I was doubly blessed with no gas pains and no nausea

What are you eating? How far out from surgery are you? Have you asked your surgeon about this?
-
I was a tight 40DDD, had breast reduction in 2008 to a 38C. Lost almost 80 pounds since WLS and now I barely fill my 36B bras. : ( I did things backwards but I never even had a thought of WLS when I did the reduction. If I ever have money for plastics it would be for a Tummy Tuck and arm lift....I can deal with itty bitties....lol

I saw the surgeon last July for my first visit and afterwards met with the office lady who gave me all the prepreq's the insurance would require. I did those in the last 10 months and sent them all into my surgeon's office insurance lady in Feb. The insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office was the one who submitted everything I've done that was required on 4/27. I've followed it all by the book. This is just a new requirement I wasn't aware (and I guess neither was the surgeon's insurance lady, who I may add is not very bright) of a year ago that will add another 6months too I'm afraid.
Well that is unfortunate that you do not have a good insurance coordinator fighting for you. Since this is a new requirement could you possibly file an appeal showing started the process prior to the new requirement? Best of luck You, don't give up.

Have you done all.of the prep without seeing a surgeon? I met with my surgeon before any of the pre-prerequisites. He had an insurance coordinator and her sole job was making sure all insurance requirements were met and dealing with the insurance company for the patient. Can you make an appointment for a consult and bring all of your documentation?

Does Oregon not have state temporary disability benefits? food banks? Unemployment benefits, EBT, etc? Local churches that help families in need? Find every possible benefit that you are entitled to and apply for it. Your surgeon's office should be able to help you with applying for disability.

Thanks, and of course I have a therapist, and I plan to fully disclose at our appt on Tues (first time I will see her since the surgery). I don't think I could talk about it so freely if I didn't. I mean, look, I'm not talking about like a large amount of food here. And, I mean, it's not like I can be the first person experiencing this, right?!
Also, don't worry about me physically because I totally would never let myself get that out of control. Right, though I get what ya'll are saying, and thank you for your concern.
Sounds out of control already....like several others have said already...seek help as soon as you can before you seriously hurt yourself.

I told no one except my husband, kids, parents and sister. This is your life, your body, your decision. At work they only knew I had to take off for medical reasons. One person actually asked me about it and I said hiatal hernia repair.
My parents and sister weren't told until one week prior. I am a very private person and I didn't want questions, comments, opinions, etc for weeks prior. I also didn't want people watching me eat post op thinking....hmmm should she be eating that? I also wasn't positive I would lose and maintain the loss and then be judged. I still have not told anyone. When people ask about my weight loss I say lots of gym time and low carb eating(which is true!)
I am not sure if any of this helped...but I think it is OK not to tell people if you do not want to.
Good luck with your surgery!

I was given Prevacid tha dissolved under my tongue. Maybe yo can try that.

Constipation is an issue for many. I used Miralax mixed in tea a few times a week until I was able to eat fruits and veggies. I still use it occasionally.

I was weighed in the pre op area prior to my surgery

Also the educational seminar I went to only talked about the different types of surgeries. But it was ran by a nutritionist so I had to start meeting doctors on my own
Hmmm, I went to 3 and they were all run by the surgeon, had info on the types of surgery, question and answer time and former patients in attendance to speak and answer questions.
Like I said before, keep looking until you are comfortable. I just had a feeling that Dr. Feteiha was for me. When you find the right surgeon you will know. Good luck. Oh, and by the way I can not say enough positive things about my nurses and patient care techs at Overlook, great care.

Hi Kathy. Your absolutely right it is my decision! It's just hard when your going they this alone I guess. The 1st doctor I went to said I qualify but he rushed our consult that's why I decided to see a second doctor. I'm also going to meet with the nutritionist Tuesday. Everything is moving so quickly !
Have you been to an educational seminar? I used Dr. Feteiha at Overlook, really like him and he required attendance at the seminar. It was very informative and I liked his presentation . I actually attended 3 seminars and listened o 3 different surgeons.
Definitely go for a second consult...or even a third until you are comfortable with your decision.

On full liquids you should be drinking Protein Drinks. Does your surgeon or nutritionist have them on your list?
-
I only told my immediate family for the reasons you stated. I didn't want questions, I didn't want to be judged or have anyone watch every bite I took. I am sorry your friend had this reaction.
Maybe you can get your support from a local WLS support group? Does your surgeon's office have them? Maybe google a support group?
Good luck on your journey.

Besides your nausea, If you are having a hard time drinking Water I just want you to know that is not uncommon for many people. It took me six or more months before I could comfortably drink Water. I found out that water has high surface tension so for me it "stacks up" in my sleeve (or it did I am now 2 years out and drink water normally). But at your stage I felt like even water was getting stuck and could only drink tiny sips. Thankfully I experimented by mixing water with diet cranberry juice, diet ice tea like Snapple, or Gatorade and that would lower that surface tension and I could get my fluids in. Before doing that I was getting close to dehydration but this trick worked. So while it won't solve all the issues, some people just can't tolerate plain water for quite some time post op. Even my doctor who is very good didn't know this could happen. Fortunately I can now gulp water down again and getting water stuck is only a memory. I hope your difficulties will only be a bad memory for you too very soon!
Me too! I just could not choke down plain water for months. I drank apple juice diluted 50/50 with water. It was higher in sugar than I wanted but I got fluids in and it didn't stop my weight loss.

Sorry about your mom.
Unless you have unforseen complications you really shouldn't be laid up for too long. A week or two and most people are back to work so you should be OK to help your Mom somewhat.

Oooh... here's another for us ladies... when your boobs no longer overlap the booth table at a restaurant!
Because they have disappeared
Can't do anymore protein!

Try the Isopure clear Protein Drinks. I have never tried them and from what I have read here you either love them or hate them. You can get them at Vitamin Shop, they are expensive but you need some Protein. Hydration is crucial at first but soon enough you will have to increase your protein.
