ivonneh got a reaction from MrsLucas in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
I had never thought about it this way but last year I turned 30 and I started to feel that I was not as energetic es before, my feet hurt. I have never been skinny so I guess I learned, over the years, to accept myself as I was. Thank God I have never stopped or avoided trying the things I enjoy and so far I have been a very healthy person. But both of my parents are diabetic and I know that just by that I am prone to become diabetic if I don't take care of myself so I realized that I needed to lose weight to avoid that happening. Still the most important thing that I feel was my biggest encouragement is that I want to have kids someday and I want to be a healthy mom and I want to have the strength and energy to enjoy being with my future kids.

    Congratulations!! you are doing awesome.
I was sleeved in December 2012 as well but I have lost about 70lbs only and sometimes I wonder if I am losing too slow. I stall a lot too and sometimes that scares me a little because I kind of feel discouraged at times.

Dec 17 surgery here, I am down 65 lbs since surgery. Add in my pre-op loss, and it's a total of 95. I am really enjoying no longer being the biggest girl in the room. I'm blending in more and more with the "normal size" folks. I have had my share of stalls, but I only allow a pity party for a few minutes and then I am back at it. I also make sure I shake things up a bit when I stall- so far they have only lasted 1-2 weeks, and I often post a significant loss when they do break. I am looking forward to seeing how everyone else is doing!
I am 47 lbs from goal.

Not losing weight in 4 days is not a stall. My doc says that a platoe is when you are not losing in months. I know it's hard but sometimes is better not to get on the scale every day. Consider that you are intaking lots of fluids and since your food intake is not much your body stores fluids and calories to survive. Your body is learning to adjust to a different life style. Also if you are not intaking enough fluids that can affect your progress. So do not stress over 4 days that you have not lost. Eventually weight loss will become slower but keep in mind that is not about how many pounds you lose but about the % of overweight that you have to lose. The more you lose, the smaller that percetange of exess weight you have to lose becomes.
In my case I sometimes don't see any changes on the scale for days or even weeks but I can feel that my clothes fit better so I realize I am still losing inches.
Don't feel discuraged or anxious, it is happening! just keep up the good work!!!!

My leak symptoms weren't typical. I had a low and dull back ache. I had one night of chattering jaw and shaking muscles in my back- I was super cold. My body would sweat, like enough sweat that my bedding was wet.
I looked so good when the surgeon saw me, she was convinced I didn't have a leak. She seemed to be in shock I had a leak with how well I looked.
The most important thing to take from this always listen to your body. You know it best and seek help accordingly. It's always better safe than sorry especially with these types of complications. Make sure you advocate for your self. Your gut is a strong indication of what you need to do.
I wish you the best and hope that you never walk down the same road as I.

that happens to me. I guess it's because we see ourselves every day lol. But people around noticed more. I still see myself big too but my clothes now fit better and some are even starting to fit loose plus I am now wearing clothes that didn't fit before. I guess that's when I realize I am actually loosing weight

So I just came back from my first pre op visit with my surgeon and Nut and I asked them about regular coffee they said its fine we even joked that drinking decaf coffee is an insult to coffee... I just had a tall Starbucks Skinny Latte today I assure you it's perfectly safe.

I am 13 weeks out a down 102lbs (50 pre-op). I am so happy with my sleeve, I have gone back to school at night, something I always wanted to do but my weight was holding me back (besides I would never have fit in the seat). I have 77lbs to go!

ivonneh reacted to Teddy bear in Has anyone experienced changes in their period post op?
Yes, before surgery I've been complaining about it being late all the time.. sometime it's up to 10 days late which freaks me out cause I'm on the copper IUD.. and when it arrives I usually experience heavy cramps and bleeding like a tap being turned on... Met with my obgyn, and of course the problem was with my weight... he said the fat cells surrounding the IUD is causing all that.... so 7 months post op. I've been noticing that it's usually on time., but what's really weird is that my cycle is shorter... It used to be 28 days, but now it's like 24!!! But mild cramps & bleeding now..

Fat holds all the hormones we produce so as that begins to dissolve you end up with hormonal changes that you would normally experience around your period Or it could be a fluctuation of your period I'm going on the pill in feb because I don't want to experience what I have in the past with weight loss I had a 4 month period ended up on birth control to get my body regulated. so I understand your concern and frustration. Maybe try a different form of birth control. good luck!

We all hit stalls. It doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. Sometimes, your body just has to catch up with what you're doing. Take a deep breath, relax, and stick to the program.

Definitely a coffee lover here. And a latee, Cappuccino lover. That being said, you should follow your doctor's orders with regards to coffee and the healing process. It takes about 6 weeks for the stomach to get through initial healing and caffeine during that time can cause ulcers or perhaps something worse. Do not take this as medical fact, just experience from going through the sleeve and reading posts here my doctor did not limit any coffee except we were not allowed to drink it the day before surgery and we should keep it to 1-2 cups. I stopped drinking coffee about a month before surgery and then started slow about 6 weeks post op. if you are not able to have coffee, there are other options. nectar has a good cappuccino Protein Shake. There are a lot of coffee flavored drinks and shakes out there. You might try one or two and see what you think. Good luck!
