Very happy!

Wow!!!! You look amazing!! Such an inspiration. I am 22 with just about the same starting stats as you.. Except I'm one month post op only down 20 lbs. Any tips? You look soooo good!!

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I was sleeved on the 8th and dropped about 16 pounds the first week and nothing at all since. Pretty aggravating but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that its just our bodies adjusting and we'll start dropping pounds again in no time!!
  22. Hello everyone! I'd like to start by saying thank you to everyone who provides usefull feedback for this site, it has been a major source of support for me throughout this journey. I just got sleeved on January 8, and I cannot believe the pain I am still in. The hospital put a drain in that makes my entire side super sensitive I can't even sit or stand on my own. I was just wondering if anyone else has had experience with a drain? Will it get better once they take it out? I don't know how much more of this I can take, please lend some words of wisdom and/or encouragement. I really want this, but the pain is effecting my motivation. Thank you very much guys!!
