I thought it was such a myth, but it seemed to hold true to me. I have really enjoyed Water with lime lately- AND I'm saying this as someone who was NOT a big drinker at all pre-surgery!

I had the same problem. I gained 5 lbs. in 5 days. Then the scale didn't move for a week. It just started to go back down again yesterday. So, it's not completely unheard of. Good Luck!

Okay folks, first off, I am moving this topic to "Rants and Raves". Recently, we have been deleting posts such as this, that are created for the sole purpose of bashing others. However, I feel many of you have some valid points. Thus, I will allow it to remain open for now. However, I am going to STRONGLY REMIND all of you, to remember our rules as posted here:
    http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules
I have had to post several warnings such as this in other threads tonight and the past couple of days, and I keep seeing the same names over and over again. Therefore, if this thread gets out of control, I will not hesitate to close and delete it. If you are not able to be polite, respect one another, refrain from name calling, etc., and can't remember to attack the idea and not the person, then I will also not hesitate to issue warnings and bans.

And that's what the people who feel the need to bash others are. We all had this surgery because we were addicted to food and let it get out of control, completely degrading someone and making them feel an inch tall because they made a mistake or slipped up is utterly pathetic. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is supposed to be a SUPPORT forum not a b***h at people who screw up forum. The people who slipped up and confessed OBVIOUSLY know they made a mistake, and they're adult enough to admit it on here so why get on their case? You don't have to say "aw no big deal" or sugar coat, but you also don't have to be rude and snobby like you've never ever made a mistake in life. Grow up, as for me I'll find a website or forum that is all about support and not a bunch of assholes degrading people who need help the most.

I am totally tired of the pre-op diet but I just keep reminding myself each moment of why i am doing this. I also had a great conversation this evening with a colleague who is a gastroenterologist surgeon. I very much trust his opinion and thoughts as a friend and colleague. I wondered if this pre-op diet truly made a difference and he said that is definitely does and to stick with it no matter what. He reminded me that it will be over soon. Eating has become a routine thing for me now..same thing each day. I ignore others who eat, change the TV channel is I see food and do my best to find other stuff to do. I have completed my 5th day today - down 6 pounds as of this morning.

I, too have wondered about the similarities to anorexia. Having been anorexic/bulimic in the past, the biggest difference is the mental attitude. I am not scared to eat, I feel no need to vomit, and I have no guilt because I LISTEN to my body and the signs taht I am full. I just feel like I have a better relationship with food, without the stressfulness of anorexia. Eat to live, not live to eat.

Actually, one of the listed POSSIBLE side effects that I had to sign off on pre surgery was risk for anorexia. I don't see the goal of this surgery as to starve myself, but to only give the body what it needs to be healthy. We SHOULD be able to get in proper nutrition, but not overeat.

So glad your surgery went great. I also felt very well taken cared off. Dr Olivares, Dr Joya's partner or surgeon assistant did part of the following up, and he was amazing. I will miss him. He made me laugh a few times and thought my stitches were going to open. Also Dr Espinoza is extremely professional. I wish i could had brought them with me back lol because in case of emergency i know i will never be in such good hands here as i was there.

I was sleeved Dec 6. I was fortunate to not have the gas pains, but once my intestines woke up they've been having a little party! I am having a hard time getting my Isopure down, but I'm going to try Proteins that can be warm. My sleeve seems to like them better.

Step away from the scale! It is not our daily friend. My scale says I am in a stall, but my clothes feel looser every day, so I know something is going right. Like PP said, measure yourself and look for the non-scale changes.
As for the big losses, I find that the really big losses were either people with lots to lose or guys. People with less to lose will lose it slower and guys lose weight faster anyway. Well, that's what I choose to think anyway.

Just think of all the money you will save in food over a year! I know I probably spend as much as what the surgery is going to cost eating out at restaurants and stuff associated with food.

Biellita165 reacted to tallysfunny in After Surgery What Can I Take For Energy?
This is how I survived thus far...6 days post op. just keep and open mind to what I say.
I can have broth, Water and Protein shakes. I cannot stomach more than 4 ounces of anything in a 30-60 min timeframe. And those dang Protein Shakes are so hard to get in...they make my belly gurgle something fierce. So since mixing one serving of Protein Powder in half the Fluid volume is just too much...I use only half a serving in 4 ounces of egg whites. It gets me 27 g of Protein this way. That's Breakfast. Then twice throughout the day I will have 1/2 cup of broth that I made. I heat it up and add unflavored Protein Powder to it. Then drink it like my Protein Shakes. It's about 14 g of protein. Then I end my night with another shake made the same way as Breakfast. So I get in a ton of protein each day and I manage 80oz of Fluid a day. It works for me.
I also take a multi-vit twice per day, 1 chewable Iron, sublingual B12, and 4 Calcium chews per day. It helps with the energy.

I'm 20 days out and have better and more consistant energey now than I have a years. I suspect I was carb loading before, so having ups and downs all day. Now my energy is constant all day and at night I'm tired and ready for bed, instead of buzzing from the night time carbs. I love it.
Maybe find a chewable multi with a dose of B Vitamins, but I'm sure you'll be fine.
    Good luck!
