6 months out and still feeling like crap n

    What's the 5:2 diet?
  2. It has been a long 6 months. I have had many issues that required additional surgery including having my gallbladder removed. I continue to have stomach pain and discomfort after I eat. I am battling constant dehydration due to constant diarrhea. I have been hospitalized once to get IV fluids. Now I am told that I might be creating too much bile now that my gallbladder (and it's ability to regulate it) is gone. Not sure how to correct this issue. I have also stalled for 2 months. I am looking for a dietician that specializes in bariatrics and those who have had a RNY. What I have received from my hospital team is basically copied papers. I want a real shopping list and plan for weekly meals. Very frustrated. Just want to get back to "normal" and back up on my feet again.
  3. This will be the third laparoscopic surgery. 2.5 years ago for my sleeve , 5 months for RNY and now this. I am not sure if my abdomen can handle another go around. Also, they are not 100% sure it's my gallbladder. A couple of the test (x-ray, cat scan and basic labs). However, when they did the more extensive test (more comprehensive laps and hida scan) they came back inconclusive. I was at the boarder line for several ranges that put me in the risk category. I still have immediate pain after eating, but not 100% of the time, like before. I do continue to have pain in other place in my GI tract, while I am sedated, they are going to do and EGD to look at things from the inside. Is exploratory surgery the right thing to do? Thanks, Patrick

10 weeks out & in pain when ever I eat

Well finally I have surgery scheduled for next Thursday yea! Hopefully this will resolve the problems. However I'm now having pain/burning in my lower left quadrant. This is pretty constant. In addition to the gallbladder surgery they are going to do an EGD while they have me sedated.
  5. Scan is Wed. I think there might be two issues. One gallbladder, pain in center upper right side and two, ulcer left side.
  6. So I am 10 weeks out and just after I eat I am doubled over in pain. In addition I also get pain on my right side. This is progressively gotten worse. I then developed both right side and left side flank pain which was traveling to my pelvic area. My pain got so bad I headed to the ER for some relief. My surgeon was consulted and the thought might be gallbladder related. After a cat scan with contrast, it was inconclusive. Two other thoughts were kidney stones (negative) and/or having a separate ulcer. I left about in the same was as I arrived. They put me on a Rx that may help, if I have an ulcer. Now I am going to have a "hide a scan" ???). Does anyone have / had anything similar or had that type of scan. All I really know it that it is done in nuclear medicine. I am having major regret that I had the surgery. I have more problems now then before I had surgery.
  7. Due to feeling like crap with upper belly pain after eating plus 4-5 other sign/symptoms for possible gallbladder issues, they ordered a scan. Now I have developed pain/discomfort on the upper left side. It feels like it is "hot" on the inside of my abdomen. Thoughts?

    Left Flank Pain!

17 days post op and it's in the muscle. I feel I could use the pain meds they gave me but I feel that is just masking the pain. I know they did a lot of work through that port but I feel like I have ripped out my internal stitches. Not fun.
  9. I am 17 days post op and have not be able to enjoy my new life. I have had dizziness and bed spins for 2 weeks, nausea and vomiting any time I try to eat anything other than liquid or very mashed foods. Massive headaches too. My doctors say the dizziness should go away soon since I came off htn meds however it's been two weeks. The flat spins are almost unmanageable. I am also have increased pain on my left side where they did most of the manipulation for my surgery. There were several instances in the hospital where I had extreme pain when I rolled on my left side and they think I might have pulled apart a couple of my internal sutures on my muscle. Anyone else experience anything like this? This sucks!
  10. Ok here is the deal, two years ago in October, I had the VGS with some success. My HW was 297, SW was 265. I dropped 92 pounds and was happy. However I got complacent and stop following my diet and all but eliminated my exercise plan. I started gaining wait back. 45# in one year, not good. To say my symptoms returned, is an understatement. I met with my PCP and he suggested seeing my surgeon again to try to fix the problem vs. giving me more Rx to treat my symptoms. I do have really bad reflux that I have been hospitalized for 2 times. It is getting worst. My doctor told me that statically the RNY would correct most of my issues and as a bonus, I would loose weight. Here is my problem. Did I give the VGS a fair run? Did I do all I could have done? With the RNY, what if I become complacent again. There is no "next" surgery. The RNY is the final step. I know I need this but I am freaking out and reaching for any excuse not to do this. Suggestions to relax and stay focused on my goal and get through surgery on Monday.
  11. I am trying to find some smooth, non-gritty Protein drinks. I have tried many powders and they are horrible. I used to drink Muscle Milk but it is now too sweet and thick. I have my surgery is in less than two weeks, so I need to find something quick. I just bought some Gatorade Protein Drinks but they are high in sugars. Suggestions? Thanks!

    Converting from Sleeve to Bypass?

I am also having the conversation surgery due to acid reflux (Feb 23). I have gained some weight back (30#s of the original 90# lost) and am worried about this surgery. I know it will help clear things up medically, or so they say, I am just concerned about re-routing organs. I have read my share of medical treatments/stories and successes. However I have to keep remembering how bad I feel when my stomach reacts and that this will change things for the better. Just getting a little bit of hesitation. I was originally scheduled to have the Roux 2 years ago and two weeks before my surgery, I chickened out and switched to the sleeve. I regretted it ever since. I wish you the best of luck. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can get through this and make it to surgery.

    Stomach Stretched?

I am 27 months (almost 2.5 years) post op. I am truly worried that my stomach has stretched. I can eat more than before without getting that full feeling. I have also gained about 25 pounds of the 80 I lost. Anyone else have this problem or feeling?
  14. Hello all. I am 28 months post op. At my lowest, I was down 83 pounds. Now my weight has gone back up (50#). I know I have stretched out my sleeve and have continued reflex issues. I am scheduled to have the RNY in a month to help correct my reflex. I am really worried that o will stretch out my pouch. I want to get off more meds and loose the weight again but I am just worried that I will fall into that same pattern. Thoughts
  15. Well I am 2 years 3 months since my surgery. Over the last 6 months I have slowly started to gain weight back. I am have horrible GERD issues and have not been able to get off the meds that we thought I would. Frustrating. I have talked to my surgeon and we are going to do the conversation from VGS to RNY. Has anyone else done this? Results? Thanks!
