Hi everyone. Im from Chicago in Albany Park on the North Side. Im haveing my surgery done at UIC. Would love to meet anyone nearby or who is haveing it at UIC. Ive just started my journey. Had my first appt a couple of weeks ago. Im haveing trouble looking for a support group. I need a buddy to help me get thru this.

I second the Kane center and also Dr rantis. Was sleeved 12/10/12 with him. He was amazing preop and also postop. I see him tomorrow for my 6 month checkup.

When did you have surgery or was it your son? Someone in one of my preop nutrition class was there with his mom and also the day I had surgery i saw the same mom and son. I never introduced myself but was wondering if that was you .

I love the Kane Center! I had gone through UIC first and went thru hell! DR. Rantis is an awesome surgeon!

After surgery I had alot of nausea & gas! It was horrible, as they wheeled me to the upper GI test I was throwing up all the way! Once they gave me that nasty contrast to drink I dont even know how I was able to keep it down during the test!

Hi Lorraine! My best advise is to keep your self busy & not over think things. I was sleeved 10/5/12 ... although i did educate myself on the surgery & what I had coming, I didnt allow my self to over do it. Why? because I know myself & I tend to over react and get very paranoid. You have to have alot of mental control & always keep in mind why you have chose to do the surgery. I wish you the best of luck & try to keep your mind busy on other things!

No that is the normal surgery time. I was sleeved 10/5/12 ... I was out in 3hrs, & was allowed liquids the following morning after the upper GI test. Like Coco said things will only get better. In one month I have lost 65 lbs & I am also off of insulin & my diabetes meds were also lowered! Hang in there & good luck!
