    Aloha,
Just checking in. I was sleeved January 30, 2013. I started at 311 pounds and currently weigh 171 pounds. I have not reached goal yet. I am still happy with my progress, but I definitely took some detours along the way. Hang in there everyone. I know sometimes when the scale stays the same for more than a week it is frustrating, but eventually it does come off. Stay strong, count calories (or whatever works for you), keep active, and look ahead.

December 10 was my 1 year anniversary and I am down a total of 102lbs!
    I started this journey at 332lbs and today am 230lbs (5'8"). I was in 26/28, I assume 3XL tops.
Today I am in size 16 jeans and large or xl tops depending on where I go.
This has not been an easy journey and I have fought for every pound. I was pregnant in july and we lost it in september and I have not lost a pound since! I am working so hard to get it going again but it just hasnt happened yet. I know I am not done losing yet! Hoping to get to my goal by May of 165! If i could just get below 230 I think I could do it!
Hope everyone has a great christmas!

in my opinion, hard asses are strong, leaders, motivators and most importantly the ones who succeed! I do not coddle or enable. We all will eat something "naughty" at some point in time and some of us may fall off the wagon, but you will never see me posting on a forum of all the crap I ate...looking for someone to support me in going back to my bad habits. If I can change myself and get myself back on the wagon and in the right direction, then there is no one else on this planet that could do it for me.
I prefer to have friends who are supportive, but who will kick me when I need it. If I let my fire go down, then I need someone to throw some burn on there for me...not to smother me...I want my fire to burn bright and long!

LifetimeLoser reacted to Suzannesh in 5 years after having Weight Loss Surgery
    Hi Everyone,
I am celebrating year 5 of having a very successful weight loss surgery! I was 63 when I had sleeve surgery done, so it is never too late to have weight loss surgery!!!!
This was very best choice I have ever made in my life. I had my Weight Loss Surgery in Oct 2008. After a lot of investigating and considering all the doctors and places I could have my surgery. I made the choice to have Dr. Aceves in Mexicalli Mexico do my surgery. I was a self-pay, and believe me I really checked out every option there was. I was an older person and I really took my time to figure out what was best for me. I talked to a lot of different people who had already had weight loss surgery about who their doctors were.
It wasn’t something I rushed into. It took me about 6 months before I knew for sure that I was going to the right place for me. I also made the choice to have VGS aka the sleeve. I lost of total of 105 pounds and it took me 14 months to do this. Was it easy, yes and no? The 1st month was the hardest month I had to do. After that it just kept getting better and easier each month. It is NOT a magical cure. It is my tool to allow me to use to reach my goal. The big question you are thinking is have I maintained my weight loss goal? The answer is YES, I fluctuate between 5 to 7 pounds sometimes. I still eat healthy, make sure I get enough Protein and stay away from too many carbs. It accurately is a lifestyle change NOT a diet. It is easy for me to live like this and eat like this for the rest of my life. I have some really delicious meals and I never feel deprived at all. Do I eat deserts, yes and it is made healthy and is extremely good. Do I eat deserts every day; the answer is no. I love all the lifestyle changes I have made in my life and it will always work for me.
I was the person who hated to exercise. Now I do something every day. Last Sept, I thought I would just see if I could walk 7 days a week for a month and I did just that. Well that became a good habit and I walked EVERY DAY for one YEAR without missing a day. Yes, I walked outside when it was raining or not nice weather—I am always coming back home, so I will get dry if I get wet while walking. I walked between 3 ½ miles to 4 miles a day. Five years ago, I could have never walked that much. Find some type of exercise that you like and it will be easier to do. Start out slow and then add to it. You don’t have to do it 7 days a week, but do something at least 3 or 5 times a week.
I want you to know that you too can become successful at weight loss. I am 68 now and life is so different for me. If you are thinking about having weight loss surgery, I am living proof that it does work and you can do it too.

    Hey everyone!
I had my surgery August 22nd, 2012 so I'm about 15 months post op. I've lost a total of 101 pounds and I feel great I started at 231 lbs. and now weigh 130 lbs.
At 23 years old, I feel like life can't get any better I've been maintaining for about 7-8 months. I feel so much healthier and more confident. I continue to exercise and make healthy choices to motivate myself to be the healthiest me that I can be. This journey has been one of the most humbling and challenging experiences of my life. I've surrounded myself with positive people who have supported me throughout this whole process.
I'm now participating in the "Bari-Buddy" system at the hospital I had my surgery at - getting paired with people who just had the surgery to be a support to them. It's been a great experience - both rewarding and inspiring to help support other people who are in the same position I was in 15 months ago.
Since the summer, I've graduated college and started a new job. I'm now an occupational therapist working in a pediatric setting. This is something I always wanted to do but I was always too intimidated to work with kids - because let's be honest...kids are a little too honest!! I am so grateful that I now have the confidence (and the energy!!) to help these kids achieve all of their goals.
I hope everyone is having lots of success and happiness Here are some before and after pictures!

I had my surgery on 8/1/12 and have since lost a total of 143 pounds. Feel free to ask me anything... I was so happy I found this site when I considered having my surgery and pictures were a main factor in my decision as words can only mean so much but a picture can show a lot more.

For every 8oz of liquid (milk, water) add 2 tablespoons of PB2. 2 tablespoons is one serving of PB2. I add it to my chocolate Protein drinks every morning.
I think the best part of the PB2 in shakes is the lumps of PB2 you get. But if you don't like the lumps you can get a shaker bottle with the little wire ball. That seems to help break down the lumps.
Also I use it to make icing for my Protein cupcakes I make. If you want to check the recipe at here is the link: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/95285-protein-cupcakes-with-pb2-icing/page__hl__%2Bprotein+%2Bcupcakes

I am also a fan of Quest bars. In the beginning, I just got the standard ones from costco. Over time, I didn't care for the coatings on all of them. Most Protein bars have that chocolate coating that just got too sweet for me. I found quest bars and they are wonderful. I can keep them in my car in the hot sun and not worry about them being a mess when I want to eat one. Cookie dough is my fav!!!
