  1. Im 48. I was sleeved on 11/13 and I've lost 23 lbs since.

Welcome to the best years of your life! I will be 48 in January and I have been sleeved for 2 years now. It's been the best decision I ever made. I wouldn't change a thing. There's been challenges along the way and still more to come but I'd do it again in a heart beat!

  2. Week 2 is two minutes of jogging? Oooo. Yours is harder. I use "C25K Free" by Zen Labs, and it certainly looks like it goes on freely for the full 8 weeks. I'm going to be so bummed if in the middle it says I have to purchase and then it starts over or something. :)

I have zen lab too and it is totally free. I am now using the zen labs 1/2 marathon trainer. You guys are doing great. Keep up the good work!

  3. Hi Everyone, some fabulous 40 stories on here. I turned 40 last June and we had a 70s dress up party and I felt like the biggest lump on my own Birthday. My surgery is in about 3 weeks and all your great stories are lifting me up. THANKS! I am hoping that my 40's are as energetic as my teens.

40's are better than the teens! We don't have parents telling us no. Lol ;-)

  4. The Disney Princess Half was AMAZING! I hurt a lot more at the end than I did on my last half, but made it in under 2:45, which was my goal. I had heard that the race gets really crowded at spots, but never had that happen. No races for me until April! Going to take most of the week off to recover. Just looked at my FitBit and it recorded 30,000 steps yesterday!!! Wow!

    Congratulations!

  5. I'm a slow loser as well. I was sleeved 12-6-12 and have only lost 60 lbs total. I have been in a bad stall for the last 6 months. I was going pretty well for the first 1/2 and then I was hospitalized for pancreatitis. A month later I had gallbladder surgery. I gave myself an extra 2 months considering what I had just gone through. I was 2 month alone recovering from the pancreatitis. Since them I have really struggled. I made the mistake of NOT measuring myself before the surgery so I have nothing to compare to. I am going to measure myself as soon as I get to the store to buy a tape measure. I have been faithfully exercising in the last 6 months. I am actually training to do a half marathon in September. It's a slow process as well. I just need some encouragement from the scales. :-)

  6. OOooh my first 40's post (turned 40 three months ago)! Turning 40 was actually a big motivator for me to have VSG. Two years ago, I was embarrased by my size and I felt like I missed out on my "flirty 30s." I decided from that point on that I wanted to be "40 and fabulous." I am now a year out and down over 100 lbs. Today, I wore a size small blouse and size 4 pants. Fabulous is now an understatement. :D

Wow! Congratulations! Welcome to the 40's.

  7. Hi I'm 42 was 41 when I was sleeved have lost 159 about 30 from my goal. This is the best thing I ever did for myself. Life is living and just living in it. I went boating the first time this past summer four wheeling. Doing so many things I would have never done at 365lb.

Congratulations on your success! Don't let nothing hold you back.

  8. Congrats on making it through the dreaded W6D1!! It's all mental at this point because your body will be able to make it through it. I always do a body check when I want to stop. Is my breathing ok? If not, I slow my pace down. Are my legs and knees ok? If not, I shorten my stride and slow my pace. Is my energy level ok? If not, I fuel differently next run. When I've bonked (had to stop running), 99% of the time it's because of energy.

What do you do for energy? I just saw my nutritionist last week and she told me to cut back on carbs. She told me to load up on a Protein Shake before my run. I'm also in a stall with my weight loss and she says it's because of too many carbs.

  9. Mr. Bean you look awesome and good luck on the half marathon. I know you will do great you are an inspiration to those of us who are chugging along at a snails pace trying to make it to 2 miles. Well after much anxiety I took your advice LisaT and found my magic pace which I discovered is just slightly faster than my fast walk but I did it. I ran the full 20 minutes. The things I promised myself and told myself in my head when I wanted to stop! I knew I was going to make it when I looked at my phone and had less than 10 minutes left. The next day on the app is back to 8 minutes. I sure this has some logic to it and I am determined to finish this app. Thank you for your words of encouragement.

That is so awesome!! You believed in yourself and that's the biggest battle. I have finally come to the realization that slow is better than no. I will get faster eventually. Each week I just added another minute to my runtime and I know that eventually the endurance will allow the speed to follow.

I love coming here and reading all of the encouragement from you guys. You're all the bomb!

  10. I've continued running 2-3 days per week after finishing c25k App and am chipping away at c210k App on the weekend since it is too long for me to do on workdays. Don't have a huge desire to finish that one necessarily but want to go further so who knows. My goal is to run 30 mins on regular run days and I'm finding it both boring and challenging to run those continuous 30 mins if that makes any sense but I love continuing with my running tho I've moved it inside for the winter for my workday 5 am runs. I am allergic to cold :)

Great to see you checking back in. I'm allergic to the cold too. LOL

  11. Week 1 of my marathon trainer done! I'm still running mainly on the treadmill. I like my solitude. I know I'm going to have to eventually take it outside but there's just something about my own space. Silly I know but it's working for me right now so if it ain't broke don't fix it is my mantra.

6 more days till Christmas! Do you have all your gifts bought? Lol

    Happy running everyone!!

  12. Personal best on the tread mill last night 36:38 on my 5k. It was rough, hadn't ran in a month for a few self imposed reasons (2 rib and a thigh tattoo in a 2 week time period)...lol! No regrets! Down 52 lbs since surgery on August 12, 68 lbs since first pre-op in May, 81 since highest in 2007.

    You look beautiful!
