TwinsMama got a reaction from eso in Taco Bell Torture
    You're not being too dramatic...
Last night I had Taco Bell. I ate the toppings off the nachos grande. It was my first fast food (I didn't do fast food except the Bell pre-op). Eating just the toppings (Beans, meat, and a taste of cheese) was good satisfying and didn't hurt my calories/carbs.
Hang in there and don't swear off fast foods forever. There are lots of Vets who mention the Bell is one of the better fast food places to go post-op.

I wear squeem (waist chincher). I have Spanx but they never seem to stay in place like squeem. Also the leg ones roll up and that's just not cute.
I was able to comfortably wear my Spanx tank at 6 weeks out with no problems. Now it is by far one of the least constricting of the Spanx line, so understand it does not bind really well, just kind of "looks" smoother.
I was back to my favorite Squeem by the end of week 7. I like that more because it makes my back feel great (I have a large chest).

2 years ago, I was at work and got the call that my M-I-L dropped dead. This was a healthy woman who just dropped dead. When my husband's family asked why, the Dr literally dismissed them and said well she was overweight (50 lbs), that's what we're writing down, but if you really want to know, you can pay for an autopsy.
I looked at her husband of 44 years and her grown sons and thought...there is no way I will do this to my kids. If I drop dead, they won't be able to cop to weight...they'll HAVE to figure out why I died.

TwinsMama got a reaction from NiecyBelle12 in 4 Wks Post Op Miserable
Guys I'm fairly new to the board but let's agree to disagree. I think the question was actually not to far out of left field. It did seem a bit troubling that OP was asking Sleeve Vets about something so serious. But then when OP explained that the purpose wasn't a cry for help but more of an inquiry that made sense. And could have been the end of it.
Now, I have to say, I read a couple of WLS sites and some posts do appear questionable. Not to say this one was but I have seen some. Iggy I have been following your posts and have learned TONS about what could go wrong. Thanks for documenting everything for us newbies.
But, I also don't think someone who doesn't stalk the boards like me would know there could be such serious complications. I say all that to say, I think sometimes when something is so dear to our own hearts it immediately causes us to assume things are one way without considering the other side.
I felt the need to post this because I usually find value in your posts but the gab at the baby was a bit much. BTW, my intention is not to single you out but your the Vet so (based on your previous posts) you seem like a lovely person.
Lets all move on from this post unless we are back to helping the OP.

TwinsMama got a reaction from scrapbasket in Already receiving heat from the hubby
I started not to post on this because only you know how your marriage is and many people I think give up too soon on their marriages. That said...you have to think of your physical and mental health (and that of your kids if you have any). This surgery will give you much of your life back, but it will also make you much more prone to depression and other problems if you already haven't done the "head work".
You will need to decide if your husband is helping or hindering your development. If he is hindering your development, you will need to go to counseling (alone if he won't go) and keep on going until you feel ready to make a decision and stick with it, either way. I believe part of his issue is fear. Our fears (at least as healthy adults) are never really about someone else, they are ours to own and acknowledge.
If he is so scared of losing you that he resorts to hurting you (even mentally) you have to decide if you are willing to put yourself at risk for mental abuse because of his issues. I'm all for realizing that people hurt because they are hurt, but you cannot fix his past any more than he can fix yours. He has to want to do better to do better.
Please consider the message his behavior sends to you (and your kids if you have any). Do you really want to risk your safety and sanity because he is not willing to take action and fix his issues? If you have kids, do you really want them to treat others/ or be treated the way he treats you?
That's really what you need to decide.

I'm a giver in bed. I do all kinds of fun things and I've always been very flexible. However...now since losing tons of inches and weight, I have even more energy and am even more flexible.
No complaints of course from the hubby. Plus, now that my stamina has increased, we can go more rounds than before. That poor man is literally sleepy all day now since I won't let him get any sleep!

Also, be careful about stocking up too much on 1 brand of Protein. For many of us our tastes change and I stocked up (despite what I read here) and wasted money. I could not do any of them post-op.

TwinsMama got a reaction from IdahoGirl32 in Non believers
Butter, I appreciate your post. I am almost as liberal as they come but also a believer though in no way shape or form fundamentalist. I think religion is one of those things that people on both sides (believers and non) get very wrong at times. Both sides in many instances feel the other is trying to convert/convince them one way or another. Let's all agree to stop that!
My goal is to NOT walk around trying to convert people. Faith is a (in my view) very serious matter and I don't believe God wants me to try and "bring everyone to the light". In fact, through reading the Bible I think most people who take this approach are not only WRONG but doing the exact opposite of what God would want.
Not every person that is a believer is going to beat you over the head, try to convert you, or believes that acceptance of science means your going to hell. I'm one of those that absolutely has read the Bible cover to cover and I read it because of my doubts - so very skeptical. By reading it, it brought me to what I feel is a closer relationship with God. That is, my OWN personal relationship with God.
No one walking this earth can save another, so again...let's try and stop that! Just as no nonbeliever can convince someone not willing to stop believing. It's just not going to happen.
It is a very sad state of affairs when people of all faiths (or no faith) cannot sign onto a support forum and just Celebrate with one another. I've been really saddened by the tone lately in some of the forums and also the intolerance on both sides.
Sure, I attribute much of my success and overall peace to God, but again, that's about me and has nothing to do with anyone else. And BTW, I've also read the Torrah and Koran. I'm an avid studier of world cultures, religion, etc. I've met some great friends of all walks of life this way and wouldn't trade those friendships for the world. We respect and value each other and that's what counts.

My first 6-7 weeks my urine smelled horrible. I also smelled different down there...not bad...just different. My hubby noticed the urine smell (no privacy in my home) but never the other smell.
I never got dehydrated so I know that wasn't my issue. I assumed it was the meds and being in ketosis. By my 8th week that smell was gone and my urine was back to normal.

Over time they will, but right now is the hard part. Remember nothing worth having comes too easy. Keep going forward and don't look back.

TwinsMama got a reaction from LindaS in Too Small :(
I was told that most people retain their same overall body shape. So if you are curvy then most likely you will still be a bit curvy. So for example if you're a pear, you'll be a pear but a much smaller one.
I would not worry about losing your shape. During the weight loss phase sure your body may lose and you may look out of proportion for a bit but as you near goal, you'll find that overall you look similiar.
I've always had a smaller waist than breast and hips. As I'm losing inches I've found that my chest is going down at a much faster rate than my hips so I look more pear shaped. However this week my waist went down some so I'm back to more of a figure 8.
Just go with your body's cues and you'll be fine.

This is why I had to leave my last gym. I was there to actually you know, work out. All the "social hour" types would talk so loud during the classes you couldn't hear the instructor. It drove me crazy.
Then, they would all stay for hours...not working out...SITTING on the equipment talking and sipping Water. I mean really?!?!
Oh the looks they'd give when you asked them to move; and they'd stand there watching you until you were done so they could sit back down. I still remember thinking, why hang out at the gym??? Oh and BTW, it was an all women's gym and these were the married ladies, so who the HECK were they trying to impress dressing alike and wearing full makeup?!?

This is pretty much how I feel. In fact I told people and tell them openly.
However when I'm asked a question I think is personal...I usually just look at them, give them this face , and stare. That usually gets people to backpeddle and stammer some type of apology/explanation. They then change the subject.
Sometimes silence is the best way to go with ignorance.

Then this AM, I literally could not wear pants I could on Friday. They were too big. So yes, I'm finally seeing it in the mirror.
