My surgery is Jan. 22! I am also guilty of eating whatever I can before jan. 8th. That's probably part of my anxiety. Ugh!

@amazon13 first and foremost this is a public forum and EVERYONE is entitled to his or her own opinion, next I posted exactly what I wanted, you have a choice to use the info I posted or not, furthermore I'm also traveling to Mexico alone and passing on the information I learned on a doctor via research and why I chose this doctor, for anyone who is traveling alone or even looking for a doctor if they don't have one!!!! Lastly I am not in any way affiliated with this doctor nor will I receive any financial gain if someone decides to use him!!!!
You was sleeved by Dr. Garcia so if I asked you why you chose him and you gave me your reasons would that be considered selling him, get some business and don't ever address me with innuendos of trying to sell a doctor thanks.
This is a public forum where everyone can have opinions, and answer a question as they see fit

Hey we have all been down that road, but here is a bit of info for you, I didn't get approved either, but I will be getting SLEEVED on Jan 11, 2013, I made the decision to travel to Mexico, I found a GREAT DOCTOR, Dr. Quiones who has a package special going on now for any member of this forum for $4000, he only does 4 surgeries a day, you have your private recovery room with round the clock medical attention, he also is a general surgeon who practices at the state hospital and teaches medical school, he also has no fatalities and a 100% no leak rate, My moto is "if there is a WILL there is ALWAYS a way"

This is a public forum but we still have rules our members must abide by. I understand your intent might not have been to promote or advertise your surgeon but you have to understand how it appears to everyone else.
You posted (and re-posted) the same contact and sales info about your surgeon, in multiple forums.
This is clearly not allowed according to our posted Forum Rules.
Thanks for your cooperation!

Hi Hun, congratulations on your sucessfull surgery wishing you many more accomplishments throughout your journey... I wanted to ask you one question, what exercise plan did your doctor go over?

I was just discharged. The doctor is awesome. He came in answered all my questions. We walked through the food and excercise plan. He gave me antibiotics, pain killers, and merderma for the scares. I drank the dye to ensure no leaks. Then a nice glass of apple juice. After three days of nothing, this was the best juice ever. I am very pleased. Knock on wood I have not had any pain. The doctor suggested that I take Maalox or milanta liquid before meals to coat my stomach during the first four weeks.
I'm excited to begin my new journey. My patient coordinator is taking us to a hotel here in Tijuana so that we are close in the event I need to see the Dr. After the checks, I think I will be just fine. I'm looking forward to becoming a loser.

I was sleeved yesterday. I am doing really good according to the doctor. I have a drain, no pain, slight discomfort in my stomach but overall not bad!
Thanks to this sight I was well prepared. I followed the pre op instructions completely. I was dreaming about being chased by a milkshake and fries jumping over the moon... Lol the temptation did not win. I'm in Tijuana and all is well.
The staff is nice. The facility clean and the doctors are always checking in on you.
Well off to get more rest. I will report back later.

I was in a similar situation. Without insurance there would have been no way for me either. I even went to the extremes of finding an employer that would have bariatric coverage. I took a phlebotomy class and got a job at the hospital where I wanted my surgery done. Trust me- I've wanted WLS for 5+ years. I've needed this- I HAD TO FIND A WAY!!! where there is a will there is always a way!!!

I am fighting UHC also. I didn't have the 6 months supervised diet. But I have been denied a few times. I'm gunna keep fighting and hope for them to rule in my favor. If my last appeal is denied then I will self pay, but I'm doing in the states. Most surgeons here do offer self pay pricing, and if that's the route you choose, it's worth looking at Mexico and the US. I looked into Mexico, but I prefer to have it done here. It's a personal choice and no one can make it for you. But I would do the 6 month diet while looking at options. That way if you choose to keep going with the insurance, you already have that started. And if not, then you have already started training yourself for the healthier life post op.
Also read your coverage documents. It should state in there if the diet is required. If its not and they used that to deny you, then you possibly have grounds for an appeal, complaint, grievance, ect. I wish you the best luck on your journey!!!!

I can get up to six weeks of fully paid short term disability. Hell I might stay in Mexico for a few more days....lol.
My husband thinks Im nuts to even think about Mexico.
I guess I like to be in control and I don't want to spend another six months jumping through hoops to be denied again.
I'm going to submit the WW stuff and write a letter and if it's denied after that I'll reassess.
