  1. Pre-Op, my psych eval had a segment focused on post-op and relationships. I forget the exact figure, but a number of relationships/marriages fall apart post-op. Mine did. I am happier now than I was before, but pre-op, this was a bit of a fear for me as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Over a year out: How much can you eat?

I'm about 2.5 years out I can't eat a full serving that includes starchy carbs in one sitting. I can pick at it throughout the day and eat it for breakfast/lunch/dinner. I've always hated sweets, so it's not a problem for me I'm still a huge lightweight when it comes to drinking, which is a good/bad thing depending on how you look at it. I can easily eat 3-7oz of Protein I can eat 2-3 slices of toast 2 slices of pizza 1 whole bagel with cream cheese 3/4 of a super burrito no rice Depending on how I'm eating, I can stretch my sleeve out to whole bagel size or shrink it down to 1.5 hard boiled eggs. It's fairly simple to do. My highest weight was 330, surgery weight 305 lowest weight 148 current weight 165. My goal weight at 5'4 was 175 so I'm feeling great about myself. I would like to lose a little more but I'm happy as is.

Adequate food intake at 2 years study

It's EXTREMELY important to take Vitamins and supplements. I was 23 when I was sleeved and I didn't take any of it seriously, vitamins wise. I have deficiencies in everything now and I bruise easily too. I still get light headed all the time, have my sluggish days, my period takes a lot out of me for 4 days, and when I catch a cold, I'm in be for at least a week. Sure, I'm still alive and energetic, my doctors say that a 20-something year old won't feel it it now but later. And it's so hard to catch back up. Wish I would have listened instead of thinking I knew it all...

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

Hey all! I wish you all the best! My highest weight was 330 and now at about a year and 4 months out, I weigh between 150-155 pounds. Don't get discouraged, anything is possible as long as you set your mind to it!

Veterans: Do you follow the rules?

I still somewhat follow the rules as well. I exercise some, I don't eat heavy carbs often, junk food is a no no, and I've always drank alcohol since 5-8 weeks out so I still drink. I'm maintaining just fine, but I would never test the waters and push the envelope with a whole milkshake and bread and burgers. I'm not that daring.

    Dating help?

Hi ladies, I was seeing a guy for about 6-8 weeks. Everything was going great, we were seeing each other multiple times a week, he told me he would be thinking of me, he would kiss and be affectionate, hold me, I could practically feel the love between us and I liked it. Then everything went cold. Now, he barely contacts me, and I feel like I initiate any communication that we have. Is this how dating works? Some guys just cut you off? He's the one that brought feelings to the table, and now I'm thinking he just was after sex. Can anyone shed some light on the matter, I'm really lost.
  8. I've been off pills since surgery. Almost a year! Chewables can be gross though
  9. I plan to get a really big tattoo on my side that goes from my ribs to my hip bone.

I'm a food rebel... you? (rant)

Depending how your relationship with food was before, I would say be careful. 3 bites now could become 1/2 a slice of cake in a month or 2. It's a domino effect. I'm not coming down on you or judging you, I'm just giving you a heads up: don't wait until you actually see something happen to do something. Prevention is key! Plus, on a nutritional level, sweet and fatty foods aren't good for you. They taste good but have no nutritional value.

The sleeve is only a tool. You can eat and do whatever you want. A lot of people develop better eating habits post op because it is easier. The sleeve also isn't a magic bullet for weight loss. Calories in still equal weight gain. So what works for you now, may not always. I nibble at "forbidden foods" every once in a while, but I don't eat them on a daily basis. Too much is at risk: I love how I feel now and would cry if I gained. I'm 11 months and 162 lbs down.

    5 Confessions (Join In)

    1. I confess that I am afraid of losing too much weight. I feel so protected by my fat, finally being able to see my collar bones reminds me that the weight is coming off. Plus, my dad points it out. A lot. SMH, I can't win, I'm first too fat, now to thin, what next? My heads too big? 2. I confess that I enjoy the attention from men that I get now a little too much. I would flirt with a pole if it had a penis. 3. I confess that I am afraid of finally being visible. When I was 300+ pounds, I could walk into a room and everyone would ignore me. I now walk into a room and I am greeted and pulled into conversations. 4. I confess that I often get depressed over the fact that the same people I knew preop treat me a lot better now. It really hurts to have the harsh reality of people treat you better based on the way you look thrown in my face. 5. I confess that I drink a lot. I am afraid of crossing my food addiction to alcohol addiction. When I go out, i tend to have the "go hard or go home" mentality and keep up with my peers as far as drinks go. However, I am drunk with 2 drinks. My peers- 5-7 drinks. A lot of times I get blacked out drunk and it's starting to freak me out as I've made some stupid decisions while drunk. 6. I confess that I monitor what I eat really closely and I have a fear of developing an eating disorder. The signs are all there.
