    Anyone for October 2020?

All those drinks are too sweet for me. I’m going to have to make my own shakes. I’m 10 days out and I can’t stand the taste! I’m drinking the protein cappuccinos to replace those shakes. Been staying with my mom, so when I get home, I’ll be making my own. To my surprise, I still have energy. I’ve lost over 20lbs since surgery and I figured I’d be hallucinating by now... lol!

Sleeve to Bypass for weight loss?

I had my surgery on 10/14. Pre-op weight was 239. The pumped me full of fluids and on 10/15, I weighed 249. Went for post op and weighed in at 228. They just put me on purées. I was struggling with having BM and I was in excruciating pain. I was finally Abe to resolve issue and my recovery is so much better. I weighed in today @226. So... I’d say that I am losing thus far. I want to get back to my lowest weight of 165. I’m sure this loss will slow down soon, but I am currently pleased with the steady loss right now!
  3. I’m 8 days down as well. They’re allowing me to progress to purées! I put on 11 lbs of surgery weight and as of today lost those pounds and an additional 11 pounds. I am worried that I haven’t had a BM and apparently my doctor did a deep stitch that is causing excruciating pain. I had hoped to be a little further in my pain recovery. How are you dealing with the pain?

    Regained weight support

Truth be told.... I may have gone a different direction if my insurance hadn’t pay. Just not sure. My issue also dealt with horrible acid reflux and it affected my quality of life. I ate high fat comforting foods because it kept the reflux at bay. Has I not had this issue, I may have been more of a success story. The second time around.... I’m definitely not gonna take this for granted. I’m also going to focus on my health Holistically: mind, body and spirit. They go hand in hand.

Omg!!! I went out today and bought one from the medmart! It is a lifesaver! I was literally crying because of the pain. I’m really surprised my doctor didn’t give me one of these things. I’ve been walking around carrying my spare tire... lol!

    Regained weight support

I found that I got bored quickly. It was easy for me to make excuses as to why I didn’t go to the gym or why I chose to eat cheesecake at 10pm at night. I recognized that I was depressed. We all know what we are supposed to do and yet we choose to do the opposite? Once I recognized my depression, I made the decision to work on it. I also stepped out of what I normally did and tried something new, in terms of exercise. I scoffed at the expense of doing Pilates, but I tried it for a week. I got a pass for $20 and I vowed that if I showed up at least 3 times a week, then I would sign up! I went 5 times. It was so relaxing. It was in a small setting( COVID conscious) and I felt very accomplished after each class. It surprised me. I was getting stronger every class, my anxiety about the pandemic went away, I began drinking more water and I started making smarter choices with my eating. I noticed a difference almost immediately. That one act created a domino effect. Just say to yourself, “I’m going to walk/climb stairs for 15 minutes 3 times a week” see where that takes you. Do a sleeve reset. Do one thing for yourself and see if it’s a catalyst to getting back on track. I ended up having surgery to convert from a sleeve to bypass. I had horrible Gerd and I decided I wasn’t going to live on ppis for the rest of my life. I just had surgery last week and the struggle is real. But I look forward to getting back into the Pilates studio and I haven’t experienced GERD at all. I have faith that you can find that one thing to get you back in track! I’m rooting for you! Good luck and be well!

    Anyone for October 2020?

I am so over drinking broth. I’m going out of my mind! My left side incision is so painful.... at times I want to cry! I’m on day 5 post op gsv to Rny bypass conversion. I’ve never experienced pain like this. I was so cavalier about my recovery and I’m thankful my mother was able to help me, otherwise I don’t know what I would’ve done. Has anyone tried a post surgery girdle/band? I feel like I need one of those to help with gravity and the incision pain! I’m about to run out of pain medicine and in my life, I’ve never gone past 2 days with medicine. Please tell me it gets better?

I’ve been home 2 days and the pain was terrible. I took a shower today and the heat/steam really help loosen things up. Im starting to feel better. Now, if I can get rid of this bloated feeling!

    Horrible GERD episode last night

My doctor said I needed omneprezole for at least 6 months after surgery. You can buy otc Prilosec/omneprezole. Make sure to take 2 pills to equal 40mg. It can get pricey buying otc. See if your doctor will write a script for it. With my insurance, I paid $5 for a 3 month supply.

    Anyone for October 2020?

Well, that’s not too far away. When they scheduled me back in August for October, I thought it was an eternity away. I could’ve used a few more days... lol! Time crept up fast! Good luck!

I was given the injections and my BMI is 35. I think they give them to you as a precaution. I didn’t have drains.

    Anyone for October 2020?

Just had my surgery and last night was a rough one. The pain was terrible. Surprisingly, I had no gas pain... yet. They’re telling me that I’m doing well. I switched from a bed to a chair and it has helped. I have re-evaluated my home care and will be sleeping upright in a chair to help with mobility. Hopefully, I’ll feel more normal in a few days. Very excited about the future. I hope everyone is doing well! Btw, I had conversion surgery. Went from vsg to bypass.

    Anyone for October 2020?

Is anyone doing outpatient? I’ve read all these posts where people are staying overnight for days and I’m supposed to get up and walk out after my surgery is done! Is that weird or what? I’m less than 2 weeks away and I’m getting nervous!
