    How have your tastes changed?

Yes my tastes changed.... my desires changed as well.. I have told myself there is nothing I can't have. With that in mind.. there are many things I no longer want. I was addicted to fried foods pre op. Now that thought of a FF makes my stomach turn. I can not handle fried foods they make me nauseated. Sweets I enjoy but only a few bites and I am done. I have an occasional cookie but after one I am satisfied. This might sound gross to some but I have really enjoyed SF chocolate pudding with almond butter in it. When I crave sweets that is what I have as a snack. The almond butter adds protein to the snack. I do my best to have protien with every meal or snack. That seems to be my biggest challenge.
  2. Best Wishes to all of you!

    Uncomfortable feeling

In the first few months post op all my soups were creamed lowfat soups & had to be strained. Every surgeon is different. However, I was never uncomfortable & enjoyed the soups. I hope you feel better soon. Ps this is a work in progress. You will figure out what works for you! Best Wishes Tina

    Pain med shots...

Most likely you will not be effected all that much. You will still have the effects of the anesthesia in your system. My surgeon had me hooked up to a pain medication via the IV. Honestly, I very rarely pushed the button. Best Wishes
  5. It takes time.... You will get your energy back. It was at least six weeks for me. Your body is going through major changes right now. RELAX and take a deep breath. My surgeon said to shoot for 64 oz of liquids a day. I struggled the first month to accomplish that goal. As the swelling goes down it will get easier. I couldn't get my plumbing to work so I honestly have no answers concerning that. I do wish you all the best. Life does get less uncomfortable and confusing. Hang in there!
  6. Best Wishes for you both. I will be praying for you guys.

    Favorite resturants....?!?!

Red Robin. I was there today. They have grilled chicken on a stick and small.salads on the children's menu. Was.really good. Still took 1/2 home even from child's menu. However, so far that menu has had the healthiest choices.

How do you stop losing weight?

Basically you just add calories. With my insurance plan (Kaiser) we work with a nutritionist to get the right amount individually. I have not reached my goal yet. However, was informed that will my process. I choose the sleeve because there was only a 10 % different in pounds lost compared to the bypass. And the sleeve had no rerouting of anything. It is just a smaller tummy. I had a friend that had the lap band and almost died. Another friend has had the band in for 7 years and in total l o st less than 40% of her wieght. She is getting ready to get the bypass. Her choice because she is a diabetic. Hope this helps! Best Wishes to you.....

    Is 185 a good weight

My fist goal is to be under 200 lbs. My second goal is to be under 30% body fat. I really don't care what the charts say. I think some of them are just crazy! I actually sat down with my regular Dr. And we came up with a reasonable goal.for me.

    Nervous about procedure

One of my biggest fears turned out to be the silliest. I was worried I would not be able to.give up.diet soda. I could easily drink a six pack a day. Now I do not even miss it at all. My tastes changed after surgery. I never thought I would see that day..

    It's the little things......

Your day Is coming.... As far as portion control goes that is the beauty of the sleeve you get full fast. If you eat or drink one bite or drink too much it hurts or is extremely uncomfortable. So I like to say we have built in portion control.. it is a awesome feeling!

    Nervous about procedure

I backed out of the surgery 2 times. The 3 rd time was the charm. Fear can be nasty sometimes. For myself I had to get in touch with what I was afraid of. When my fears of not having the surgery and what my life would be like without the surgery out weighed the problems with having the surgery it was easy. Gosh I hope that makes sense. Let me try to clarity this. The first two times I was afraid of the procedure and what complications I might have after ward. Then after time had past and I had lost and regained the weight several times other fears developed. This time my fears were ..what if I continue on the road.... this extra wieght will slowly immobilized me. The fear of living a more and more shallow.life out weighed everything else. Oh my I hope that makes sense and helps.a bit. Best Wishes to you.

    Returning to work?

yes it was six months this almost to the day. However, they seem to be moving a bit faster now. My neighbor had it done and her whole process was about 4 1/2 months. However, that being said if you need it done during a certain time frame the surgeons office will work with you. My first visit with the surgeon he gave me 3 dates to choose from. Best Wishes to you.. Honestly, this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

    Help

There could be several reasons for nausea... I am with the majority and would say talk with your surgeon's office. I had to take nausea meds for about 6 weeks post op. Hope you feel better soon!
