    Coffee Cravings!

I never drank as much coffee pre-surgery as I do now. It's my cross-over addiction. The thing about the Starbucks PSL- I had one a couple weeks ago (a tall, fit it in my cals for the day), and OMFG- it was soooo sweet- too sweet. I had sugar-overload mouth for hours after I drank it. Not good. I don't know how people order and finish a grande or venti. Yuck. On a lighter note, I found International Delight sugar free pumpkin spice creamer at the store this morning, so I am HAPPY.

    IT'S NOT HEALTHY! IT'S JUNK!

I rest my case, your honor.

    IT'S NOT HEALTHY! IT'S JUNK!

judgey wudgy was a bear....how do you know she's "lazy"? Maybe those yogurts were treats. You have no idea what her kids eat every day. You have chosen to make a life change, but that doesn't mean you should go around making judgments about others. Nor does it qualify you to. I honestly do my best to feed my son well. I really hate the thought that if I pick up a treat for him, some self-righteous woman next to me in a supermarket is automatically labeling me a lazy parent. Just a thought.
  4. Struggling. I am also a tad bit depressed in realizing with full force that VSG was never a cure for what's going on in my head. All is well in my life for the most part. I have a great new job that more than pays the bills, hubby's got a good job, we have excellent benefits, basically life is improving every day (the last few years have been rough for us financially, just like 90% of people, I'm sure). My son still has Autism Spectrum Disorder, but is doing very well at home and in school. For the most part, everything is fine in my life. So why did I eat almost 2000 calories yesterday? Why was yesterday such a battle? I am 5 freaking pounds from goal...just why? Ugh. Just a vent in hopes that some of you get me. I do see a therapist, so I will definitely be bringing this up next session, but ugh. Again.

    Some People are Rude..

Me too! No one has said to me, "Don't lose anymore weight!" I figure it's at that point I have arrived. LOL

Where do I stop...goal weight related....

For me, it wouldn't be "stopping" anything. Well, except weight loss. I would like to at some point be content with just maintaining- adding a few healthy calories. It will always be a battle. Just like before surgery- hence, NOT an "easy way out".

    Excess skin

I just looked at mine closely today and it's not good. I feel like I have loose skin EVERYWHERE. I'm like a deflated balloon.

    Post op question about coffee

Coffee is my crossover addiction, seriously. I mean I still only drink 1-2 cups a day average, but pre-surgery I drank it only very occasionally. I drink mine with sugar free creamer and splenda. I'm planning on ordering a sample pack of Click protein drink mix, just so I can get my coffee fix w/ a little protein...
  9. I hate all of you. No not really, but I have gone practically bald. My hair loss has been significant. I am 9 months out and still waiting for it to stop.
  10. So funny. That's one of the few sucky things about having this surgery- I always feel the need to explain why I am only eating 1/2 chicken breast, a tiny bit of lettuce, & 1/2 tbsp. of dressing, and I really don't want to go there with relative strangers. I don't know why people have the need to comment in the first place. I would never do that.

the 2nd worst day of my life (trigger)

So sorry for your loss. And know you are not alone- I am also a member of the m/c club. Keep your chin up. Time heals, truly. As an emotional eater myself, I can see how this would affect your diet. Hug your little girl extra tight and hang in there!
  12. Do you like dark chocolate? I have bought a bar of high quality Ghiardelli's and eaten it slowly, broken up into pieces, The pieces are fairly big and are approx. 70-80 calories. But chocolate isn't a trigger food for me.

    Frustrated and depressed

I think that the doctor really has your safety in mind when he says he wants you to lose 100 lbs before surgery. You need to go along with what he says and lose what you can before surgery. I was a hair below 300 (HW 302) when I had my 1st consult and lost 23 in 6 months before surgery, and my surgeon was thrilled with that. I didn't even have to do a pre-op liquid diet...good luck- you can do it!!!

    Calling all coffee drinkers

I also use SF creamer- I have used the Nestle Sweet Italian Crème and right now I have the International Delight Caramel Macchiato- both yum and 20 cals per tablespoon- I use 2 tablespoons, but 1 with a packet of stevia is fine too. I need to find a good SF syrup to use. Thanks for the ideas- my WM doesn't have any for some reason.

    Frustrated and depressed

I guess the question is, how much do you weigh? The surgery is very high risk for someone over a certain weight or BMI. I could see a Dr. wanting someone to lose 100 lbs if they were 500 lbs or something.

    I need help, feeling unsuccessful!

How long did you give the 1500-1600 calories before you gave up? I believe it's normal to gain a little at first when adjusting your intake. You might gain a few, but as your metabolism adjusts, you should start dropping again. I would try it again and this time give it at least a month. Edited to add that I think you're fantastic and an inspiration!!! Great job on your loss. Also, I eat 1100-1200 most days, sometimes as much as 1300, and I am losing- not super fast, but losing. I am 9 months out and 5 lbs from goal.

How do you track your calories?

MyFitnessPal. I am 9 months out and the only things I really pay attention to are calories and protein, although I have never been great at getting all my protein in. If I get 60 it's a good day. I eat 1100-1200 calories a day and I limit carbs to some extent- like not eating a lot of pasta, rice, potatoes, or bread, but I'm not a Nazi about it. The days I work, however, lots of times I eat less than 1000 cals, I'm too busy either working or sleeping (12 hr night shifts). I am still losing fine, minus the stalls which last 2-3 weeks. I am 5 lbs from goal.
  18. lilbearzmom

    East Texas stall

I stall like that all the time- for two to three weeks, nothing, then 5-6 lbs in a week. I think it's normal. I am 5 lbs from goal and sure as heck staying OFF the scale for awhile or I might go nuts! Great job so far!!!
  19. Given my struggles as of late, I'm putting it all in perspective. Know that you all are awesome and that you are logging a victory every day you keep up the fight!

    XXX rated super serious question!

You people are insane!!! I freaking love you. All of you. Who new it was a protein shot? But I'm still not swallowing it. Been there, done that. Just no. I prefer chicken breast, thank you very much.

    I'm not proud of this....but....

Tim Horton's Honey Cruller. It WAS my favorite donut of all time. Nowadays it keeps me tied to the toilet for hours if I eat one...sorry TMI. Haven't had one since March- only time I tried it post-op.

When is a goal too excessive?

My goal weight is actually 14 lbs higher than my "normal" BMI. Both my surgeon and PCP have agreed that this is fine. It is actually my "intial" goal- after I reach it I would like to focus on reducing body fat & increasing muscle as well as increasing calories by a little. My weight will either continue down or stabilize. After being 140 + lbs overweight, I will be perfectly happy only 14 lbs over. Also, I think it might be easier to maintain....

    peanut butter

Yikes. I think I'd rethink that particular NUT. I eat PB a few times a week. Yesterday and today I had an apple with a tablespoon of Smucker's Natural (just peanuts and a trace of salt) for a snack. I guess I am careful to measure and to buy the least processed PB, but a life with no PB ever sounds like hell.
  24. It has to have something to with nerve triggers. That's the only thing I can think of. It's all in our brain/nervous system, where everything is interconnected. My nose also drips when I get full. I end most of my meals sniffling like a crazy person.
