This is at home, but I tell my son it has broccoli in it, no matter what it is, and he doesn't touch it. It's nice to have this limited time in his life where I can trick him like that.

I didn't have a pump- I was given morphine through an IV when I requested it. Morphine sucks- made me itch. Usually they give dilaudid but there was a shortage at the time of my surgery. When I got home they gave me percoset, which in my opinion, is the best medication ever. Truly a "happy pill". LOL

You are too cute! Congrats on all your successes! I hope the best is yet to come for you!

What is a binge to you? And what are you bingeing on? More detail, please!

Um, no, don't drop your calories. You may be eating too little, although for how far out you are, it seems about right. Dropping them to 500 will seriously f- up your metabolism, not to mention it's not healthy. I eat 1000-1200 calories a day and I am losing.

Good for you! Great work! My surgeon didn't tell me a certain calorie amount, but the NUT gave me something that said once I was able to eat anything that I could/should go for 1200 per day. I have been going between 1000-1200, and the weight is still coming off. So, I am so there with you!!!!

Interesting. Avocadoes are a superfood. I also wonder how much it has to do with just bumping up calories a bit using avocado...I bumped my calories up to 1200/day and I broke a stall- over 4 lbs in a week lost.

It should get better. I am 4.5 months out and things are tasting pretty much the same as before surgery. It's nice.

You're obsessed with this topic! LOL Don't worry, most of us post opers have a load on our minds most of the time, so I suppose it's normal!!!

I didn't need one, but that doesn't mean everyone doesn't. If you think it will help, go for it.

Yes, any healthy diet is going to include fruits and vegetables, including after surgery. Usually, though, you won't be eating any salads or fruit until a couple months out or according to your surgeon's guidelines.

I think you did fine. No matter how far out we are, we are all a work in progress.

You're my hero. I don't have the courage to tell anyone except a few select people.

Not that this is a reason to eat chips and cookies, but sometimes we are able to drop a few if we go a little high on the calories for a day. It does something to our metabolism. Sounds like your body said, "Ok, she's giving me a few extra calories, so now I can let some of this fat go!"

Weird- Ihop here in Ohio is one of the cheaper places to go. An omelet breakfast here is maybe 7-8 bucks.

OMG, having the same thing day in day out sounds awful AND a way for the weight to come back due to deprivation. I would totally ignore that piece of advice. Variety is the spice of life, even after WLS.

Where are you on your level? Regular food or soft food? I mix it up every day pretty much, but I have my standbys: Special K protein cereal (sometimes with 1/2 banana), 2 servings of skim milk/day, 4 wheat thins w/ 1 oz pepper jack cheese, 2% cottage cheese w/ fruit mixed in, pure protein bars, greek yogurt smoothies, flat out "chips" with salsa or hummus.
Today I'm having:
B: 1/2 cup special K w/ 1/2 c skim milk
L: 1/2 serving of leftover meatloaf
D: small bowl of leftover chicken stew (MIL recipe- even better the next day)
Snacks: 12 oz skim milk, 1/2 cup 2% cottage cheese with no sugar added mandarin oranges, flatout chips with salsa for dipping
I don't alwys eat what I have dished out- usually there's leftovers.
I am 8 weeks out today- will be adding salads and nuts here in about a week- can't wait to make my own trail mix. I am not a no-or super low carb fanatic- I eat some carbs. My weight loss has been fine, I think. 37 lbs in 8 weeks. Total weight loss: 67 lbs

I am also having issues with eating too fast, and I am 7 weeks out. I am a really impatient person to begin with, and sitting there chewing and chewing and chewing tiny bites doesn't appeal at all & who has time for that? I pay for it, though. It hurts and feels like it's going to come back up. Not fun, but yet I hate the thought of it taking 30 minutes to eat 3 ounces of whatever protein I have in front of me. Annoying. Yet I will keep trying to go slower. Have to.

I honestly only weigh once a week. I do it that way for my mental health. People have to work out a relationship with the scale according to their own needs, both physical and psychological. It's personal. I don't have patience for measuring, but I know my clothes are baggier.

I personally don't think the hungry feeling is a good thing. Technically you're not supposed to feel hunger (at least not like before surgery). I get more of an "empty" feeling than hunger pangs. It is more likely acid reflux. If you're not on at least something like pepcid, get on it now. Good luck!

Your story is somewhat similar to mine- except my mother wasn't super thin or a marathon runner- but she struggled with her weight her whole life. She always made a big deal about how much I ate, and watched everything I put in my mouth. As a result, I became a secret eater, which I continued to do throughout adulthood, even out of her house. She instilled in me a very unhealthy relationship with food. I vowed I would never make food an issue with my kids. Thank you for posting this. I can SO relate.
