    Darkening Of Skin

Exactly! I have suffered from this for as long as I can remember! I've done the alcohol scrubs, betadine scrubs, to the extreme rock scrubs u know the one u use on ur feet! It is not dirt and does not go away. I have gotten it to lighten up but it comes right back. All the doctors and dermatologist I've been to all said "just lose weight and it will go away!" I didn't find out what it was until I did my own research and found Acanthosis. I can't even begin to describe the ridicule from family, "friends" making such ignorant and hurtful comments. And for someone who suffered with it too she should've known better!
  2. I'm having the sleeve done on 1/21/13. I'm self pay going to Baja, Mexico. If I were to have any complications once I'm back home in Vegas would the local hospital or my Primary treat me or would I have to travel back to Mexico?
  3. No I'm going with my mother and brother. Why so many lol? My mom for my support but then she decided to have some dental work done while we're there so my brother will escort her to there. I'm a lil confused. My pre-op paperwork said to take any weight loss shake. I'm drinking the Equate chocolate from Walmart. But this would not be the same as the Protein Shakes that have to be consumed after surgery?
  4. Wow that's great! I hope to have that type of results so quickly. Dehydration seems to be a common problem. I am searching all these blogs for all the different shakes and things that people are trying. I think I'm going to get a lil of everything just in case.
  5. Thanks. How's your progress so far?
  6. I'd like to know too. I haven't found too many on my own. Maybe just 1.
  7. Thanks guys I definitely was so wondering. I know some insurances have a waiting period for procedures done outside their coverage. I was panicking if an emergency happened what would I do? There's a chance they'll see it as secondary to surgery but they will prob fight to make it about the surgery to save money. It definitely is a gamble. I see more success stories than complications so I'm going to pray that I'll be ok.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I'm from Vegas but originally from LA. I have a goal of 160. I don't want to be super thin. I still want to have some meat just get rid of the gut. But idk what 160 looks like for me. So I may want to be smaller when I hit that. The smallest I ever remember being was 189 in high school. I thought I was a whale then lol but looking back at pics now it wasn't too bad.
  9. I have my surgery scheduled for next month and I haven't told too many people. So far I got "oh my you're going to be too much strutting you're skinny ass around the office." Implying that my head will swell as my waist shrinks. I countered with "yeah I'll be wearing a mid driff every day to show off my belly ring that will be tethered to my nose ring rain or shine" lol I guess that didn't help the perception that I'm going to be one of those vain skinny b*****s lmao!

    January 2013 Sleevers?

Hi I'm sceduled for Jan 21, 2013 in TJ with Dr. Ariel Ortiz.
  11. So I decided to switch from Plication to Sleeve. My gut is telling me that is the better choice for me. I made my initial decision based on what the coordinator told me and not on my own research. After reading so many posts over the past few weeks the information on Plications is sparse. I'm figuring that this is a fairly new procedure so I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and do the sleeve. I feel way more educated about that. My surgery date is still the same 1/21/13. Starting weight right now is 211. In about 2 weeks I'll start my pre-op diet. I'm going to do the 14 day 2 protein shake daily and diet meal for dinner. I'm hoping to get down the 10% necessary. I'm a smoker and no smoking for 2 wks plus no real food is going to very hard. I pray now for those around me and hope they survive those two wks lol.
  12. Wow well with my insomnia I'll be up tonight doing more research. I thought I was confident of what I was going to do. I know that either one is life changing but I want the one that will give me the best result with the least complications and so far it's looking like the sleeve is a better choice for me.
  13. I am seeing that most people have had or are having the sleeve done. I chose the Plication. I'm wondering if there is a reason for that???
  14. It's abt 10,000 -12,000 if I do it here. I think it's worth the savings if the end result is the same. Another 5,000 is a lot for most to come up with.
  15. I'm scheduled for 1/21 with Dr. Ortiz. I am just starting the process.
  16. Where are u having your procedure done at? I'm scheduled for 1/21 with Dr. Ortiz in Baja.
