indian reacted to Alex Brecher in What do you order at restaurants after weight loss surgery?
Restaurants often serve high-calorie, high-carb, high-fat foods that fit into your weight loss surgery diet very well.
What do you do when you are figuring out what to order at a restaurant?

indian reacted to Arts137 in I can eat lot of popcorn! Why?
"Slider Food" is food that is easy to get in, compresses in the stomach, slides through fast to the small intestine and has no/little nutritional value. Take the bag of popcorn, grind it well in a food preocessor, add 1 TBS of Water and mix. That's really what you ate.
Now here's the question. WHY eat popcorn? If this is just an every once in a while treat, maybe rarely 1/2 cup. Don't push this. Folks who eat slider foods tend to be the folks that regain weight, IMHO.

Interesting suggestion. I heard about this in 7th grade and tried it one afternoon. I lasted about an hour and then caved. It is funny I remember those things.

Browse through your preop photos. That would totally inspire me to avoid food.
I'm mostly tempted to graze at work. Cannot escape work at will so I'm stuck thinking of food.< /p>

indian reacted to Supersweetums in Boredom and old eating habits
I am terrible for boredom eating. I do things like Lynda, especially playing on the computer. Sometimes just chewing a piece of gum helps satisfy that need to chew something. If I do end up eating something, I try to keep it "healthy" junk....cause really, most of us don't want a celery stick! So I will have greek yogurt sweetened with vanilla stevia and a tbsp of chocolate chips, or stove-popped popcorn with just a TBSP of oil and salt.
The biggest challenge with the sleeve is our brains. They can't take it out, so we just have to deal with it!

Sometimes people eat when they are bored. I was one of those people. After being "on plan" for a year almost, boredom is about the one circumstance that pulls me back into bad habits. I have not slipped yet, but my mind is going there. It doesn't help that is is cloudy outside (lack of sun makes my mood lower for some reason). If you are not eating when bored, then what are you doing instead? Sometimes it is not as easy as just reading a book, watching TV or exercising. Sometimes it is boredom while working and you still have to work, yet you have these feelings of satisfying boredom with food. Even if you could do one of these activities, sometimes you just don't want to drag your lazy butt out of your chair yet eating is not the direction that would be beneficial. What are your thoughts?

Doing pretty well. A lil sore and fighting to get fluids in but I ok. Exited to go home today if I can keep my shakes down. Had a lil bit of Jello yesterday. Some problems with tummy gas but it is passing slowly. Hoping all my other May 16th sleevers are doing well!!

indian reacted to reddv in Sleevers over 300lbs?
I was 404 and had surgery on January 25th. Now I'm down 75 pounds. Yeah!!!
At the beginning of my journey, I wondered if others were as heavy as me. I really needed to be inspired by other people like me and wondered how long it would be before I'd lose a big chunk of weight. These days, I am losing about 2 pounds a week and a little disappointed its not more.
It took me five years to make up my mind to actually take the steps toward a healthier life. I'm thankful to be losing and happy, I went ahead and had the surgery.
Just take one day at a time and you will be fine. I wish you much success.
Val

I didn't even think twice about anything that involved malabsorption...not for a few extra pounds lost. I am thrilled with my sleeve results. I am healthy again...that was my goal!

indian reacted to SexyBack517 in Vegetarian diet - is this impossible post-OP
Exactly! I've been vegetarian for 17 years & eat sugar, carby pastas, fat, & other things that have made me gain tons of weight! I got sleeved 2/6 & don't regret it. That was a silly comment. Thanks FallenAngel for addressing it! :-)

Our starting numbers are very similar. It's hard to say why people with such similar numbers have different results. I focus primarily on getting in high Protein and low carbs. I go for 900 calories a day, at least 80 grams protein, and pretty much as few net carbs as possible(also try to get a minimum of 15 Fiber a day which can be challenging while keeping carbs down). I am a paramedic by profession so I keep fairly active, and I try to get to the gym at least 5 times a week(doing 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes strength when I am there). This is the best description of what I have found works for me, hopefully listing it can help others to get similar results.
